  1. You have some evidence of his tagging, respect. Genuinely couldn’t recall him in that role in the last 5 years, maybe because it was for only 3 of the last 120-odd games.
  2. Tell me two games since 2018 he played the majority of the match in a tagging role?
  3. I wonder which club has benefited most from free agency. That is, how many draft picks (or equivalent points) have they saved by recruiting players they didn’t need to trade for? Richmond with Lynch must be up there and Sydney with Buddy
  4. Feel like he had one season (‘18 from memory) where he was deployed as a tagger. That was 5 years ago.
  5. We kicked 16.28 in the last two games of the year. I love Choc, don’t get me wrong, but the hype around his ‘magical cure’ for poor-kicking is ridiculous.
  6. Completely off-piste if true. Why would we go for another young key tall who won’t be a huge amount of help to us for the next 2 years?
  7. I am going to the game on Saturday and taking a sign which reads “I’m Just Here To Boo Bruz”. If you don’t hear from me again, it’s genuinely been nice knowing all (most) of you.
  8. Surely Melbourne will have legally-reliable clarity on this before he is traded. It would be an absolute mess if this gets poked at post trade.
  9. Times have changed, the world is a much more inclusive place today and I’m confident they would set fire to ANYBODY - not just dwarves - if that happened today.
  10. Don’t the AFL have to tick off on all trades? Surely the AFL would look at this as a manipulation of the rules and reject it?
  11. Tough sell to a promising young guy in a back up role - come and be in another back up role, except with this one the main guy is zero chance of getting dropped for form and probably has a few years left in him.
  12. The myth of Mad Monday at the top level far exceeds the reality of it. Serious’/unsavoury Mad Monday incidents in the last 10 years at AFL level are rare. Mad Monday/Sloppy Sunday/Tanked Tuesday/Wiped Out Wednesday at local level is often a different story though (Glen Hawks a case in point).
  13. can’t we just coach our way out of this problem? Play with the play book before you play with the personnel they’re not elite disposers of the ball, but they’re not awful and they have been instructed to kick it quickly to a contest.
  14. I saw a tall bloke at the shops earlier - don’t know if he’s any good but I’ll ask him if he can kick straight
  15. he has accepted less than his going rate for years at G, as a sign of loyalty and to keep the team together for success. Just can’t see why that would change for 1 year to make $300k more (which gets whacked down to $150k after tax) - he’ll get looked after in business and life immensely down that way in retirement if he stays a 1-club person
  16. Part trade rumour/ part trade anxiety: I worry about Petty’s name coming up during the period. Some murmurings of Adel throwing his name in the mix for McAdam trade (which we all scoffed at) but if you think about it, as a rare, flexible tall who is on the up, I’m pretty sure his market value would be much much higher than his current pay packet… Also you’d expect our plan is to groom him a forward to suit our needs… who’s to say that doesn’t suit him?
  17. The other unusual aspects to consider are; - this isn’t like the risk of Jackson or Kossie getting homesick - there is the lure of being the first marquee player (and very well paid) for the long-awaited new side in their home state - the unknown of compensation for losing the player, but I think general consensus is we would get somewhere between ‘nothing’ and ‘not enough’ (most likely less than we’d be compensated if trading a player back to Perth). If the argument is ‘we need to build for the long term’ then the above two considerations mean it is a hard NO for me. If the argument is ‘our window is open’ and ‘we need to recruit for the now’ then surely we use pick 5 to trade in a more established player that offers better immediate value (over the next 4 years).
  18. Best case scenario is he is a gun (which you would hope for at that pick) but if he is a gun he becomes Tassie’s #1 priority and we get 4 seasons out of a kid… isn’t the goal generally 10yr+ players from a top end draft pick? What am I missing here? edit: wouldn’t a better chance of 10 years out of somewhere perhaps not quite as talented being a better outcome for the club?
  19. Neale polling out of his backside. Got 3 votes in a 20 touch (0 goal, 6 clearance, 70 DT points) game against GWS
  20. Surely not. His life is pretty well set up on a farm near Geelong and the cats would consider themselves as ‘in the window’ as we are. He’s not leaving for money or success for 1 yr
