  1. Instead of trading for Harley Reid, is there a chance of prying Oscar Allen out of there? Offer two first rounders for him maybe other later picks involved. if there is a chance to nab someone like that who may not be enjoying his footy atm, he would it our forward line perfectly!

Can only give him a rest if Brown comes in, Smith isn't up to the standard unfortunately. he isn't a forward threat, he is fine for a role but he isn't a marking or goal-kicking threat at AFL Level. Brown had a very good VFL game on the weekend, he can be to far away, and maybe we play Schacke and BBB if we are giving JVR a rest.
  3. yup, needs help in the forward line though

Limited impact isn't correct. there is a lot of contests that he is out of position and makes sure he brings it to ground. Agree he will need a rest at some stage as he is only 19, but he needs help up fwd. he is a 19yo playing on the best defenders in the league, this week he comes up against Sam Taylor, the best full back in the league. He needs a big Key fwd like Ben Brown to take those guys.
  5. lets not forget Max had 15 disposals, 4 tackles and 23 HO, whilst he wasn't taking marks he still had an OK game. not exactly the best weather for a 200+cm player. Were not banged up at all, we are in a good spot i believe. BBB i think they are managing and he will soon return to the side. JVR is 19, might need a break leading into finals but he will benefit from playing next to BBB. Lets just hope we don't have to many games in the wet!! we just cannot play in very slippery conditions.
  6. Yup its unfortunate, just give him another week

IN: Brown, Bowie Out: Smith, Spargo, - JJ to Sub Its time to give JVR some support down fwd and brown had a very good hame in the VFL with 2 goals 18 disposals and 9 marks, think this will also free up our resting ruck. Too many small forwards, Spargo is the unlucky one, but if any of the others drop off much more then he comes straight in! Bowie back in and Brayshaw into the midfield rotation, he plays his best footy in the middle and we have the smaller backs. He can still play a defensive mid role but it looks like we have been trying to play to many in the one position. GWS are no pushovers and our small fwds will need to be on the ball, they have the best full back in the league and some good play makers of the half back line. A very solid midfield, but where we can get on top if their forward line, which is pretty average besides Toby Greene.
  8. Stewart had a day out, not sure if Smith had the role. But if he didn't why not, should have been next to him all game
  9. How many intercept marks did geel take tonight in the wet? Bit hard for Smalls to be effective in that display
  10. The Chest mark
  11. Yeh was a bad game for him, but grundy looked pretty good. In the wet weather surely you plonk gawn 10m out from goal and get the Smalls around him. Leave Grundy in the ruck
  12. Id say the gawn dropped mark was more so
  13. That was pathetic, still tried to handball in the wet. Again we cannot play wet weather footy. Smith had a couple of good weeks but that's his time done. Petracca was well held and hid impact forward of the ball was stopped. Geel played the conditions way better
  14. How big was the smile on your face @binman when you got to say "i told you so" Great win, GREAT win. should have been bigger. not a lot of passengers which was good. Spargo getting subbed out and Oliver/Bowie still to come back in raises the question again about too many small fwds in the side. Thoughts? Tommo and Smith had great games, what happens with Petty? personally i think he is a defender, but Tommo is a better defender than any of our fwd back up options are as forwards. Do we stick with Tommo and put Petty fwd? (Smith holds his spot for now, but eventually i think he will need to be replaced)
  15. Good to see McVee get some love in the media today and get a big pump up from Leigh Montagna (who is one of very few so called experts that I don't mind). Have been surprised about the calls for his spot in the side on demonland. Think we have a real gem there and he is only going to grow more. Who do you think is our next Judd McVee? I think it might be Howes, but we never saw Judd coming so who knows.
  16. This is the win we needed to scratch out the past 2 weeks. Not pretty, but being at the game Blues never really looked like closing tgat gap. Amazing how May looks back to his best which another tall down back, Tommo stays in for mine. Also thought smith played an important role as more of a decoy than a key fwd, and I've never been a smith fan so it has taken a bit to say that. I still think we are maybe playing 1 to many small forwards, thought?
  17. In: Tommo, Hunter Out: Harmes, T-Mac
  18. Big issue this week with our talls, not separating enough and allowing their opponent to impact a contest as the third man. Kane Cornes said he doesn't think we need a second Fwd, we should just play JVR and Grundy/Gawn. Which scares me a bit. Is it possible that the continual changing of out tall fwd set up means there is no connection? Should we after the buy set and forget our fwd line?
  19. 40% disp, not very good. ,mind you not alone in the small fwd department
  20. That was an insipid display. fwd entries were horrible, Lever dropped everything that came to him, we missed at least 5 goals from pretty much directly in front. and our hand balling needs to be looked at, either handball 2-3 to many times or we put the ball in the air so our team mate get crunched. And my biggest pet peeve was the amount of times we "carelled" a player and the stop and just ran inside unhindered. Goodwin has an important month ahead, needs to do some work.
  21. I'm not a Boo'r, but have no problem with people doing it, he left the club after 3 years. sure he went home, but it was the $$ that got him there. wasted draft pick and resources on him, they drafted him knowing what he could become and him leaving would have changed the whole recruiting method. Don't care really if people Boo him but some people saying we should applaud him instead is ridiculous !
  22. 70s is Low TOG for key position players. So id say they are managing him and he may even have a week off at some stage
  23. Yes which is were we went wrong last yr, as well as a couple of injuries.
  24. I have no idea, but have a sneaky suspicion they are managing his loads for the secon half of the year. would like to know what his time on ground looks like each game in the VFL
  25. JJ is one of my favorites but it is a player we can afford to lose. and it is apparent he doesn't have the game style that goody and the team want. He is a real in and under midfielder and unfortunately with Oliver, Viney, Trac and Sparrow and even Brayshaw he is to far down the order to be able to play the role he is best at. I'd love to see him thrive and if it's at another club then so be it, as long as its not the Dogs, Coll, Ess or Carl!
