  1. It's not hitouts dominance we need, from him. it's a strong contest & its to see our mids get clearance out of congestion with ball. Starring in the middle getting first touch, is jut purely fluffy up our own supporter feathers. It looks good is all.
  2. He's not in the side for kicks. The big mans job is to mark the ball, crash packs and feed running players. Hit-outs are really hit or miss. Its quality clearances that make big differences to a game. Whether they are from our tap, or from reading the opposing ruck. We need max taking grabs up front, deep. Or in midfield to feed runners. And also blocking for our teammates. If Maxy goes to win ball, he's not thinking of blocking, shepherding, bumping etc. When someone not so skilled goes to take ball, and use ball. Sometimes its to the detriment of more skilled teammates at hand.
  3. And there it is. Suspect and criticise everything. Our very own MfcSS,
  4. What after about 2 games. Your kidding, right. There is no reason why e can't be if he's open minded to it. Same with Gus playing outside. And Dunn didn't like the idea of not being a forward, and Howe was the same.
  5. Go to Alice, I hope. Not so humid/hot. Close to Perth, Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, and easy to Brisbane.
  6. He's out of form like much of the team; and much of the league are out of form, in such a disjointed season. I'd take him out of the midfield setup this year in the claytons year. to make headway with him whilst it s a lesser season. Take him out and play him in a foreign position For me, in a sense a mental demotion will do him good, as think he's gotten ahead of things. Looks cavalier to me. wrong attitude. imo.
  7. Salem shouldn't be in there, not attacking enough imv, he needs to be up the ground, to try to reinvigorate him. Hibberd is as good as cooked. Rivers can play any of the small defence posts, or wing, inside as well. What is this fascination of making players one dimensional. single position players. Is it some sort of Cristian missionary only position. We need our players to be able to play numerous roles, to suit the circumstances.
  8. I don't know how else the coach is supposed to develop other players in position that are locked down by others apart from moving others sideways to another role; not promotion and not demotion, but is teamwork of another type.
  9. His effect on our team, and the opposition is huge. It doesn't have to be off his boot. How many goals does Harmes get per match.?
  10. of course, who else. I think Goody started off, covid spreading around the world.
  11. I TMc is taking the best defender, and he draws that player away from goal; Fritta is one who could get a mis-match being skilled overhead and at ground level. And a reliable kick normally. He is having his own struggle with confidence in front of goal, and so by playing thru that low confidence, should help to toughen him up, as he needs this. IMO. This is why I want to get max out of centre bounces for decent parts of the game because our layers are being reliant on his taps. Unhealthy IF we want a midfield that can win their own hard ball inside. Also Oli, put him where he can work on his weaknesses. make him be accountable for an opponent, either forward or in defence. to teach him to stop blazing away to no one, just forward is not good enough. I think after closer viewing of Oli this season, thanks to Kayo, that he's become lazy of mind, and is only about stats, stats, stats. And less about quality delivery. I think its become, the all about Oli show. ... I wonder if another click is growing within the club.??? I hope not.
  12. Yes, but that Should force other mids to lift this aspect of their game. Why develop our team to be one-dimensional.
  13. I'm starting to wonder if our midfield group has started to believe the hype around them, of the past few seasons. And IF they are getting too high an opinion of themselves.? Maybe they think they are superior to other players of our list. I think our midfield is holding us back, and probably hurting other players development. Such is their poor work ethics to date.
  14. Oliver burned Lockhart badly, last week. Lockhart worked hard ahead of the ball to find space as the direct option, Oliver looked at him and then ignored him, and kicked sideways to another player near boundary. Lockhart was [censored] off, and stopped working after, for a minute or so. It was a glaring burn; and It caused me to wonder if there was some history there.?
  15. At his best, a match-winner. A big game player, imv.
  16. I want to see him in the backline under pressure, and minding an opponent, so he is under pressure. It may well improve his composure and use of the ball, under pressure. Brayshaw sure could use more time inside, at the ruck. # It could also give us the opportunity to try Salem inside with his skills, or Sparrow, or give Pickett a couple of minutes in there, just to see how he looks.? I really would like to see Salem freshened up from centre-line forward. Send Oli or Melk back, to be a small down back. Wwe could rotate Oli between Mids and half Back.
  17. In one contest Oli and Viney rushing for the loose ball, Oli called Viney out to receive, Oli grabbed ball, flicked to Viney, who kicked the ball. Oli could have been the reciever and the all user. He chose to take the easy stat.! He let Viney take the responsibility of hitting a target. I think this encapsulates Oi's mindset. Get lots of stats and everyone's cool. i want to see Oli become a Lot more 'creative', with the ball use. He's gotten lazy, just sticking to his easy bread and butter.
  18. Needs more aggression i think, 'JJc'. I think get him in the gym and build him up more. I think that might help him to attack harder. And more confidence.
  19. I think it goes all the way back to the top, 'MrQ'. I blame Gabriel Zondy for this mess. he's the one we want to sort out the culture issues and lack of leadership. ?
  20. Maybe It's time to play Brayshaw in Oli's position, and put Oli outside on the flanks. Forward &/or back.
  21. We're in ordinary form, and trying to play thru presses. most teams are struggling to get thru disciplined presses. The Lions game, of the highlights I saw, there was open space a plenty. The same in games I recall of the Suns, plenty of space to run int. When we struggle, we ave to look at what the opposition are doing to cause our struggle. And when criticising us against other matches teams good form, we have to see they're opponents actions. To understand why the team is in such good form. I'm looking at our game again at the moment. one thing I noticed was when kicking into our forward-line from a free/mark near the centre, we kicked to in front of the hot spot to a pack of many players of both teams. We did not have forwards spread, to draw defenders apart. Open spaces at the flanks pockets. When the Cats have the ball in our backline, they chip, wait, until they see an avenue forward, either thru corridor or via boundary. The Cats pread wide, and they never stop moving, all players moving, apart from player with ball at the mark. They just all trot about until they find some space opening. IMO we are not as disciplined to be as busy and dedicated as this, we seem to do it in fits and starts. Another thing I'm noticing on this 3rd watch of the match is Oliver's poor decisions with the ball. He is wasteful. Ignoring good options, and burning some teammates efforts. His handballs are too spontaneous and hot, for most players to catch and control. They go to feet, or above heads, like rockets, and as such more often create another loose/contested ball situation. When he kicks the ball, mostly he slams it on boot without any viewing, or skills to boot. Incredibly wasteful, and I suspect his stats are truly over-flattering him. I'm starting to think he should be made to go and play another position, so he has to learn to be responsible for an opponent, and also for his use of the ball. he is too flamboyant with the ball. He gets the ball easily, and he disposes of the ball the same way, without anywhere near enough care. The other end of his disposals are nearly always another contest. .
  22. Viney - 26.2Yr old Salem - 24.11Yr old Harmes - 24.8Yr old Petracca - 24.5Yr old Brayshaw - 24.5Yr old Neal-Bllen - 24.5Yr old Oliver - 22.11Yr old Only Viney is currently in his prime. All the others are yet to reach that age period.
  23. We could go closer to 'man-on-man', in the situation like the Cats game, when they are possessing the ball. Which ironically would likely see them then go long down the line.
  24. Our list is the best its been since 1987. Not the current form line. Last year imv, you can't count, because of so much injury and poor preparation. A one off wrecked season. I think the true formline is thru 2016 - 2017 - 2018 - ...we've been building away at the list since Roosy's time. And I can see anyway, that the list has the most contested players, the most competitive players, and now we have quite a few skilled players, about to come thru into the lineup. So yes, I think this is our best list since the mid 1980's.
  25. Gawn - out-muscled by Fort Viney - lack of sleep Oliver - avoiding bumping opposition Petracca - lacked recent energy Tomlinson - defensive side stoppages Brayshaw - still got it Langdon - the defences friend Salem - switch with melksham? Harmes - working out role Hibberd - good first half Melksham - move down back Hannan - a good hitout Rivers - still did ok May - steady and reliable Fritsch - lack of physicality McDonald - found some energy Lockhart - needs some composure Lever - struggled with judgement Hunt - press too restricting Pickett - good little player Smith - handy size speed VandenBerg - toughness been missed
