I find myself unable to stop rueing the Petty, Melksham and Brayshaw injuries at the end of last year. I reckon we'd be holding a second Cup and sitting comfortably inside the top 4 right now had those 3 never got injured. Instead the Pies are holding another Cup, Brayshaw has retired, Petty is a shadow and Melksham hasn't fired a shot. So tonight I sit and watch a game against and up and coming young team and can't decide whether i care more about 2024 or about the draft for 2025. Then there's the salt being ground into my wounds by watching Grundy and JJ ripping it up for the top team who can't buy an injury and are flying, Dane Swan's in the HOF and Carlton and Essendon are both above us. Sheesh that's some depressing football mood right there.

Its been the latest "fake" rumour. I've got a mate who hears them all and even he, as a Pies supporter, laughed at this one.

Apparently he's a little miffed with our form but believes that if we can hold on tonight, snatch a win next week and then roll WC at the G we'll be right back in it at 10 - 6. He'll then return, Trac will be back for the GF and we'll finally win that second flag. He's an upbeat and confident fella. You better check with WCW ito see if any of this is even remotely true.

Oliver’s form is terrible, he’s also stuck in his grab and dump kick mode. He’s lost his spacial awareness. Of course I wouldn’t drop him. In just the same way I wouldn’t drop Petty. Petty has past good form whereas his possible replacement in Fullarton has none. He was bought in as a break glass in emergency and that means multiple injuries of key talls for him to get a game. Personally I hope Petty signs a contract soon and goes back to defence, in time as Mays replacement. The same way I hope Turner becomes Lever’s replacement down the track. Dropping Petty achieves nothing for us.

The list is still in reasonable shape, some pace and class ala Windsor….just keep bringing that in……oh and a key forward so Petty can replace May.

I reckon he’s a kid with talent. He just needs time. Sign him up and keep playing him.

No to Fullarton from me, just don't see what he brings. Has AMW shown enough? I'm still leaning to Lever for Petracca and maybe Taj as the only changes. These guys need to stand up and North will be no easy beats. Lose this week and it'll be a [censored] around here. God last year disappoints me more and more by the week, 2 Flags would have been so much better than 1.

All untradeable from where I sit. Hunter and Smith need to be gone and Clarry remains the interesting one. However with Viney ageing I think we need him. There's clearly some embers smouldering at the club, who, why, how and what I've no idea but whatever it is it needs to get finished with ASAP. Oh and I want some pace and class through the middle. So if you take this season as a bust we're in a mini rebuild. We need a mid with pace and class and a tall marking forward, we also need a high draft pick to keep an eye on the future. So who are we willing to put up for trade to make this happen? Who or what do you send to Sydney for Logan McDonald? And the same goes for Finn Callaghan from GWS? Does Taylor have his eyes on a high draft pick draftee? What are we going to do to make us better whilst we have the bones of a really strong list?

I’ve not been singled out before….very exciting! It’s not about just wacking him. It was about taking the heat to him and the rest of them. Do you seriously think Gus said don’t apply any heat to Maynard. Besides it’s no longer up to him. His time is sadly over thanks to a guy who must of laughed out loud at our and May’s response to him. We were pathetic.

All well and good but part of the game is still about testing your opponents strength and desire for the contest. Thats where we needed to greet Maynard, hard and borderline fair at the coalface and we didn’t. For me it wasn’t just about showing Maynard it was about showing the football world the kind of club and team we are. The week before we were pantsed by Freo and our reply was an insipid performance against a team one of our leaders had said wasn’t as good as us. Talk, talk, talk, The second half of the season will tell us a lot. Part of me just wants flags so who cares but the other part says stop talking and start grinding out some wins.

Absolutely. I’m not suggesting anyone getting suspended for blindly punching or felling Maynard. Gus doesn’t get to dictate how we play the game. It was a statement game and we failed. Do you think that’s what Gus wanted? When Langdon gave his all duck no dinner shot 3 or 4 pies tackled him legally to make a statement and they rolled us. Watching Petracca shake his hand made me mad as I knew then we weren’t up for the fight.

It's not upto Gus, this was about the current team doing what had to be done. There's no grey here. we simply had to make a statement and we didn't. John Northey would of been disgusted.
