The thing is if we nail these picks and Petracca and Oliver have strong seasons it puts us in a much stronger position to trade one or both for serious compensation.

Essendon the big losers needing to do such a trade. They need multiple top 20 picks. If Kako is a bust as most of their picks are it just condemns them to many more years in no man’s land. Even if he’s elite, small forwards don’t lead you to the promised land they just make the trip exciting. Tassie must be frightening for them. Personally I think it’s absolutely fantastic and a result worthy of a celebration.

Mids all the way for mine. We want Petracca forward as often as possible and I'd still prefer Rivers and MCvee off half back.

It’s interesting that Richardson stated clearly in an interview that we’d be looking to not get any younger. Now it looks like our trading is on a 21 year old from Brisbane, potentially a 23 year old from GWS and a batch of baby faced draftees. (Tom Campbell aside) It feels to me that post reviews he may be on the outer. It also could just of easily been our thought at the time that some draft picks were on the way out for Houston. Personally I’m all for the draft. If we can have some solid youth join our emerging talent our list can be well on the way to revitalised. Maybe we’ve closed the window but opened the door?

I’ve been told by most of my football following friends that all of Oliver, Petracca and Pickett are definitely gone. They’ve also suggested Goodwin is a dud, the club is a joke, the window was never open, the flag doesn’t count as it was in Perth and none of it matters anyway as I’ll be at the snow. One seriously continues with the line that the Doggies were the better team in 21 and hadn’t it been for a few pivotal free kicks they would have won the flag. I just reread this and realised I don’t have to leave Demonland to get these opinions, ain’t life grand!
