Looks like we’re going to disagree again, and to think I tend to always agree regarding your football knowledge. Anyway, he’s run several businesses as big or bigger than Melbourne including one that was part of a worldwide organisation. Business is business, there’s commonalities between all of them from a CEO standpoint. He’ll no doubt be given a brief. Let’s face it his most important job is securing Caulfield. If he pulls that off he’ll achieve, along with those who began the push, what no other club official has managed in over 50 years. Give him his chance.

So is the club expected to go for a lesser candidate who can start today? I’m really not sure what the concerns are.

Any major club decisions will include him. How long do you think it takes to discuss important matters? Even if we were to sack Goodwin, which if done this year would financially would be a terrible decision, do you seriously think he wouldn’t be involved? Do you think he can’t meet stakeholders before his official start date?

I’d be very surprised if he isn’t spending time each week working with the club and its stakeholders. I’m guessing he’ll be at our matches pretty regularly.

Slightly different as Chandler takes him part side on and slams him into the turf. Curtis is completely from behind. Very hard for Curtis to change anything when the player immediately falls to his knees propelling them both forward.

Time to start moving up that ladder
  7. He'll need another preseason working his backside off to get back in his best shape. I presume to club know this. If he can't do this we should trade him.

Well at least he talks like he knows what he's talking about. Question: Is Pert still working on Caulfield and if not does anybody know who's handling it at club level until September?
  9. I'm not a betting man but I'll take some of what you're laying down.
  10. Are you saying he's misbehaving off field?

I think Goodwin has been unfairly tarnished by his straight sets 22 and 23 finals. I think you can criticise the entire team for their loss to carlton in 23 as that remains one of the most ill disciplined games I've seen from this group but injuries cooked us in both those years yet we finished top 4, a fair effort. Clearly some ego's ran out of control last year but we might just be watching him turn a contest and defence team into a pretty decent transition team. Disappointed we lost to GWS and North but if we can remain largely injury free we just might get on a roll. We'll have to wait and see but Goodwin just may make his mark this year and next. I'll also say that I've had my doubts over the journey and still do.

His number one priority is Caulfield, plain and simple. As far as I'm concerned if he gets that over the line he's done his job. Fail to do that and we'll be ridiculed for the appointment whether it's his fault or not.
  13. Out of interest what are your doubts on Langford. I think he looks a rippa, every bit as good as Lindsay.
  14. We'll either be booking our skiing or getting ready for finals at the end of that. Just beat Hawthorn and Collingwood amongst the wins.
  15. I think we'll smash them and then roll the Hawks, that's the win I really really want.
  16. Ins: Turner, JVR.....I think both are part of our best 22 and need to be back in the side. Outs: Fullerton, Sharp.......I'm not sure either is best 22 although Sharp as sub is ok.

We'd have to pay him out 100% of his contract and keep that amount in the soft cap making it very unlikely we would sack him this year.

His contract guarantees him to the middle of next season, it’s really that simple.
  19. So play at Casey until you reach the minimum standard required. His defensive stats are laughable.

We've Kalani White coming through, Will Verrall seems to be progressing ok and Max has 2 after this year. If we can nab an ok ready to go ruck in his mid 20's we should be fine. I'm going to miss Max a lot though, absolute legend and he'll only grow in stature in our memories. He's immortal, joins Barrassi and Flower and then daylight.
  21. Firstly he’s not even in Dusty Martin’s orbit so let’s leave them in different paragraphs. Secondly he’s become lazy. Thirdly, if you can’t harass, tackle and chase then you don’t play, especially in a transition game when sound defence is so important. He’s nowhere near good enough to be excused from the defensive side of the game. Work harder or play at Casey.

Can’t see us not making finals and then taking the flag from 6th Elimination final V Carlton W by 56 Semi Final V Hawks W by 34 Preliminary V Collingwood W by 29 GF V Geelong W by 7 after being 56 points down late in the second. Only having kids would top that 4 weeks. That’s rolled gold!
  23. No, you're talking to you!
  24. You're talking to yourself again.
  25. A modern team doesn’t expect it 100% of the time. It’s outdated rubbish. There are always going to be players taking short steps from time to time. I’ve seen Viney think twice. If it’s the incident I think Langford still ended up with the ball? Ex players are suffering the effects of concussion yet you expect an 18 year old to never flinch. I’d be very surprised if players weren’t told to short step from time to time. It’s the smart play.
