9 Reasons to be Positive Heading into 2025
Roost it far replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
What a pathetic article. He couldn’t even be bothered discussing why McVee and Rivers were positive. This is why I don’t read mainstream football stories. No serious analysis, just the scraps the clowns seem to share around to save them self the bother of doing any actual journalism. -
As it stands we’ve got pick 5, if we could add pick 9, maybe add Brisbanes pick 18 by adding sweetener’s to a Harry Sharp trade and then see what happens with Oliver……we could end up with 4-5 picks in the top 28, that’d help set us up for the future. Yes I know all speculation atm.

No or wer’re bottom 4

Hence we need 3 top 20 picks, 2 mids and the best forward available, whether that is big or small depends on the available talent.

Wasn’t The Brand annoyed that not everyone on the list behaved and trained like a very well paid professional sportsman should in a team sport? The Brand works incredibly hard to present in their absolute best shape and wants to win Flags. It all played out poorly for them and the club but I find it interesting that since then it feels Oliver is being pushed out. I don’t know the inner workings but the vibe I get is there’s many in the club who are sick of his issues and want a fresh start, The Brand well and truly included in this group. Isn’t it this division within the club that has allowed the media a field day on half truths, innuendo and mere speculation? Get on the same page people!

Trading a player like Oliver with his issues and huge contract is always going to be a media [censored]
-
What’s said in public is often completely different to what’s said between 2 clubs. My guess is we’ve told Geelong, if you want him show us a respectable offer but leave the media out of it. I’d hazard a guess that Melbourne think they can get most/all the salary of the books, get Geelongs F1 and trade that back into this years draft. If we get 3 top 20 picks and pick 28 it goes a long way to changing the look and skill set of the team.
-
Jeez that’s a high price in a reputed strong draft. I’d say 10 is overs.

The club website 😂😂😂😂😂

I didn’t sign him, currently that sits outside my remit.

Does this mean Brian Cook is available?

The Brand will likely shake his hand…..sorry couldn’t help myself.

The difficulty the club finds itself in is the fact that our stars are ageing at the same time Tassie is on the horizon. If we bomb next year but Trac and Oliver reclaim some form then I would field offers. They would have to be very good offers, likely unrealistically good for a move to happen. But if The Brand comes to the club and says he wants out and a club says here's 2 top 10 picks then I'd consider the request.
-
I think when you add them to our established senior core I believe our list is pretty sound. We need to recruit mids, I'd love McAdam to fulfil his talked about potential and I'd love a big, mobile key forward who can ruck, you know like that guy Jackson in Fremantle.
-
That means nothing. You win flags by recruiting kids and topping up your gaps when the time is right.
-
Dude, Oliver at or near his best is our only hope of snagging a flag over the next few years. Forget how teams our winning flags atm, it's all about how the next team wins a flag and although I'm doubtful it'll be us it won't be because we didn't trade Oliver for a peanut.
-
There's little doubt we have an eye on the future. However if those in the 19-23 bracket come on like we're hoping there's no reason we can't be competing at the top end over the next 3 - 4 years. The missing ingredient appears to be stability across the club, without it we won't win a raffle.
-
We’ll be giving F1 and 28 to get pick 10 or 11 from Freo. If that happens I’d call it outstanding trading on our behalf. Clubs are crawling over each other to get high picks this year.
-
if we crash and burn next year then I’d trade one or both for 2 very high picks each, I’d just be on the front foot about it and own the decision across the whole club. Crash the media by spelling out what we’re doing and why. I’d do everything possible to keep Kozz.
-
I’m no expert in game plans but the one we perfected for 21 could have easily netted us another flag in 23 bar a shocking injury and some poor kicking for goal and this whole thread would be moot. Anyway here we are watching Brisbane play and everyone’s saying we’ve got to play like that. I’d actually like to see us play a style that suits our strengths and back ourselves to beat the others. Sure I hope it involves some more attacking moves which is why Houston was in the radar. I’m trusting JT to bring in some plug and play talent to go with Windsor and others to push us forward. I’m not as confident about 25 as I was but hopefully the noise goes away and we can get back to business.
