  1. I understand why people want to keep Brad, the question is where do you draw the line? It's fine to say "we must keep Green" but the club has limited expenditure. If he wants too much it's bye bye Brad, simple as that. The club can't be held to ransom. Our guys are on the same coin as Geelong this year FFS. If he's being too greedy package him to Carltank with pick19 for pick 6.
  2. So does anyone still think White should be playing before Jamar? I thought he was less effective around the ground than the big Russian, and not even close to him at the ruck contests. Thanks for a great career Jeff but sadly it's time up. You are the poor supporter Cards. If you think Whites performance was good and above critisism you need to take the blinkers off. If you think we just should never critisise Melbourne players you are a fool
  3. Purely based on his ruckwork, ignoring the round the ground stuff, I'd rate Jamar as one of the best in the league. He is ferocious at the ruck contests and follows up when the ball hits the ground. I love it! I said at the time and still say, he kickstarted our season. His game against Sandilands was massive, he was beaten in the first half, but had launched into the giant at every contest and wore him down. After half time he flogged Sandilands and gave our mids first use time and time again. The improvement we've made since that horrible start to the year began with Jamar. I'd hate to lose him. Having said that, I want this club to be ruthless in pursuit of a flag. Every decision we make needs to be with 2012-2015 as the focus. If we can get Warnock and the club sees a good value trade, so be it. If the deal was good enough, I wouldn't see any player as "off the table".
  4. Wouldn't trade Jamar for less than Carltank's 2nd round pick, 25 or so, Meesen went in the 30's. Wouldn't give up much for Alwyn either. We need to be trading for high draft picks, not trading them away.
  5. Kids I know love that stuff, walk into any toy store and there's no shortage of "scary" stuff. A scary Demon is more appealing to kids than a blue whatever the hell that is, but Carltank isn't short of supporters.
  6. He's hardly alone in the poor skills department Doggo. Jamar is one of many on the list whose development was hindered rather than helped under Daniher. He has shown plenty of improvement this year and so have the others (Miller, PJ, CJ, Warnock, etc). He's still reasonably young for a ruckman. If he can keep improving, disposal being an obvious area he needs to work on, I think he could end up a pretty good ruck.
  7. The club should get to work on a new demon immediately, and the design must be pure evil! I want a demon that will inspire fear. That was Checker's intent when he came up with it. I can't remember a demon logo ever looking in the least bit scary. It's a new era, a fresh beginning on and off field. If Jimmy can put the evil back in the demon and Bails can get can make us a feared unit on field, supporters will come
  8. The bummers have been the number 1 team for clearances in the past month. If White had been playing we would have been smashed in the clearances and on the scoreboard IMO. Jamar had 12 disposals, 9 contested. Please find me a game in the last 3 years where White had 75% of his possies in contested situations, or even 9 of his 20+ touches. Jamar may not pick up 15 dinky little sideways kicks a match, but his value at the stoppages is way ahead of Whites. That's a ruckmans job, to get you first use
  9. Exactly Deanox, even to pay the minimum, what is it 95%, of the cap, we're going to be overpaying blokes for the next year or two. Load up his contract early to get him here. He's young and ready to go and drafting ruckmen isn't a presice science. We need to be aiming squarely at 2012 onwards as serious premiership opportunities and he'll be right in his prime.
  10. Really, sweet! I posted this on one of the Casey threads a while ago, if on the extremely odd chance it ever got up, I'd be claiming it. The Furious D.C.G, I like the sound of that
  11. Bugger you eastside homeys, build it out west! In case you haven't noticed Whyndam in the fastest growing city in Melbourne, Melton is 3rd I think. Casey's old hat, yesterday's news. I live less than 20 mins from the CBD and I'm surrounded by paddocks! Public Transport is non existant but we've got bike paths. Casey might as well be Warnambool for all the good it does me. Seriously though, cricket grounds of the world, just down the road from South Yarra station. Check it out on google earth. Owned by the MCC. Can anyone tell me what goes on here, is it open to the public, would there be a backlash if a nice little boutique stadium were to pop up in the vicinity. Close to trains and trams, slightly south east. The MCC is in the stadium business and if they owned or part owned it we wouldn't need to feel like we were leaving home, just playing at our smaller place in the burbs . A pipedream I know but wouldn't it be nice. Edit: Just went back for another look at google earth, every cricket groud is prefaced cricket grounds of the world, do'h, don't know what the joint is called
  12. I posted about the golden opportunity the compromised drafts present us with months ago (before the Freo game I think) and what I've seen since has convinced me. Next year when most of the dead wood is gone we'll have the youngest list in the league by a country mile. In 5-7 years when the shonky drafts are starting to bite other clubs as the stars of today retire, we aren't losing anyone through retirements, in fact our list will be just starting to peak. We'll have a crop of 100+ game 23 year olds coming through. Brock will be 27-29, Nate Jones 25-27. The premiership backline is already starting to take shape, our midfield has plenty of grunt it just needs to find some polish and a decent ruck, and the forwardline needs a tall or two. We've got 5 years to find the missing pieces of the premiership puzzle. 2013-2015, the three-deepeat. The biggest obstacle we'll face is our supporters. People didn't want to trade Ferg, they whined like the club had shot their grandmother when a useless lazy partyboy like T.J was given the flick. A couple of years from now the hole in our list (26-28 y.o's from memory) will be retirement age. Competition for spots will be intense and there will have to be trades and delistings to ensure we're not in the same predicament we find ourselves in now re list management, 5 years further down the track. Some hard decisions will have to be made and some decent young talent may be traded. I just hope the members will stick fat during this period, it'll look like we're offloading blokes just as we're coming good
  13. Say what you like Boomer but 20,000 sets of eyes and the t.v cameras don't lie. Just accept the fact that the respect the footballing public once had for you is gone. You are the whining sook, the antithesis of what our game is about, the opposite of what it is to be an Australian male. If this squib wins the brownlow the rules must be changed immediately. Diving and staging should be reportable and mean instant disqualification from the games highest honour.
  14. Boomer for Beijing, diving little pussbag. Always been a diving marshmallow, today he adds hypocritical whining sook to the resume. Go play tennis you soft [censored]
  15. I don't have a problem with your scepticism Hazy but it's clear that PMac was not on the same page as anyone else at the club. 5mill for 5 years for a great but aging player whose ability to influence a game in 3 years, when our young list matures, will be questionable at best. All I've heard from anyone else is youth. Then there's the bright idea of trying to sell ourselves as elitist, non inclusive snobs. Great future in that. Nothing I've seen or heard from McNamee in the past 4 months has impressed me much. I don't think it's blind faith, it's just hope. These are dark days hazy, the club was crying out for someone to put their hand up. Gardner had pretty much stated he didn't have the time to devote to us that was necessary. Jim stepped forward and I don't see too many other options for us at the minute, other than give the new board a chance to get it right. I just hope like hell that they do.
  16. So are you suggesting no action by the board until after an AGM to vote them in? Certain suicide. I agree its not ideal but they must act
  17. I thought he was only getting the 115K, so they had deducted his Wimbledon jaunt and were just paying him for days actually on the job, could be wrong though.
  18. Goodbye and good riddance I say. What ideas did he have, to market ourselves as snobs and get J Brown. The first idea is certain death and the second is none of his goddamn business. CEO's don't manage lists, except maybe Skase and Edelsten. How exactly has this cost the club money, recruitment process aside. As far as I can tell he is receiving 3 months pay for 4 months employment, sounds like we're saving a little coin. How much is Spargo getting to temp? Probably a lot less than Mac was on. The board don't have a year to twiddle their thumbs and wait to see how Mac goes. If they feel he's the wrong man for the job I'm glad they moved him on straight away, best to get all the pain out of the way as quickly as possible
  19. Like most here I've ben disappointed with Col, but his body has let him down. If we can get a decent forward out of him, great, but I'd give him a chance to get himself right while playing forward before I write his midfield chances off.
  20. Welcome aboard grimesy. Agree he's no O'keefe yet Dee tention, talking more about potential. And pheonix, I might be wrong but I think his preseason was a bit restricted this year, more hope that next year his motor may be better
  21. I was coming until a mate I haven't seen for a few years rocked up at my door half an hour before I was gonna leave. Good to see him but disappointed I missed the bash
  22. Col reminds me a lot of Ryan O'Keefe up forward. I think he has the potential to be as good or better in the next few years, hope like hell he can deliver.
  23. Agree 100% DD. Most laughable suggestion I think I've ever heard. My big question over this riduculous west Sydney proposal is where do they play? If North and us can't make a profit at the G and the doggies can't at the dome what sort of hope in hell have WS got of making a profit at Homebush? A 100,000 seat stadium with a couple of hundred people in it CAN"T WORK! Wake up Vlad and put teams in Tassie and Darwin.
