  1. Pick 51 is our 5th pick this draft. That's 3 picks after Hawthorn's third round selection. In a draft that's supposed to run as deep as this one we MUST use that pick. Pick 1 in the PSD is also a pick we should use imo. The national draft is a high pressure situation with time restrictions. It's good to be able to sit down after the dust settles and see who got passed by, especially if you've got first crack at what's left. If there's still someone left at 67 that we're keen on,we could use that intstead of our psd pick, but we need 6 picks minimum. If we can't get rid of Nafe or the AFL won't let us replace him because his salary must be counted next season, we must either delist Bell or Dunn or leave Aussie and Wonna on the rookie list. We'd be crazy to go no deeper than what's almost a third round pick in a deep draft
  2. Trade period is over and nothing's changed for the Dees. Now the club faces some tough decisions before the draft. We currently have 6 spaces on our list, before any rookie elevations. 1.Do we elevate Wonaemirri and/or Valenti? 2.Do we delist any more players? 3.How many picks do we use in the draft and psd? Fwiw here's what I reckon. I'd leave Valenti on the rookie list for another year, with our track record we need at least 1 ready made to step up when/if one of our mids goes down with injury. I reckon Wonna probably deserves to go on the senior list after coming 2nd in the goalkicking. I'm not convinced he'll make it, there's been plenty of players who've shown a bit before being ultimately exposed at AFL level, but he's earned a shot imo. At least one more needs to be shown the door! I'm not 100% sure but I think only Moloney, Dunn and Bell aren't contracted for next year. Please correct me if I've got this wrong. I like Moloney, I still have hope for Dunn and the only thing that would save Daniel Bell if it was my call, would be if we can get rid of Chop, chop some how. I don't want to pay him out if we can help it, but we have to get him away from Brock and the rest of the lad's asap. If we can fit it in the 92.5% of salary cap for next year we may just have to cut our losses and be done with him. That'd leave 6 picks. I'd use picks 1, 17 ,19, 35 and 51 in the national draft and pick 1 in the psd. Good to have 1 psd pick so you can take your time after the draft and have a good look at your options. There may be delistings at other clubs and you can invite a few kids who missed out to training for a closer look.
  3. [topic=http://www.melbournefc.com.au/tabid/7415/Default.aspx?newsid=68889]http://www.melbournefc.com.au/tabid/7415/Default.aspx?newsid=68889 Confirmation from Connolley "Sydney had a strong interest and there was an early draft pick linked into that, and that got played out in the end." Sydney offered pick 16 as part of the ROK deal. I'm glad at least 1 opposition AFL coach rates Greeny at somewhere near his value. I think in the last 2 years theres been less stand out games but an overall much more consistent standard from Brad. Hopefully this'll continue for the next couple of years at least, because it'll be at least that long before we'll start to see consistency out of younger players.
  4. Unlike Yze, before he signed his generous 3 year retirement package, he had only played about 180 straight. <_< Brad may feel unloved but the club MUST stop handing out contracts like the ones that got us into this mess. People complain we're paying 100% of the salary cap for a spoon then whinge that the club isn't paying enough to an average footballer at best. The fact that Brad is even considered for the captaincy says more about the state of our list than his leadership ability. The players obviously don't consider him a leader but people on here with no idea of the dynamics of the team declare him a monty for the role.
  5. If someone wants to pay me $150,000 more than I'm worth and I'd be pretty keen to go work for them. Players don't always end up where they want to, the challenge is to show him we're worth staying at if he does fall into our laps.
  6. That'd be a massive win for us, sign now! I think Sydney would want at least another fringe player from us
  7. Partially answered your own question Schtacker. How many games has he "turned" in the last 2 years. Great value for a rookie but not even top 50 in the Afl. Decent small forward, less than average midfielder.
  8. I'd be stoked with either of those, people on here overrate Davey massively. And before you all start dribbling about marketability let me tell you I couldn't give a flying rat's rectum. Bindi freakin Irwin is marketable but I don't want her in the forward pocket, I just want a premiership before I die.
  9. cheers freo.
  10. They're looking for a pick to give Freo. Walker has been on the park less than Rivers lately, no thanks.
  11. Carlton will struggle to get both O'Keefe and Warnock, but that's what the greedy bastards want. Sydney won't accept any less than a top 10 and Freo have already knocked back pick 24. Without throwing some players in the mix and probably getting some other clubs involved, they're no hope. Problem is they've got spuds and stars and not much in between. Right now I'd have us as just under a 50/50 chance to land Warnock, if Carltank really want O'Keefe. The question I have is, if we land Warnock are we obliged to match Carlton's offer salary wise, our earlier offer, or can we pay him what he's actually worth?
  12. Is it possible to trade PSD picks? Our #1 PSD pick could land them one of the big fish on offer if said fish is prepared to screw their old club.
  13. Still heard nothing official. Was anything mentioned at the B&F? Only a couple of days till trade week. From what I can make out Green, Moloney, Dunn and Bell haven't signed contracts for next year.
  14. Jamar's ruckwork this year was nowhere near as bad as you and many others make out BB. I'm talking purely at the bounces, ballups and throwins, he needs to improve around the ground but his rucking is at least decent. He beat Sandilands, Charman and Jeff White amongst others this year.
  15. Don't know how to do a link but on the AFL site Bails hasn't ruled out landing Warnock, saying "things happen in trade week, it's like the Bermuda triangle"
  16. Did I read somewhere he led the under 16 carnival a couple of years back in every midfield stat? I think it was him. Pretty impressive
  17. Haven't even heard Rich's name mentioned. How slow was he? anyone heard?
  18. I don't consider Davey untouchable. Garland, McLean and last years draftees are the only untouchables for me. You'd have to give up someone good and young to have any hope, maybe Jones and 19. The major problem with your plan is Port. Brogan and Lade are getting on, so's Tredrea, Vickery might look pretty good to them.
  19. Who are these experts and where can I read their opinions? I've read plenty who've said Watts is probably the best fit for us out of a very even top 3, but not one "expert" who claims Rich is far and away the #1 pick. If it's not in your head give me names.
  20. The point is Freak, and you refuse to aknowledge it, Rich is NOT clearly the best available. There is NO clear standout #1 pick. None of those players you mention was ever considered a potential #1, Watts is. Your "evidence" is irrelevant. Then you gloss over the fact that Buddy was picked up at 5, you would have taken Deledio Freak, and Tambling I bet. Anything but a kpp because they're risky. Molan was a long time ago, get over it. The fact is we have needs everywhere, Kpp's, mids and rucks are all a priority. The only one of those 4 I don't really want is Naita. He's the biggest risk and wears the YM curse, please stay on him YM. Vickery could be a smoky, does he play CHF or FF when playing forward? My preferred order atm is Watts, Vickery, Rich, Naita, but I won't make up my mind till after the camp results.
  21. Hawthorn is in a make or break situation right now. If they can't convince Tasmanians to give up on their own club and take the handful of games the hawks are offering, they are as screwed as us.
  22. It'll be getting pretty crowded in the back office at Visy.
  23. I have, nothing there. Despite giving my email address to the club at least 3 times in the last year the only thing I've ever recieved from them over the internet was my invite to the debt demolition luncheon, and that was only after they rang me to ask for it (that was the third time I gave it to them). It makes me a frustrated d.
  24. Where is this survey?
  25. Never judged him or critisised him in a public forum Jaded, unlike some. But privately I must admit I had my doubts about the boy, think plenty would have.
