  1. This week is dragging. Can't wait for this game to roll around
  2. As far as Carlton being an up and coming team, I'll believe it when i see it
  3. Get friendly with H McKay's agent, lay the groundwork, make sure we have cap space and have a red hot go at bringing him across when he hits free agency in 2 years time Other than bringing Maynard in I can't see any high profile acquisitions this trade period
  4. The MRP adjudicated the North incident as no case to answer (looked accidental to me). I donโ€™t recall the incident with Grainger-Barass he refers to. Nobody seriously questioned the Hind incident either Just more standard Dermie guff
  5. Decent looking prospect (based on the limited highlights). A potential replacement for Lauren Pearce down the track.
  6. The Doggies are not a stand out team. The Suns brought the heat on the weekend and with a bit more class would have beaten them. As long as we bring our pressure and intensity we'll win. We're not in great form at the moment but we've brought the heat for all our big games this year so no reason to believe we won't this weekend.
  7. Take a look at the ladder CYB. We're top. Far out it doesn't take long for the defeatism to settle in around here. We've beaten all our Top 8 rivals this year remember including the Dogs. They were befuddled the last time we played them. Saturday night was a shocker but we can bounce back. The coaching team will get a hold of the players this week and remind them how we got to the top in the first place. Roles and system. We'll roll the dogs I reckon.
  8. We need a head scratcher emoji
  9. All fair points Thereโ€™s no denying our history. Weโ€™ve been pathetic for a long time But weโ€™ve made great strides this year. Coaching has improved out of sight, defensively weโ€™re first rate and we have some genuine game changers in our team. Apart from our excellent record against the top teams what has really given me belief is our ability to wrest momentum most notably against the tiges and lions. I donโ€™t remember us ever doing that before. Weโ€™re always in the game Weโ€™ve work to do maturity wise. It was very slack to allow the Hawks back into it after we dominated the first quarter. We still need to learn how to put the lesser lights away and manage that expectation. Itโ€™ll come. I'm very hopeful for the future
  10. The 2004 team has zero relevance for this group We have a mental block when it comes to the lesser teams. It's strange how these things develop but i reckon we'll continue struggle as the pattern has been set. The Suns and Adelaide games will be grinds On the flip side our record v Top 8 is exemplary. The coaching staff will be re-enforcing the importance of roles and system this week and i fully expect an improved performance against the Doggies. I reckon we'll beat them and all will be rosy in the garden again. Finals will bring a different pressure. I've no idea how we'll hold up
  11. I think the AFL's intent was made pretty clear yesterday when the Swans and Giants game went ahead. Come hell or high water this season will be completed
  12. Absolutely but it would feel hollow
  13. The cats are a bunch of insufferable whingers but asking for your home game at your home ground is hardly unreasonable
  14. They're playing like a bottom 4 side which means they'll probably beat us
  15. I'm more confident of beating the Doggies than the Suns
  16. the EBA doesn't stop players from practicing in their own time. Proper professionals would do it. I reckon BB does
  17. Goal kicking in this game is worse than last night
  18. If there's one area we should pay someone to help with its goal kicking. Find the best coach in the business and pay them top dollar. Maybe some cash is freed up through Burgess moving on to cover the cost
  19. I can't think of another AFL example of a team beating the better sides but struggling against weaker teams. Closest analogy i can think of is in soccer where every so often a team has a much better record in away games compared to home games. It's purely psychological. Less expectation away from home allows the players to play without pressure whereas at home in front of the expectant home crowd they can't get it done. We haven't learned yet to deal with favoratism and expectation. I think its all part of our journey to becoming a mature team. We've taken big strides this year but there's still a ways to go.
  20. You're persistent @Hellofatime. I'll give you that
  21. Must do better
  22. I think we're still dealing with the legacy of recruiting contested beasts rather than footballers. Brayshaw, Viney and clayton (but he more than makes up for it around the ball) are dreadful kicks. Even Trac is a dodgy kick for goal. Spargs, salem and Melks (when in the team) are our only reliable kicks.
  23. A very uninspiring set of fixtures today. A north win over the bombers would be funny but tbh i'm not in the humor to laugh at other clubs today given our pathetic performance last night
  24. BDA replied to CHF's topic in Melbourne Demons
If past performance is any guide we'll finish 16-5-1. We'll beat Doggies, WCE and Geelong and lose to GC and the Crows
