I wasn’t comparing to 2018 specifically more a general comment. We had to invest in our defence as Frosty and OMac weren’t the answer. Other than Ridley the bombers don’t have a defender of Top 4 quality. They drafted a promising defender whose name escapes me but you would think they will have to trade someone in. They need a Weitering type player to partner Ridley I reckon.

We have an exceptional crop of young players. Jason Taylor should be knighted. We'll be a Top 4 team for the next 10 years on the back of his stellar recruitment.

I thought the boilover was on but Essendon were pathetic after quarter time. Like us a few years ago they need some serious investment in their defence otherwise they will never get near Top 4.

My favourite non Dees player is Toby Greene. A mongrel, rat cunning, Rolls Royce player. The perfect blend of steel and silk. If we can contain him we go a long way to winning the game. May to get the job for mine. Our defence was back to its domineering best last week. I expect a similar strangulation today. GWS are the type of opponent we have struggled against. We need to be switched on for this. Hoping to see Viney crack in and inflict some pain. If we kick straight, a 5-6 goal win. If we don’t, another nervous 10 point win

Parish kicking pretty ordinary

Cats are miles off it tonight. Danger looks cooked

one of the few likable richmond players. stellar career.

Delighted with the result last night. They're not wrong when they say the cliff can arrive quickly. I'll go against the grain and say i prefer an Essendon win tonight. Push the geriatric cats a little closer to their cliff. Although a dodgy umpire decision late in the game to win it for Geelong would be worth it just to see the Essendon fans heads explode.

He's a sniper but looks like butter wouldn't melt in his mouth

F**kin hate Tom Lynch

I think we're witnessing the death throes of this Richmond team. Well off the pace and lucky not to be 6 goals down. I can't see a come back

I though BB deserved to play selection committee have been getting it right all year so i'll back their judgment but i would think BB has to come in next week. We can't continue to tolerate a misfiring forward set-up and leave a 60-goal per season player in the 2's.

Any idea who goes out Parma?

Both teams have a history of stuffing up! Watch England now lose to the Ukraine on penalties If they do win the Euros i'm glad i'm the other side of the world because their supporters will be insufferable

As well as the Feds did early on through closing borders I’m afraid the vaccine roll out has been a shambles I thought Scotty was supposed to be a marketer? The mixed messaging over the past few weeks has been really poor so no wonder people are hesitant. Keeping life suspended in our island bubble with rolling lockdowns is just not sustainable. For me borders need to re-open and we all get back to something resembling a normal life sooner rather later. The Feds need to stock up on vaccines and tell the public its vaccine v covid. Make your choice.

Local media pundits not taking MFC as a serious threat.
BDA replied to John Crow Batty's topic in Melbourne Demons
The doggies were flummoxed, we ran the Lions off their feet and the Cats old legs will tire over the journey. We are rock solid defensively and I reckon the fittest team in the league. The media are distracted by bright shiny things. I’m not fussed. I prefer to be under-estimated. Come September I’ll back in May, Lever, our game plan and fitness over every other team. -
GWS were very poor v the hawks. they had a great chance to move into the 8 and completely fluffed their lines. They are just not very good Toby Greene is a super player. We'll have to keep a close eye on him. It's a job for May I reckon. Contain Greene and i don't think the Giants have much else to offer. If we kick straight we win by 6-7 goals. If we don't them it'll be another nervous 10-15 point win

The proceeds will help fund our new home base. If we ever get a new home base.

Percentage should not be an aim in and of itself. It’s a by-product. We don’t get full value for our dominance because we miss too many gettable set-shots. Its going to cost us one of these days. Improve our goal kicking and our percentage takes care of itself.

We haven't put teams away like the doggies have but we beat them without too much fuss when we played them. Our system and structure beat their champagne football. We nullified Libba at source, denied them space through the corridor and that was the game. Beveridge has his work cut out devising a plan against us. We’ve beaten all the top teams. The dogs have lost to Geelong, Richmond and us. I reckon they are more worried about us than we are of them. We beat them comprehensively once and I back us to beat them again at the G

Scar tissue - long suffering MFC supporter issues

It's a pity the West Coast crowd aren't present to witness this. Neck and neck with Essendon as the most entitled supporters in the league.

If Ben Brown doesnt play the rest of the year
BDA replied to picket fence's topic in Melbourne Demons
He did what he had to do today. If he can take the best defender and contribute 2 goals a game its a big win for us. He's well capable of that imv. Let's get him back in and see if we can make it work. We need to find out sooner rather than later. If it fails we can revert back to the extra small. -

Top of the table, no injuries, no contract concerns, game plan stands up, everyone has bought in. And we haven't hit top gear yet. There's improvement to come. The one team i was really worried about have run aground. There'll be no norm smith for dusty this year. We should not fear any other team in this league. Just need to sharpen our goal kicking (BB finding form would be huge) and fingers crossed we have luck with injuries. We're in great shape for a proper crack at the flag.
