PRESEASON TRAINING: Friday 22nd November 2024
BC_1718_DC replied to Satyriconhome's topic in Melbourne Demons
Lindsay is coming off a PCL so is probably a month or so off full training 👍🏼 -
Believe you can spend up to 5 years on the rookie list but still only 3 years as a category B. So when we pick Mentha we’ll have 36 senior listed, 6 cat A rookies and 1 cat b rookie (Mentha). hopefully our second cat b in the future can be an Irishman 😁
-
Johnson was drafted barely an hour ago and you’ve already got him as a potential delisting? You need a new hobby. not to mention a number of those blokes are contracted beyond next year🥱
-
Moniz-Wakefield had to be upgraded to a category A rookie after 3 years on the B list. We will pick Mentha as a cat b tomorrow. One category B spot left over.
-
This sounds good but it’s not reality. A bid would’ve come for Daicos if Collingwood had kept their pick. Just like if Brisbane had an early pick tonight someone would’ve bid on Ashcroft earlier to make them pay up. Sounds funny and all, but once those picks get traded in anticipation of matching with later picks, teams aren’t as fussed to bid.
-
The thought of that is a team would’ve bid on Kako if Essendon kept pick 9 but now because they traded it, teams don’t see the need. That’s the funny buggers teams usually play. Luckily this time it went to our advantage. We did have genuine interest in him though, it was just scuppered when they opened up the nga rules halfway through the season 🙄
-
If Melbourne want Chandler to go higher up the ground (potentially in an ANB role) , we know what Kozzy is like with his suspensions and his flirting with going home and our extreme interest in Nick Watson last year carried on to our big interest in Kako this year, Joe Berry makes a lot of sense. in JT we trust, right? 👍🏼
-
Just broke into a sweat at the thought of Berry at 9. Let Freo take him and we can get him back in a year when Kozzy requests a trade there🫣
-
Willem Duursma (eligible for next year likely top 5 pick) is who he was referring to. But yep, the name drop of Lindsay pricked my ears also.
-
In that scenario that means Tauru is available at pick 9 👀
-
Smillie for Melbourne? Nah.
-
Yes. The links and Armstrong talk has dropped off pretty quickly for a lot of clubs. Maybe it’s a tactic, but won’t be one of our picks (which I’m stoked about)
-
No way.
-
Armstrong is the slider. Cal has said a few times now he thinks he could get to Richmond’s picks near the 20’s. Interviewed poorly with numerous clubs.
-
Too many sleepers on Xavier Lindsay at our pick in my opinion. Reckon he’s a red hot chance to be the one even if Allan is still available. (Although Richmond picking him at 6 wouldn’t be a surprise with their confidence of Smillie getting to pick 10).
-
Assuming we keep 5 & 9, who are you picking?

Tauru, Lindsay and Mentha all Gippsland Power boys. Hmmmm👀 -
PRESEASON TRAINING: Monday 18th November 2024

Bowey was pretty much stuffed after that injury in Round 1. Not many players come back flying after a 12 week injury. -
They are all flights risks when the WA clubs offer them such big money. Even more so when they are guns (which is what Jason Taylor drafts more often than not)
-
I’m not worried on Jeffo. But Turner will never be a May replacement. He’s the Lever replacement if anything with the way he plays as that interceptor. Petty also doesn’t look like a number 1 to me, a number 2 sure but not the general. We need that hulking full back like May.
-
Spot on
-
Was looking forward to this, still tonight? 😂😂
-
We need a May replacement not a Lever replacement lol
-
Langford and Lindsay is a great combination I reckon. Still think there’s a chance we slide back with 9 though and get an extra pick in the 20’s.
-
Just can’t see us taking Langford AND Allan. 2 190cm+ left footed big bodied mids? Dont think so in my opinion.
-
Brayshaw was completely unexpected. Had completed the whole preseason before the testing results came back so all the mechanisms to get a replace right then were shut. Unfortunately just extremely unlucky and terrible timing. Not to mention he was integral to us. Mcadam *unfortunately* is nothing more than a depth player.
