  1. Harry Sharp also signed on a 3 year contract 👍🏼
  2. Aidan Johnson and Henderson were the two they were talking about. Henderson would’ve been picked at our last selection if we got a tall (Tauru) instead of one of Langford/Lindsay. But they went with Johnson because they selected the two mids first up. Worked out in the end👍🏼
  3. Any player placed on the inactive list means they will be out for at least the whole season. They can’t be taken off it until the following year which means they’re marked ineligible to play at any level until the next season.
  4. Henderson goes onto the rookie list - not the main/senior list or cat b list. We still have a cat b selection in which we can sign someone who fits the criteria at any time.
  5. https://www.afl.com.au/news/1269731 Here is a link to the article from Cal Twomey 👍🏼
  6. I wouldn’t be opposed to any of those 3 and in previous posts I have mentioned all 3 as options I would love to see considered or given a go. However the club seem to be persisting with Laurie as a midfielder, Bowey as a half back/small defender and Brown as a wing/half forward. (Which doesn’t make a lot of sense to me given our lack of options).
  7. Plenty of small forwards? Where? Other than Kozzy there isn’t a lot. Chandler doesn’t hit the scoreboard enough. Spargo is always injured and was never a big goal kicker. We drafted Langford to do the mid/forward role you’re talking about.
  8. Don’t even think the LTI exists anymore. The inactive list is the mechanism which rules out whoever you put on there for the whole season.
  9. If not us, someone else will get Culley. Very little doubt from anyone and most clubs that he’ll end up on an AFL list again one way or another. Ox talked him up this morning on SEN WA about how dominant he’s been at training this preseason taking it up to our ‘A grade’ mids.
  10. Windsor and Chandler will be fine for Round 1.
  11. Lucky we can still convince a player to sign on😂 Would love to see him against North👌
  12. Escalated quickly. Hopefully we see him suit up against North on Saturday.

  14. The cut off date for SSP is Friday afternoon (21st)
  15. It’s mystifying to me why Brown hasn’t been injected into the forward line as a pressure small forward considering all our options already on the wing/half forward.
  16. Turns out that hasn’t stopped Melbourne from asking Hendersons management about his situation over the weekend. One to watch.
  17. Both are signed to play with Casey for this season whatever happens. ( of course without discounting either getting picked up in the mid season draft )
  18. George has done some flashy things And I actually like what I’ve seen but in no way has he impressed enough consistently to be handed a contract purely because we lack a small forward. I think we absolutely need one but also don’t think that necessarily means Roy. Based on talent and merit throughout preseason, Culley gets the contract. *if Melbourne choose to use the pick*
  19. I’m sure Judd will get the reminder all 17 other clubs overlooked him until we took the shot at pick 18 in the 2021’ rookie draft. Much like Lawson Humphries at Geelong, Judd was in West Coasts backyard and they overlooked him. Even Nic Martin trained with West Coast and they said no thanks. There was enough conversations between him, his management and the club last year that I would still expect something to be done. There was a 2 year deal on the table as well as a 4 year deal (like JVR’s) to take him to free agency (end of 2029). Melbourne are always open to different options to keep players like him (interstate young guys) comfortable.
  20. A chance for Andy MW or Howes to take Judd’s spot for the time being. Plus Bowey of course who probably would’ve been in anyway. Our small forward stocks are limited and wouldn’t even call McAdam that anyway. Unfortunate but think there is room to cover. As for key position especially with the backs, Tmac will be an extra defender/forward when it comes to Petty/Lever/May also Think we have more options than given credit for.
  21. Still believe it’s a long term thing until he’s back. Club obviously being very conservative with no pressure on coming back to training/playing until fully healthy. Could reassess at the half way point of the year if it’s worth moving him to the inactive list. They’ll give him the chance to come back though, of course.
  22. Can’t see any way he’s not moved to the inactive list given the severity of an Achilles and his already horrible injury history. It’s just whether Melbourne choose to pick someone now or wait till mid season. Melbourne know they’ll only have once chance to pick Culley, if not now, another club will get him early mid season no doubt. In fact, Melbourne can’t actually believe no one has picked him up already considering how well he’s done and how unlucky most thought he was to not get a contract extension at the Eagles or picked up in one of the drafts.
  23. McAdam was a wildcard option. Had worked his tail off to put himself in the position of being fit and impacting. Rotten luck to get injured. But if the list spot opens up and they do pick Culley, from what he’s shown he would absolutely be in the mix to get a crack early. Hasn’t looked out of place competing with our big boys in the guts. His sheer size makes him versatile to impact at either end of the ground also.
  24. Think Henderson went over to train with the Eagles with a fair amount of knowledge he’d get the nod to replace Dom Sheed.
