  1. You do realize that Collingwood are rated worse than us on that list and are currently 6th on the ladder yes? Under 23s shouldn't be the ones responsible for our success, it's not 2009 again is it? And you can expect what you wish, but your subjective opinion is not inline with the club's from what I've heard.
  2. Didn't realize we fielded a team of under 23 year olds all year... But perhaps you missed the point that both things can be off the mark, particularly the one assigning a randomly chosen demographic and then written subjectively.
  3. Rated as 16th for under 23s by random AFL writers in an opinion piece. Rated number 1 list in the comp by Champion Data. Choose your own adventure...
  4. I posted it in at least two of your other threads on the same topic.
  5. Yeah, absolutely agree with that mate. Can't imagine how frustrating it would be for our players to see the co-captain, Goody's pet (according to player interviews) continually defy instructions by bombing it long every game with no consequence.
  6. How many times are you going to start a thread about/post the same thing? Couldn't this have gone in your 'Key forwards, let's go shopping' thread where you posted constantly about Brown? Or even your 'Should we trade our early pick' thread where you also posted about Brown? At least your 'Hinkley is coach of the year' and 'Trade Petracca for Patton' threads have died the death they deserved.
  7. Jones is rated as the best field kick in our team. Viney is rated as the worst kick inside 50 in the league. Staggering how differently the two are perceived on Demonland.
  8. Apparently has 'received interest' from the Dees: Status: Restricted free agent at the end of 2019. State of play: Ellis is facing a $500,000 sacrifice over the life of his next contract if he’s to remain at Richmond, the club that recruited him with Pick 15 in 2011. While the premiership defender has played 16 matches this season there are still question marks over his toughness. The restricted free agent has received interest from Essendon, Carlton, North Melbourne and Melbourne. According to the Herald Sun’s Jon Ralph, Ellis would receive no more than $400,000 per season if he remained at Punt Road. Likely scenario: The 25-year-old could foreseeably be forced out. There aren’t many free agents floating around this year, and therefore, Ellis is likely to receive a substantial offer from a rival club. 9. Yeah possibly. I would rather keep Gus if we can, I like him a lot, I'm not suggesting a trade because he's no good but because he has value and plays a role we seem to have lots of depth in. My thinking was more along the lines of trading Gus (inside mid) and our 2nd round pick for Langdon, Hill (outside mids) and a 3rd round pick. That way we also keep pick 2 (or whatever it ends up being) and we instantly change the dynamic of our midfield.
  10. Yep, and there's been a couple of articles during the year saying that too, maybe we already have other players lined up that will fill up some of that space?
  11. But that's kind of the point, we have so many in that position that he's not playing there. So why not consider trading him for someone who can actually play that position (outside mid) well?
  12. Given the length and timing of Jones' last contract I would think whatever he gets next year would be considerably less anyway. Plus, Lewis contract off the books, Jack Watts' partial payment off the books (thanks Mahoney), Garlett - whose contract situation would have been similar to Jones re: timing etc. Those factors would help a fair bit IMO. And not forgetting, we have to trade to get Hill, so likely either a player on good coin goes or a high pick (who would have got good coin eventually) goes. All works out.
  13. A very hit and miss facebook page has gone with the rumour that Gawn will miss 2 weeks with an ankle injury.
  14. Would rather take Stephen Hill if we're taking a gamble on some outside skill. Cost us the same as Bennell, with far less risk.
  15. How are people feeling about this now that we've been linked to both Hill and Langdon?
  16. Melbourne are weighing up whether they have the capacity to join St Kilda and several other clubs in the chase for Fremantle speedster Brad Hill. The Demons are keen on Hill – viewing him as the ideal type of player to complement their inside midfielders – but it is unclear whether they will have sufficient salary-cap room to make a serious bid for the contracted midfielder, whom the Dockers have maintained will not be traded. Demons on Hill trail, but will they go the distance?
  17. Lol. Not interested in having a semantics debate with some of the worst posters here, but saying 'I want to play for a few more years, but will consider what's best for the club' is pretty different from saying 'I want to play for 6 more years'. That's all from me on that though, it's getting a bit silly now.
  18. Not sure how well the weight program will go while he's eating soup the next few weeks...
  19. Sounds convincing guys.... I'll await your link before taking your words for it.
  20. Ok, so no source, no effort and more assumptions. For the record, here is Jones on 'On The Couch' in early June saying 'I want to play for a few more years, but will consider what's best for the club'. https://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2019-06-12/rd-12-on-the-couch-nathan-jones
  21. What radio station then? From what I remember, it was on 'On The Couch' around May/June. Happy for you to provide a link though, especially if you're going to roll with insults without backing up your statement.
  22. Don't disagree that we have work to do on our list, I'm just not concerned with unknown writers opinions on a part of our list that doesn't (or shouldn't) have a big impact on our overall success.
  23. I may need to go back and watch it again, but I'm 99% sure he did not say 'another 5-6 years'. Stop trying to over-dramatize things.
  24. I just don't really think a subjective, unquantifiable list compiled by unnamed 'staff writers' of a specific list demographic which isn't generally the part of the list that determines success is much of a worry. Collingwood are 17th on that list and currently sit 6th. The other end of the spectrum is Champion Data rated our current list as best in the competition. People will pick and choose which of those two outlooks they listen to.
  25. Hey I put a lot of hard work into my comment in the other thread! 'As per my previous email.....' Haha
