  1. Yep, so Gus' shocking kick ended up back in the hands of the man he was meant to be tagging who kicked a goal. You guys can take that as harsh if you wish, but I think it's a microcosm of our season: Horrible delivery forward and no defensive accountability. That's just how I saw it.
  2. Haha well that puts an end to that then!
  3. Can we not start this stuff again? Always find it incredibly unfair when Dees fans smash a great of the club for trying to do a job he openly said he wasn't qualified to do, because his dying best mate begged him to do it.
  4. Yes he has. I watch On The Couch regularly and he's very much criticized how they're coached and their style of play. Who do you think he's talking about when he says those things?
  5. Brayshaw and 3rd round pick to Freo for Hill and Langdon. Outside run ✅ 2nd round pick to Sydney for Zak Jones and their 3rd round pick. Run, HB to either replace Hibberd or free up Salem ✅ That 3rd round pick and ANB to Gold Coast for their 2nd round pick. Back into the draft ✅ Stephen Hill as an unrestricted free agent. Replace Lewis' list spot with a veteran runner ✅ Sam Day as a restricted free agent. Mature key forward depth ✅ Draft Rowell or Green with pick 2 (or 3 if PP happens). Gus replacement ✅ Draft Pickett with 2nd round pick. Small forward ✅ Yeah, I have too much free time to think about these things when we're not winning...
  6. Just because he appointed him (wasn't his first choice btw), doesn't mean he's got a free pass for life from criticism. Where exactly is the conflict of interest? He's a commentator now, not involved at the club at all.
  7. Lever took 9 marks and had a game high 12 intercepts. Few sloppy disposals sure, but I for one was rapt to see him flying for marks again and helping us rebound. Gus just managed 15 touches, including 8 handballs, and his man kicked the go ahead goal in the last quarter when he got caught not running back hard enough. Reckon 'excellent' is a pretty generous summation. We've seen Harmes play the tagging role effectively and still get plenty of the ball, I think we need to raise the bar for our former pick 3 if that was classed as 'excellent'.
  8. Yeah but the whole 'losing team' thing is symptomatic. Generally if the other team has the ball a lot more then you're going to be losing. Agree about the cohesion 100%. I would even use the word 'trust'. With an impacted preseason and massively inconsistent lineups (we've used more players than any other team) we were always going to struggle to innately understand what each other was going to do. Then it's all magnified by the 'chaos ball' approach we've had most of the year. Also agree our ball movement was better in patches, but not 100% sure I'd be praising Harmes and Brayshaw for that the most. Gus only had 15 touches, and 8 of them were handballs. Thought Salem, Jones and May did well with the ball usage, even ANB had a good patch for a quarter or so where he set up a few goals with good decisions. Hard to know what has been behind the defensive intent issues. Do you reckon the limited use of runners has impacted us as much as the 666 maybe? None of our leadership group are very 'directional', they're all more 'spiritual leader' types.
  9. Yeah look I'm not advocating for it as such, just posing the question.
  10. Yeah, pretty hard to argue with that mate, really well put.
  11. You could play 'what if' all day though, doesn't get you anywhere, and I believe it's more complicated than just forwards kicking straight, so we differ a little in our take on the season I guess.
  12. But is he wrong? That was the question. We've gone from prelim to second last, and the only people I've heard talk about us today in the media are 2 former Demons. To me, that seems a lot like we're irrelevant.
  13. OUT: Viney (concussion), Preuss, Lockhart IN: JKH, T.Smith, Baker or Dunkley Would be keen to see how we go for a full game without Viney in the middle tbh. Played some of our best footy without him last year and we got a roll on against West Coast when he came off. Could all be coincidence of course, and he was great in the finals last year, but now is the time to try these kind of things. I know he probably won't get picked, but I'm still putting JKH in my ins as that's what I would do. Has earned a game, and if we're not being legit about competition for selection then why even bother having a selection committee? Just let Goody to tell his favourites every week in their WhatsApp group.
  14. Agree with a lot of that mate, especially that bits about skill. I think if you look at the year holistically though, we lacked a fair bit of defensive pressure, intent and two way running early on, and as much as I love them, Oliver and Brayshaw were shown up for that a fair bit in that part of the season. Oliver has since lifted his defensive work rate, but I'm not convinced Gus has turned that corner yet. He was just ok playing as a pure tagger, but it was his man that left him behind to kick the goal that set WC off in the last quarter. Also, Rangie? Did I miss an in-joke or pop culture reference there?
  15. Is he wrong?
  16. 'Complicated' says the bloke that seemingly doesn't understand how list demographics and development work, or that all players who play some imaginary permanent role that defines their abilities aren't exactly the same. Come on mate, look deeper than the first page you find on google.
  17. Ok, so now we're comparing Dangerfield and Tyson are we? I'm out. Have a good one.
  18. Not really worth it's own thread, but Malthouse has put the feelers back out there. Would he be worth looking at for a Director Of Coaching type role? Feel like we need some more structure and support around Goodwin and Mick obviously has the experience, and now that Pert has been around a year he would be able to ascertain as to whether it would work in tandem with Goody.
  19. Just as I thought, straight to google hey mate? He's a bit like a Dangerfield type (not saying he'll be that good obviously) with a burst of speed from the pack, ability to chase down opponents and is a handy player around goals. But sure, that's exactly the same as Tyson....
  20. Sparrow isn't an "inside mid", and if you think he's similar to Tyson then you've either not seen Sparrow, Tyson or both.
  21. Thanks mate. Handy to know as far as trade calculations go.
  22. His uncle is my favourite footballer of all time, so gives him a big head start in my eyes. When you say 2nd round, where abouts is he being projected to go pick-wise?
  23. Nah matey, just reckon I've tried to explain the definition of legacy to you enough times, so now you're clearly just being one of those guys on an internet forum. I posted what I had heard, from a source I've explained, and also said I can understand if people don't choose to believe me. If you want to get your knickers in a twist about that it's up to you and doesn't bother me. I'm more interested in trying to be a practical poster here than having internet willy size contests. Have a good one. Edit - Oh and just for the sake of clarity, this thread is about Roos taking a role at Carlton, nowhere have I said his opinion has any bearings on the results for the Dees. That's something you've chosen to try to weasel into the conversation for some reason.
  24. Maybe read the link mate, I still don't think you've quite grasped what legacy means...
