  1. I mean, I love his effort and all, you can't not love the bloke, but I'm probably extra harsh on him because I see him as the prototype Goodwin player who goes hard but doesn't use it well and it hurts us because he plays in positions and roles where we really need skill, the skill we have running around in scratch matches currently.
  2. Isn't it 2020? Not sure what 17 and 18 have to do with anything. Just like I'm not sure what career averages have to do with 2020 either. Pickett has played 3 games, bit rich talking about 'career average' mate. And yes, I would absolutely drop Hunt this week. Sure ANB went missing a bit after quarter time (kicked a goal in the 2nd by the way) but his use going inside 50 in that first half was better than I've seen from any of our players this year. We could do with that right now don't you think? ANB and Kozzy should play very different roles IMO, so I see no reason why both can't be in the side.
  3. This is such an overplayed argument when talking about vandenBerg's value. Gets caught with the ball, his disposals don't contribute much, goes missing for big chunks, OH but he tackles really hard...
  4. This isn't the changes thread so I just stuck to the topic brought up. We all love vandenBerg's intensity, but he's not giving us what we need, which is skill forward of center. Second game back is irrelevant. Why does he get that let off but others don't? For the record, this week I would be brining out all of vB, Smith, Lockhart, Hunt and Melksham and replacing them with ANB, OMac, Jetta, Bennell and Weid/Brown.
  5. Agree mate. Melksham is usually one of my faves but he's played such selfish football this year for some reason. I'm not the biggest fan of them all, but bring in ANB, Bennell and either Weid or Brown for Melksham, Hunt and vandenBerg and not only do we have more skill forward of centre but we get back to a more 'traditional' setup that the players are more familiar with. We need to make it more simple for them.
  6. He's our best for average score involvements. Guess who second best is? ANB. The same ANB dropped after 2 goals and 5 score involvements against Carlton. And Goodwin bemoans our 'connection'. He's as bad as some of our supporters with his bias.
  7. Meanwhile, Melbourne on Sunday night took a group of families to their NSW hub - Jack Viney travelled with his partner Charlotte and nine-day-old baby Mila - while a host of fringe players stay at home. The struggling Dees have reportedly left Wagner brothers Josh and Corey back-up ruckman Braydon Preuss, among others, in Melbourne to continue training with coaches. AFL teams head into hubs IMO, staying behind would be: Hore, KK, Preuss, Nietschke, Petty, Baker, Bradtke, Wagners x2, Chandler, Jordon, Sparrow.
  8. IMO it's structural work and skill work we need, not moving the pieces around. You can see what will happen, move May forward, then the backline (which has started to gel) becomes a weakness and we move him back, then the forward line... yadda yadda... If we're 'experimenting' just do this: 1) Put another key forward in the team. 2) Instruct midfielders that they're not allowed to kick the ball within 10m of goal when looking inside 50. We have players getting to space inside 50, but our mids continue to think it's better to deliver deep to a contest than 35-40 out to an open player.
  9. The Champion Data numbers were astounding. The Dees won 10 centre bounce clearances that yielded 0.1. They also won 35 ball-up and boundary throw-in clearances that yielded 0.0. Fox Footy Round 5 Talking Points
  10. Imagine having a coach who talks every week about connection and execution but then continually ignores skillful players in favour of blokes that just like to bang around. Scratch that, we don't have to imagine it.
  11. It's not all Lever's fault. What idiot would pick a similar role player to go up with him when what we need is a one on one defender. Oh that's right, the idiot who coaches us. OMac in for Smith, get back to the mix that works then start to judge Lever once he's playing the role he's meant to.
  12. OUT: Hunt, Melksham, Smith, Lockhart, vandenBerg, Rivers, T.McDonald IN: Bennell, ANB, O.McDonald, Jetta, Dunkley, Jones, Weideman
  13. Disagree that he's currently lazy. Watch the last few games again and specifically watch him, he's busting his gut trying to put pressure on. His disposal and decision making though, geez, would be close to our worst so far this year.
  14. And whose job is it to do that mate? The coach that made no changes & no moves.
  15. Smith, Lockhart, Melksham, TMac, vandenBerg all players many of us though should have been dropped over the past 2 weeks. All of them horrible today, But what would we know hey?
  16. Frost out, Smith in. Why bother? Same footballers.
  17. It may get there, but it's not exactly looking like 'wet slog' conditions so far. Not a lot of rain on the radar yet either.

For mine, the only solution that sees coaches change how they control the game: Extra premiership point if the winning team scores over 100 points.
  19. That was very frank.
  20. We already aren't. Most of the media coverage I've seen has been about Richmond needing to find form again. We barely cling to relevance as it is and our listless performances thus far have buried us almost out of sight again.
  21. Last 3 games they've knocked us off by an average of 41 points. We've beaten them 3 times out of the last 10. Including once when Garlett kicked 4 and once when Watts kicked 3.
  22. “We came to the conclusion that having a fresh start and playing in front of friends and family was probably a bit more important at this stage of my career. Obviously I do want to play in finals and play in flags but at this stage it was more important for me to get back, be around my family and friends and to have a fresh start." Jesse Hogan says making a move to Fremantle had been on his mind throughout the 2018 season
  23. I've watched the game twice mate. I suggest you have another watch of the game and try to notice how many times open options and leads are ignored due to hesitation before a kick is launched to an outnumbered contest.

Pert was on SEN this afternoon and he talked about the possibility of some family members going into the hub.
