The Adam Saad Thread
I wasn't saying go for Daniher, I was saying Saad's offer from the Bombers may be connected to Daniher's contract offer as far as the salary cap goes. Parish & Fantasia aren't really the types I would consider a priority at the moment.

Gysberts.

I believe loges meant that with Daniher leaving; Essendon will be looking for a key forward. So Weideman + Pick traded for Saad.

Have heard conflicting things about our salary cap situation (from the same journalist too, ugh), but going by Lucifer's Hero list here, our out of contract players this year are (and guessing on what will happen - while unsure of list sizes for next year): Bedford - Likely keep Fritsch - Keep Hibberd - 50/50 Hannan - Keep Hore - Likely keep Hunt - 50/50 Jones - Retire Jordan - Keep OMac - 50/50 Nietschke - 50/50 Petty - Likely keep Smith - Keep J.Wagner - Gone Sparrow - Keep Spargo - Likely keep Viney - Keep I don't think any of the ones we're likely to keep will be in for big money. Saad's contract with the Bombers currently is only about 400k (if reported correctly) and he's clearly worth more than that. Potentially it all hinges on what Daniher decides?

Hear me out here... Brayshaw for Saad, Harmes back to the midfield. To me, that makes us a better team.

Sorry mate, I don't totally get what you mean.

Would be my second target behind a key forward, although there may be some free agent options there, but definitely keen.

TEAMS: Rd 04 vs Geelong
Fair mate. I guess I'm more saying that to me it seems inconsistent. Certain players (TMac, Gus especially) are giving unlimited chances. They're both players I rate, but both well below expectation for a very long time. Also think it's poor if he's "lost patience" in players. It should be purely based on form, not past performance or draft order or anything of the like. Both ANB and OMac were good in 2018, which coincidentally is pretty much the last time Gus and TMac were consistently good also.

Brad Miller - GWS Forward line & Assistant Coach. Get him to Melbourne?
Sounds perfect actually.

As far as similar roles go, ANB had a far superior game to both Jones and Melksham. Now, I prefer both Jones and Melksham as footballers, but if we're truly picking on form then I'm not sure ANB is the one to get dropped out of the three after that game. Brown and Weid have both kicked bags in scratch matches and intraclubs, TMac has barely fired a shot in both regular games and intraclubs. Jackson (whom I rate very very highly as a talent) had no impact in the Carlton game. Yet, TMac no chance to be dropped and Jackson named in the squad ahead of both Brown and Weid. Sure, there might be things behind the scenes, but form wise it's completely backwards. Brayshaw has plodded along for 18 months in absolutely no danger of being dropped. To me, just seems like Goodwin absolutely does favour certain names.

Not sure I agree totally mate. ANB was good against the Blues - Dropped. Hannan & vandenBerg - Rushed straight back in from injury. Brown and Weid - Not even getting a sniff. TMac and Gus - Indifferent form for a long time now but picked every week regardless. Sure, Nev and Jones have been dropped, but most of the other names are the same ones that get the same amount of either extremely limited or seemingly overextended chances.

For sure, not saying there isn't, but saying the majority of these extremely overt ones we see are from fake accounts (anecdotally of course). Either way, cutting down on fake accounts would absolutely cut down the total amount even if we don't 100% agree on the specifics.

Sure, agree with that, there's no such thing as 100% privacy on the internet, but you can control who sees your content (limiting it to people you know and trust) and prevent anyone, including those you trust if you wish, from commenting on your posts.

I don't know, as I said in my post, I'm not 100% sure what you mean with the copy and paste comment.

Not 100% sure what you mean mate. If you have your content set to private, only the people you allow to can see it. The hard part for professional sportspeople (and other public personalities) is that so much of their brand equity comes via their social presence these days. Would be really hard to balance that against these sort of comments sometimes I reckon. Only recently we saw one of our own players shut down all his socials due to the abuse he was copping from our own supporters.

All 3 platforms have the ability to set your account to private or control who sees your content.

Racist Comment Targetting Nev
This was on instagram I believe. I've always thought twitter was by far the worst, and probably still is, but at least we're seeing from them at a corporate level that they're making an effort finally to police/moderate their platform. Facebook (who also own instagram) are incredibly weak in this regard.

Racist Comment Targetting Nev
We disagree then mate. Yes we see very poor comments on socials by real accounts, but there is another level where we see outright racism, homophobia, sexism and more that people know is unacceptable so they use a fake account to post it. That level of abuse will come down to hardly anything with genuine authentication required for setting up accounts I very firmly believe. The casual racism level of abuse is a far more broad and complicated problem, but overt racism like this example is almost always from a fake account in all the examples I've seen.

The solution to the issue is to have a proper verification process for social media accounts. If these people had to use their real name we would hardly ever see these type of comments.

James Harmes is being wasted
"Continues to persist"? It's been 2 games. Reckon we should give it more of a chance before making a definitive call.

TEAMS: Rd 04 vs Geelong
Yep. Goody talked about it in the presser today. Managed. “Obviously selection’s tight, so we’re still working Harley back to his full fitness and his full match condition,” Goodwin said. “There’s clearly a lot of expectation on Harley to be in the team every week – that certainly won’t be the case. “He’s a player that we want to see as a long-term player and … we want to make sure he can sustain the full rigours of an AFL season. “He’s still working his way back to his full fitness and full form that he knows he’s capable of and we know he’s capable of, and he’s progressing well. “But clearly we’ve got to continue to limit the expectations of selection every week.”

Four players to come off that bench, my guess is Jones, Hibberd, Lockhart & ANB come out.
