  1. Can Darcy Wilson play football? Has some fantastic athletic attributes.
  2. I get the appeal. But we’d be cutting back a fair bit and would be the wrong type of player to trade out just as May is entering twilight.
  3. I've said this somewhere perhaps a few pages back but happy to repeat. We have 6,14,27,35. 25 - Grundy trade (TBC) 51 - JJ comp 52 - Harmes trade 1. 14+25 to Cats for Pick 8. They have one whole pick for the draft with a list that is aging chronically. 2. F1 (~1000 pts) + 2nd rounders (35,41,52 - 1180 pts) for GCS Pick 11 (1329). given them silly points, but are competing with Norf atm. At this point we could have 6,8,11,27 Additional Considerations/Options 3. Chase Nick Haynes and take full salary (1.2-1.5M) for their Pick 7. Or take a portion of it for Pick 16 or as much as GWS is willing for their Pick 42. 4. Package up any two of 6,8,11 to move higher into the draft. Given the current run of play, I think its pretty set and nobody would be willing to do anything their. 5. Split Pick 27 if required when matching any bids for Brown for a F2 and 3rd rounder (and split again until Brown is matched)
  4. If Sydney want us to cover some of his salary, they should be prepared to handover pick 11. If not, Pick 24 thanks. Otherwise we hold onto him.
  5. If he is on the outer with CFC and their culture, then no. He is overrated anyway and played up by the media given the association with Collingwood. He's probably on par with Chandler.
  6. Whether they like it or not, are successful or not, Norf will help build the Tasmania team. They will have too much talent to keep on their books and wont have salary cap concessions like GWS and GCS were afforded with the living-away-from-home allowance. They have a short window to make it work before they have to start renewing a crop of players as soon as 3-4 years time at which point there will be a garage sale. That is if they can get out of the bottom 4 - stay there for another 1-2 years, players will start to leave the club. With their defence essentially non-existent, 2024 is going to be similar to this year, so i expect more pain. They will win more games against the bottom 4-6 teams, but cant see them really challenging for top 8 until at least 2026.
  7. Harmes will be kidding himself if he thinks he'll get in the 22 of the Doggies, he is even less of a chance their.
  8. Though Murphy passed a concussion test, he made the call to sub himself out of the game for Patrick Lipinski due to reporting blurred vision, telling The Herald Sun he “couldn’t really see” coach Craig McRae at the quarter-time huddle. That doesn't bode well for the AFL. That a player has to sub himself off because the concussion protocols determined that he was fit to continue but he was clearly symptomatic. The irony isnt lost on me either that Collingwood may also have to retire a player due to concussion. I could just see the narrative if both players had to retire, that "its an unfortunate part of the game"...yeah getting illegally cleaned up off the ball.
  9. That is a great way of putting it. Grundy will be forced to play ball otherwise god forbid we’ll be stuck with him and he’ll be stuck with us.
  10. Yeah [censored] situation. 2019 it was the GCS who took Anderson from us. This year looking like Norf will take McKercher. Sanders maybe our next best choice. I hope North take him instead.
  11. Tom Hawkins only because he can teach some forward craft. Maybe offer him a 1 year contract with 2 years coaching?
  12. Will Norf try to go 14,20 for 10? Or 14, Future comp pick (20)? I wouldn't trade our Pick 13 and and our F1 if it became a bidding war because that is overs. I would however trade the points equivalent of Pick 13 ~ (26,34). Ultimately i think we have them covered, unless they get silly, which they can afford to with all the picks gifted to them.
  13. 1 year left. Freo should drive a hard bargain. Will definitely take Pick 18 and some change to get it done.
  14. That is a weird choice. They are overstocked with the small/medium forward. He is essentially the same player as Elliot. Can you play Hill, Elliot, Schultz, McCreary, McStay, Mihochek, Ginnivan and their 2nd ruck in the forward line. Ginnivan probably makes way. Johnson stuck in the VFL and still you have an extra.
  15. If our F1 is on the table then let’s chase picks 6 and 7. F1 , 25 and get Pick 10. GCS. 13 and 23 (Grundy) and 39 (JJ) to Cats for Pick 7. Try to work out something with GWS for Haynes and Pick 6 for some of their salary cap. Maybe offer them Pick 10 plus they cover half of Haynes wage. Take 5,6,7 to the draft. Make sure there are some leftovers or picks that come back to pick up Brown.
  16. Nick Haynes (GWS) is on a reported 1.2m-1.5m in his final year. GWS have gone on record saying they would cover some of his cap. Would you take him on a 2 year deal (2nd year would be peanuts circa 300-400K) if GWS paid 500K + Pick 15? Or something along those lines. Would you take his full salary if GWS offered Pick 6? If we have the cap space this year due to Grundy leaving and its not going to be spent why wouldn't you do it? it would add some back line depth as well. Then you could goto GCS and say Pick 13,15,39 (2800 pts) for Pick 4.
  17. Me too i liked it. For those that say we gave the Pies a target on our backs, i would respond saying that they have a much bigger target on theirs: 1. Being the premiership team, they will become the hunted 2. Maynardgate If we let them take hold of the narrative and make it about May's comments rather than the above, then we "fire-in-the-belly" to add to the list.
  18. Yep i got that. But Sydney would look to get it all done without that pick even coming into the equation. They'd be stupid if they put that up. The only way i could see Pick 11 being traded is if they could split the pick and move into 2024 draft i.e. WCE 2nd round pick(20) and their F1. But doubt there would be many suckers willing to do that trade for pick 11, so its unlikely.
  19. If that’s what they are offering they are just plain stupid. Pick 4 is not worth that much at all. My guess is it’s 10 and F1 and we can definitely beat that with our collection of 2 and 3rd round picks and a F1.
  20. He was intoxicated so was a bit clumsy in the way he said things. Media as usual is on full assault mode as they look to sensationalize every waking minute of the offseason. My guess is this will all blow over by the time we play them in about 8 months. If the Pies want to hold onto it, good on them, but it will be wasted energy.
  21. There is no way we get pick 11 for Grundy. I think 31 goes to Pies and they’ll offer us 23.
  22. I doubt it - he was half drunk at a BnF. It’ll be forgotten in 8 months time when we play them. The Brayshaw hit will be what is front of mind for every Melbourne player.
  23. Nobody has mentioned Brodies name once. Not even a thank you. I think it’s clear who is in the wrong here.
