  1. Goodwindees = Tom Morris.🤣 (no offence)
  2. Sounds like JUH is about to be signed on a 4-5 year deal too. Would be interesting to see if English now sticks around. He would have to take significant unders for the Dogs to remain in the salary cap. It is also probably a sign that they are not going to try solve their defensive KP woes anytime soon.
  3. With both Tim English and JUH coming out of contract next year and the huge cap squeeze they will undoubtedly had. Which one do you chase? I dont think either qualify for FA, so it will be a Jackson scenario. Who do the Doggies chose as i think they will need to make a choice. English is a versatile ruck/forward, who will probably take over the ruck domination when Gawn retires. I cant see many challenging for the AA ruck position for the next 3-4 years. JUH on the other hand has really been underwhelming. Perhaps he isn't suited to playing in the same forward line as Naughton ? Or he was just overrated. I think he is the better target to chase as the Doggies do have a excess of KPF stocks. So it'll be JUH, Ben King, Cadman all potentially uncontracted after 2024. We should be lining up to land one of these prospects.
  4. Collingwoods B&F was live on Foxtel for comparison.
  5. I heard yesterday that we weren't even talking with Naughton's management. So not sure where that rumor started. I believe the interested clubs that ultimately led to his extension were Collingwood, Geelong, West Coast and Sydney. Sydney reportedly put in an offer of $11M-$12M for 10 years for his services. That is crazy.

I’m nor closed to it. Worth a late 2nd rounder at best. I think when fit he’ll be a better option than Langdon.
  7. Naughton signs an 8 year deal with Doggies We can strike him from the list
  8. I was more taken aback from the last sentence. Wouldn't Gawn be concerned at all?
  9. Oliver isnt DeGoey. I think DeGoey is more like Trac. The Pies don't really have a Clayton type player.
  10. We are over invested in insiders. I think we can all agree to this and the need for outside class. If you look at potential trade options excluding Clarry it’s really only Trac as the alternative that can attract the draft capital. And if the alleged behavioural issues are true to the extent they are having an impact on culture, then it’s possible that he has punched his own ticket.
  11. If the wraps on Reid are anything to go by, then he could end up like Oliver on the inside and N Daicos on the outside who can take contested marks like Curnow, intercepts like Lever, spoils like Harris and rebounds like Coleman… .. or he could just end up like Rowell.
  12. If as reported we are not trading anybody and potentially have room in our cap to spare, why wouldn’t you take Nick Haynes from GWS who has reportedly 1 year on his contract in exchange for GWS first pick (#6)? Im not sure if GWS have cap issues but surely it’d be worth it if we have cap to spare for the year and it would be unspent otherwise.
  13. Assuming you could get him why wouldnt you play McKay in the ground and have JVR and Petty as the deep forward. He’d provide a good target on the wing and is an ok field kick. Can he improve F50 connection? Who knows. I can’t see it being anything but picks 5 and 13 though, which I wouldn’t do. If it was 15 (or 10 or 11) and F1st then maybe
  14. Mac Andrew may have a decent career but for now I prefer JVR. #wedodgedabullet
  15. Yep the MRO and umpiring for me were the worst aspects of this season. The fixturing is also flawed and the draft system needs some kind of overhaul, particularly in the area of Academy and F/S prospects
  16. If that is the case, then surely this means we chase Pick 4 hard!
  17. Doesn't this usually mean he is going and the clubs just need to reach an agreement. This could just as easily be read as the player manager playing hardball on their clients salary demands. It is and continues to be a longshot but i wouldnt read much into these types of statements. Players managers will only feel obligated to comment if something is in the works. Otherwise why bother?
  18. Yeah he was a great pick, but it doesn't compare to how much some teams have been able to benefit from the 'first access / matching' nature of F/S and academy.
  19. The bottom line.....is the bottom line. AFL have made great progress on paying off debts incurred during COVID. So on that alone you have to hand it to them. Everything else will be in the eye of the beholder. As Melbourne supporters we were on the wrong side of a key moments, which could have gone the other way. Collingwood just happened to be on the other side... and sometimes that is the difference.
  20. I don't think its a player per se. But we do need a harder edge about us. I think its there, deep within the group, it just needs to be let out every so often.
  21. Carton and Lions benefit from F/S again. I’m sure there is a lost Daicos brother coming through the ranks too. Seriously when are we going to get a top 5 F/S. So many top 8 teams have benefited of 2-3 top 10 picks in recent times. You just know when we get our turn they’ll be some sort of rule change.
  22. They like most recent GF teams have had relatively good luck with injury to key players. When Daicos went late in season, it was no surprise they started loosing. Lets see how they back it up next year with a limited pre-season and slogging it out for a whole year with an aging list. I fully expect them to compete but they'll come back to the pack - not that they were miles in front anyway. They will get even more attention next year with every team coming up with and/or refining the blueprint to beat them. They will get a difficult draw. There will be no easy games for them next year (bar West Coast).
  23. There is no chance in hell that narrative will be allowed to live even in one media cycle.
  24. That second one was milked by Sidebottom.
