NON-MFC: Opening Round
I love the movement and presentation of olayera from both sides. We look really stagnant in front of the ball apart from a few passages.

Werenโt we into Acres at one point? Solid winger can take a great mark.

McKay was picked after Weid as well.

NON-MFC: Opening Round
Curnow is the MVP. He is just outrageous 1 on 1 and to think we took Weid ahead of this guy.

Targeting Max
Kicking skill are largely driven by technique. And much like a golf swing If you don't have the technique nailed by 12 years old, i'm sorry you are in struggle town for the rest of your life. So i dont have much faith for fixing kicking skills in the off season. You fix kicking by 1) recruitment and 2) trades. Having kicking skills, much like character, athleticism & leadership should be etched into JT's brain now when it comes to scouting young talent. Then there is the evolution of the game-plan.. but ill leave that for the post season thread in 24 weeks time.

Targeting Max
There is a lack of mongrel in Gawn. I dont think he is soft, but he isn't hard at like most. The Sydney team looked like a pack of wolves in their attack all over the ground. They were clearly fired up for the occasion. There were a handful of incidents with Gawn that just makes me shirk - its been there for years and nobody seems bothered other than a select few on here (me included). Other than Viney, and Bowey, nobody else seemed to be as courageous. Perhaps the conditions - we did seem to fall off a cliff in Q4. Still in cold light of day we left a lot on the table and given the spotlight on the team coming into the season, didn't do much to put the doubters (including me) at bay. Indeed why.

POSTGAME: Opening Round vs Sydney
1. Max seems to roll over in big games more than rises to the occasion. I don't know if anyone else sees it but his demeanour sometimes is just a bit whiney and soft. I wish he would just get on with it. 2. Our stoppage setup is outdated. We have 2 players that roll of the stoppage and sit in the backline. Why don't we just match up the numbers in the contest or better yet, move an extra player forward of the stoppage and force the opponent to setup defensively. 3. Smart coaches put a player on Lever by sacrificing their own game. its a tried and true method to take him out of the game. Lever has to be smarter or the coaches need to have a plan to counteract this tactic. 4. Our forwards appear to lack brute physical strength and yet our game style is to kick to the packs. The ball comes back out with such ease - too many tackles were broken as the Swans exited off HB.
