  1. Spot on SONS ? I liked Liam Jurrah but to suggest that he is in the best 20 interstate recruits since 1970 is a little over the top & lets face it probably disrespectfull to the players who have had better sustained careers at the MFC......I would have these 3 ahead of Liam : Darren Bennett: 78 games & 215 goals (28) Anthony Ingerson: 158 games & 40 goals (25) Brad Miller: 157 games & 120 goals (27) Only my opinion......
  2. I don't reckon.....Only played 36 games Longevity & loyalty have some sort of impact on these decisions I would have thought......& not enough games for me.
  3. Another hard one but going for James McDonald..... Both great leaders & their loyalty is significant, however, JM a much smarter team orientated footballer who used the ball better across his career & this was evident with his All Aust selection.
  4. agree Darkhorse72.....Not fair for anyone really to compete against Jimmy. Hard to stake a claim for any other player from the last 35 years to challenge the great man.
  5. 2 completely different players & this is where the voting is difficult as they are not like for like......Love them both but purely because Febey has played 80 more games & is the 5th highest games played at the dees, he gets my vote. SF, in my opinion, was more durable than Davey & could play in a number of different rolls eg: fullback, HB, on ball & could go forward & kick a goal.
  6. It was just one of those days.....our boys were young & inexperienced. Kicked with the wind for 3 quarters, missed crucial goals, injuries to key players & we were still in front went the siren went. Never seen so many grown people cry.
  7. Fair enough old boy but I liked him & the way he went about it......82 games & 50 goals....not bad & during a time when it was difficult to get a game for the dees during our resurgence....& I reckon unless your put in that same situation, then none of us know really how hard it would be...... Gees you must have been good in your day.....?
  8. Good one.....lets tear threads off another player! Tough shot, tough circumstances & I wonder how you would go put in the same position......any suggestions that it was an easy shot shows your lack of knowledge & ignorance. He was a great player for the Dees who could read the play exceptionally well whilst bringing others into the game.
  9. Both worthy of HOF & with 2 Bluey's, how can you split them...... AJ for me.....Great leader, skillful & could/has won games of his own boot.....very influential. Should be in MFC's top 5 of all time IMO.
  10. Tingay for me...... From all reports the hardest working player on & off the field during his time.
  11. Number 2 'Tonight was unacceptable & probably a reflection of where we've been for the year'......'but we are going to work really hard at getting ourselves out of it' 'We've got a lot of work to do, but I've got full confidence in the players & the club'.......'We are in a poor position right now' 'We need to take responsibility as coaches, as players, as a whole club & how we build our program & make it better'.....'But what I am going to say is that we have the people here in terms of the players'
  12. 1. Jimmy by a country mile. His courage, endurance & longevity in the game was almost unmatched & changed the landscape for ruckmen in the late 80's. Not to mention the impact he had on many many games. One of the best football stories. 2. Neita.....Leadership, brut strength & his loyalty to the red & blue was amazing. His ability to grab a game by the scruff of the neck & change the outcome was a little like the Ox at his best. 3. Brett Lovett. Unheralded & undervalued by many. Tough player in a tough period that continued to get the job done. Check his numbers.....235 games MFC, Hall of Fame & state player. 4. Alan Johnson Mr Reliable & one of the best kicks in the game. Went from being a quality wingman to an attacking back pocket. Won the 83 & 89 Bluey Truscott, state player with WA Y MFC Hall of Fame 5. S Febey Amazing durability & attacking HB. 5th highest games record holder for the Demons. 15 years at the Demons & 258 games......should be Hall of Fame.
  13. Brett Lovett is easily in the top 10 in my opinion & whilst I liked watching G Lovett, Brett was a much more reliable & durable player. He also played in a much more demanding position (HB) on high mobile half forwards. Stynes easily number 1.
  14. Couple of others: Danny Hughes - Baby Hughie Russell Richards - Rhino Alan Johnson - Yumpin Jamie Duursma - Wheels Warren Dean - Wowza Dean Chiron - Dogga Tony Campbell - TC
  15. B- Jetta May Hore HB- Hunt Lever Salem C- Langdon Brayshaw Tomlinson HF- Petracca TMac Fritta F- Melksham Weideman Pickett R- Gawn Oliver Viney I- Hibberd, Lockhart, Bedford, ANB E- Sparrow, OMac, Jones, Spargo Need to inject some pace in the backline......the delisting of Frosty was just stupid.
  16. In my opinion one of the reasons JV played so well is the fact that 'the shackles are off' & he's not burdened with the captaincy role. Let a more mature person in Max take care of the captaincy duties & let Jack go about playing footy......when that happens.
  17. Max - Looked very underdone Spargo - Goodwins love child Viney - Led by example Jetta - Looked very slow Harmes - Is a Midfielder Pickett - Fast & Exciting Bedford - Shows Some Promise Tomlinson - Slow, Slow & Slow Langdon - Good but Wasteful Goodwin - Hasn't Learnt Anything
  18. Not the players fault...... Very poorly selected & coached side.
  19. I hope Gus has a great year as he's one of my favorites. He seem to slip at the start of last year when he was pushed out to the wing & couldn't get his normal inside mid roll.....then again all our midfielders struggled last year especially with the pressure of the new 666 rule, so Gus certainly wasn't on his own. His kicking is sloppy & often just blazes away, so I'd like to see him improve in this area & get back to his 2018 form.
  20. coaches pets Pickett.....& he's got a few!
  21. I think Levers leadership qualities have been we documented, however, I agree with 'Lord Travis' that he has lots of work to do yet before he becomes one of our leaders.
  22. I guess his option was to stay at Melbourne & struggle to get a regular game or go to another club where he has become probably the first picked in the backline along with Maynard. He seems to be rated very highly by Buckley. His career was seemingly at the crossroads in 2016 & has gone on to play 83 games in 4 seasons including 6 finals. My last laugh comment was reflective of Collingwoods success as a team over the last few years compared to us & not specifically related to Howe's individual awards. For what its worth the Dees have only won 34% of their games in the last decade whereas Collingwood (as much as I hate them) have won 62%. I see that this is a good more for Howe.
  23. Plenty of players want to leave clubs......Papley, Daniher more recently. Their clubs chose to not allow them to leave. Obviously MFC didnt rate Howe & that's ok I guess but he has had the last laugh.
