  1. Don’t forget natural growth and experience. With players, 100 games is often cited as the number it takes before we start to see their best. Maybe the same is true of coaches.
  2. Yes. Put me down for a drumstick.
  3. You may find that more difficult than you think. I believe you must first achieve a certain number of posts before changing your name. I suggest you appeal to the Administrators if you are initially turned down. Cheers
  4. I’m glad we’re not talking about a three-peat. Because that would be getting ahead of ourselves.
  5. from Fox Sports: “Welcome back, James Harmes! The midfielder was best on ground, according to the Official AFL Player Ratings, recording 31 disposals, seven tackles and a huge 21 contested possessions. He wasn’t alone starring - Clayton Oliver (35 disposals, 10 clearances) was busy, Christian Petracca (28 disposals and a goal) was damaging, and while the duo of Tom McDonald (four goals) and Ben Brown (three) wasn’t exactly what everyone expected coming into the season, but it worked wonders.” Not that I think Harmes was BOG, but it’s hard to understand how others could have thought that he should be dropped. Or will they just discredit Fox to support their own poor view of reality?
  6. Yes he did. He got the ball 31 times. Sparrow’s season average disposals... 7.4. Sparrow is rated below average in almost every key stat. Refer AFL player ratings for this year. I’m not writing him off. He will improve but Harmes is way ahead of him at this stage.
  7. i wasn’t as impressed with Jordon as others. Turned the ball over too often and a couple resulted in goals. 47% disposal efficiency. Needs to tidy up. Brayshaw 57% DE. 6. Oliver 5. TMac 4. May 3. Langdon 2. Harmes 1. Salem A number of our players were well off the pace today. Pickett, Lever, Gawn, Brayshaw, ANB, Jackson, Petty, Fritsch, Melksham, and Rivers all played below expectations. Yet we still won! Can’t wait for everyone to have a big day out together — preferably in the last game of the year.
  8. Heart in mouth every time Petty is near the ball.
  9. We have to remember the MC has a plan that we’re not involved in. They also have the benefit of watching training performances. Further, all players are given aspects of their game to work on and maybe some aren’t making sufficient progress in those things.
  10. I think you mean drivel. ?
  11. Sorry for the ignorance. I think I’ve figured out that Purple is Damian Barrett. But why is he called Purple?
  12. And contributing to it, even more so. ?
  13. Caro is clearly a Richmond supporter. Whateley is Geelong. Besides the obvious support of former players, does anyone know who the real journalists follow?

Looking at that table, and if my counting is correct, it seems by some strange coincidence the two leading the sacked coaches club are now top two on the ladder. Who’d have thought?
  15. How do I say this nicely? Talent aside, I’d be concerned whether De Goey has the right temperament for us.
  16. Congratulations, Supermercado. (Don’t think I’ve ever seen a book cover without the author’s name before.)
  17. Thanks, Binman. Got it!
  18. Thanks again, Andy. Another winner. @binmanmentioned AFL provision. Could someone point me to that, please?
  19. This is a very strange way to make a prediction, Monsieur Tox. I’m not sure why every factor you mentioned is weighted the same. Ie, 1. And as for the Swans love beating us on the MCG as a factor, I could easily counter with the Demons love beating the Swans on the MCG. And add, the Demons are desperate to stay on top of the ladder. Now you may be right, but this is a strange way to figure it.
  20. Spot on. And it’s not just Petracca. Have you noticed how many players - not just Demons - are playing on to the right side of the mark (right footers) when shooting for goal and then missing? They’d be better just going back and using their regular goal-kicking routine.
  21. It's stipulated in Melks contract that he's only to receive pats on the head, and not taps on the shoulder from Goody I am neither pro or anti Melksham, but I am anti prejudice and injustice. My first impression was that he was quite good today so I watched the game again. It’s really interesting doing that after reading what people think of players’ performances. For those with the knives out for Melksham, I suggest you take a second look and see how many times he delivered the ball beautifully in the forward line, presenting opportunities for Brown, ANB, Gawn, Kozzy. Not every one of them was gobbled up, but that said more about the receivers than Melksham. For example, Max tried to mark on his chest instead of with outstretched hands. Melksham was directly involved (twice) in one of Kozzy’s goals that went coast to coast. He missed a tackle or two, kicked out on the full and was caught with the ball. But the same could be said of Kozzy, Jones and Brayshaw. But as they say, haters gonna hate.
  22. Fine. I knew my post would draw a response and I am happy not to agree on everything. But while we’re at it, there is a lot of bias on this forum that is not backed up by facts. People don’t like Melksham and actively look for things he does wrong or doesn’t do at all. So, some facts from today’s game: Spargo 10 disposals, 2 tackles and 7 pressure acts. Jones 14 disposals, 2 tackles, 11 pressure acts. Melksham 17 disposals, 3 tackles and 18 pressure acts.
  23. 6 Fritch 5 Pickett 4 Oliver 3 Jackson 2 Langdon 1 Salem
  24. Hey Chook, you’ve got all three 2019 draft picks in there. That’s great!
  25. There is a lot of talk about Melksham. Separately there is a lot of talk about playing one’s role... Everyone is in the team to play their role. Melksham’s role is delivery to a player who can kick a goal or kick goals himself. Yes, it would be better if he tackled more ferociously. But that is not his primary role. Drop him for not finding a target or kicking goals? Sure, that makes sense. But dropping Melksham for not tackling well or often enough would be like dropping Frisch for not taking intercept marks.
