  1. The Smithy lovers are saying he can play tall or small. That is just their opinion to justify him staying in the team ie his versitility. BUT NO ONE has offered any proof by example of the SMALL player he has beaten since returning last year . IMO he was an embarrassment vs Charlie Cameron in the QUAL Final and that is the best sample that is recent to take notice of. Compare that with Hibbo's two Finals games on Geelongs small forwards and the Dogs in the GF. No comparison as I think it's Hibbo that can also play tall/ mids of heavy weight due to his body positioning spoiling deceptive pace. We all know that Hibbo is probably in his final year so it's wise to develop other options for our defence. Hunty played well vs Dogs but is not a one on one expert really. Lets see if either Smith or Hunt can mind the smaller quick forwards and put pressure on them. To be fair we also have Riv Salo and Bowser who are good half backs who are adept at defence and attack in their games. Interesting position as Tommo and Petty are much better vs the talls along with May and Lever (most times ). Remember it's the pressure over all that we put on forwards via our defence mids or even forwards that breaks down our opponents mostly to allow our gdd as me to flourish and us to score.
  2. We don't count practice matches or JLT in AFL records.
  3. We won 11 in a row counting the last 2 games vs GWS and Bombers in 2020. Its now 10 counting 7 last year and 3 this season.
  4. Much more than a couple of good games in 2021 He kicked 2 and 3 goals multiple times. Tmac lost his form a bit and yes injury upset his form before Finals where he was the team man and hard worker for the Forward line. Has started slowly and may have to make way for Weid who has clearly hit form if BBB and Lever return. Interesting selection issues ahead for Simon and Co.
  5. Very much appreciated training report PF. List is in PRETTY good shape as our premiership defenders really start to return from their injuries and malfunctions. What a mighty job has everyone in defence done in difficult times this season so far. And our total average has only risen from about 64 points per game in 2021 to 70 points average this season with 5/6 unable to play. Team going at trotting pace but all getting some good times in the matches. Selection interesting this week.
  6. Rick is his Nick name Jontee. Up with the program.
  7. Doubt it there were more Dees than Bom bers on Friday on the zmembers stand side of ground and at least halved or MFC 55/45 in lower Warne Stand. But I agree it was a disappointing crowd total driven first by the Bombers probably not buying tickets after last week's loss to Lions I thought minimum 30,000 Dees were there but we don't ( or didn't make perhaps as much noise as we could/ should) MCC side of ground should be full with members at least 3:4 full each home game with all the groups on Level2. Msny more Dees fans are in Outer because of GA ticketing also!!
  8. Sorry meant Tmac not Weid in post above.
  9. Weid playing forward and Back is a long way to him playing 5 mins warm up at the start of a game. That old chestnut has been laid to rest in 2018 and never to be repeated. I am more of a winger than Tommy and Angus has to stamp his "Wingers Club" ticket and that won't happen thank goodness. Jordon did quite well when winging it on Friday night. Flexibility yes but mr T everywhere no thanks.
  10. Weed won't be dropped Tmac Will if Rick Lever is fit.
  11. Some have earned immediate spots others have had to work and on both cases it's all made proper sense. JVR does not need a distraction to his development at this stage. Let him be at Casey unless Covid rears it's ugly head.
  12. That's the first I have heard that. Who is your source.? I am very happy with JVR and don't believe he is in line for selection vs Port on Thursday night. What other tips etc have "Storm and Wiz" given us of any reliability. Sorry sounds about as credible as Mrs Havershams cats having a mid morning milk sip meeting. We don't need to do a "Jack Watts debut any time soon" so get your gear ready BBB and kicking boots on. T Mac medi sub ?
  13. Clarry Helped majorly win us the game and Gus stood stoutly and strong to save us any embarrassment.
  14. 1. Bannon ( 3 goals in AFLW relates to about 6/7 in AFL) Her speed is breathtaking. 2. Paxman ( Absolute best game of year and controlled that wing all day The D/L er who wanted to retire Pacy about R3 should voluntarily retire from Demonland !) 3. L. Pearce ( very lucky they missed the goal from near the square after her brain fade ruck jump all over her opponent) but fantastic game around the ground and goal as well. 4. Rest plenty of even choices but some forwards need to move around more and provide targets 5. Wonder if Gillard is in best 20 would it give us another tall to have some flexility down back or even up forward or are our mediums diverse enough to present problems to the Crows who like the Lions have more put footy skills but we excel in providing extra pressure to wear down our opponents 6. No need for a nervous start like last years Prelim use it as an advantage we had more shots and overwhelmed up forward so kicked badly. We need to make the most of our forward moves. Daisy Kate and Tayla say Hi!
  15. The key word was ANOTHER but it can be read either way!
  16. Christian Salem is starting to threaten the above 2 players as an elite defender on half back. Leave a key position player out of comparison as a half backs comparison snd Lovey was a gem. How are we going to judge Rick ( Jake Lever) as KP half back or interceptor ? As he will be in the mix like Salo in 2/3 years time especially if we win another flag or two.
  17. Chandler 97 dream points 22 possessions?
  18. Half forwards in our Seniors need to be better on the ground crumbing from the talls rather than in the air. Ten possessions from Spargs is 2:/3 goals to us either to him or more importantly as score involvements. Can't see Chandler or Bedford ( although I liked his effort in Round1) as better at this stage after nearly 30 games in a row from Charlie. Too Many D/Lers regard only one or two good games in VFL as enough to change players eho have proven recorded over a season or more. Pressure acts are the other requirement and both Kade and Beddy are not bad. But Charlie is elite and Kossie best in AFL for pressure. I don't think the conversation should come up until both hit the scoreboard and pressure tests consistently. Maybe a med sub at first also.
  19. Boy Sams got a busy game coming up! He is there to kick goals and provide very limited ruck role which I think suits home getting him warmed ip and involved. Hats off to Sammy last night he was great and that's the Sam we hoped for !
  20. Yes agreed to a point but I thought our team mantra went a bit too far last night with overuse of a fourth and fifth handball!! Very half full Binman and yes there were some great pluses Weide good Gus another great game 3/4 on trot now inc. GF Harmes on the scorebieard Vineys all round game and speed Bowey continuing stellar firm and Maxy marking again.
  21. I would rather Trac's 40 disposals than 20!! He does so much damage. Thought enough of their on ballers got enough of the ball around the centre bounces!! The major question was what was Trac hiding under his knee bandage? That's why he wasn't the usual match winner. But what a goal. Was in front if me when he let his kick go and never looked like missing True class. Great to see Wiede play his second best but most important game. We probs Lt wouldn't have won without his four goals although we butchered about 8/10 set shots early. Harmsey good and great our wingers Ed and Gus. This Wingers Club is gaining points week after week now!
  22. May ? ???? More like Weidemann One scores four (4) goals guest yome in his career and other has (4) Gour goals against for the first time in ages. Glad your not on the selection panel Chook.
  23. If Injury cover then form cover is just as important. 2/3 goals is fine if Mitch comes in.
