On the face of it we appear to be the best placed to help GC get what they want and vice versa. GC might want to be careful what they wish for. They could miss out on The Brand © and end up unsettling their own key player in process.

As regards to the idea of this being a compromised draft, surely the northern academy picks are irrelevant because we're not getting them anyway. It's really the compensation picks and the possibility of another club swooping in to nab a talented kid we've had our eye on that's the problem. I've never actually understood why the AFL have to compromise the draft by giving the club that's losing a player a pick anyway. Can't it just be left for the two clubs to sort out themselves? If team A wants a player from team B then they have to give up something back that's comparable. If they don't then they aren't getting them. It shouldn't end up with one team jumping the queue in the draft.
