As for the grub on this side of town we definitely are spoiled for choice. Just locally there's a polish deli around the corner and there used to be a persian cafe nearby. My pick though would be Dumbo in Wefo (West Footscray). Especially at this time of year sitting outside in the sun sipping on a mont blanc.
