  1. FYI I emailed membership and they told me we had no say in the decision to move the game to NT (before it came back to QLD) which implies we had no hand/leverage which could imply we had no ability to cut a deal on the NT payment
  2. Why is this a problem? 3hrs to NT, then , what, 2 to Perth and 5 home?
  3. Looks like Clarkson might be available to draft in 2023. (Takes Black Hat off)
  4. There's being positive and then there's gaslighting How about being honest. "We're out of form. All is not lost, we can fix this stuff and we're onto it." See, I didn't even mention learnings.
  5. Not to stray off topic, I just wanted to pick this up - they apparently crossed the border illegally. Evidently there has not been any fine for that action just the mask breach. This article says 2/3 tested positive eventually https://www.7news.com.au/lifestyle/health-wellbeing/exclusive-the-sydney-removalists-who-brought-covid-19-back-into-victoria-c-3466050 The ABC article says they were negative when caught near Mildura but had no such permit. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-07-21/sydney-removalists-caught-in-mildura/100310504 Anyway back to the topic at hand.
  6. That is the guy who, despite being advised being a close contact flew SYD-BNK, was picked up by the QLD flight attendant, and I am speculating here, might have been responsible for the detection of virus in wastewater in Byron (the dates match and there are no other cases here), then crossed the border seeding QLD outbreak and then lied to contact tracers about his movements. Shocking.
  7. Article on Age says Metricon. Am in NNSW and prior to this outbreak - in Sydney, and with no community transmission cases in NNSW for months - could have gone. QLD border now shut for attendance at sporting events even to border bubble residents. Don't get many chances to get to games so this is most annoying, Gladys.
  8. Real Footy Podcast - I think Jake Niall - said AFL would be brave to hold in WA, given that a no-crowds order could literally be imposed on the day of a final. Caro thinks Adelaide. Surely Gabba or Adelaide if not the G. Better to have 50k at AO or G rather than 20k at the G, maybe? Finals 5 weeks away (?) and GF 9....lot of water under the bridge between now and then.
  9. Or snap hooking from the tee and constantly having to chip out/recover, getting more and more desperate. Poor Ian Baker-Finch.
  10. Agree on the first part. You're missing my point. Plenty on here have politicised it - and I agree it should be objective. But the roll out and the pandemic more generally have become highly politicised, there is no denying that. The messaging from the top - and I don't care what flavour that is - I'm unaligned politically - needs to be unambiguous and clear to assauge the concerns that have built up through a spectacularly poor public health campaign. Saying something is totally safe is probably not the best approach when others are talking about balanced risk when the risk though small is death. Language is important, and the word totally has a pretty well-understood meaning, and any context risks getting lost in the noise. It's obvious the calculus in Sydney has changed so I'll not argue that. I've leave it there.
  11. https://thenewdaily.com.au/news/coronavirus/2021/07/22/scott-morrison-astrazeneca-atagi/ The Prime Minister has said exactly that. The bolded text below is pretty unambiguous don't you think, he added his rider there though. The families of people who've died as a result of having the vaccine might have a different point of view. Can't argue with the rest of your post. The whole thing has been a public health and communication nightmare. Disc: I work inside health so appreciate risk/benefits, messaging, etc
  12. Cannot find - which section? They have us at 1.17 to make it this AM. They also have Sydney at 3.40 and Bris 2.37. Looking at both their draws, I suspect one of them has more chance of going 4-0 than we do of, what do we need to do - 2-2 with other results our way or 3-1 irrespective of other games?
  13. Great question - I honestly don’t know - which team turns up? The only game I’m sort of comfortable with is Adelaide. I honestly have had little confidence week to week since the North game - yes yes despite going 9-0. Cats Tigers Dogs Port good wins but to me they’ve felt anomalous….hawks x 2, pies, north, Saints, bombers, swans, Adelaide even the blues . That’s just me though. if the earlier season melbourne turns up well we could go 3-1 or 4-0 but I think the cats are going to run amok. I hope that game isn’t to try and save too 4. I afear we’ll fall apart. very happy to be wrong though !!!!
  14. Good precis I don’t follow the VFL - do Declase and Bowey offer run and polish? I mentioned last week Melksham and his targeting inside 50 would help - kicking polish. jones for composure
  15. in - straight kicking for goal please
  16. I’ll take that bet. I think we will go 2-2 but it could easily be 1-3.
  17. We’re very lucky we haven’t wasted the season and set ourselves for a top 2 by not losing to any of the bottom teams and having a draw yet.
  18. Cancellara isn’t a footballer ?!
  19. Are we allowed to discuss this outside the paradigm Of football I’d hate to be political and get a post deleted but this change in advice demands it a sceptical person might infer that someone had called atagi and ask them To get the masses to take AZ this reeks of political inteference of course AZ is “totally safe” (I’ve had AZ to be clear) ooopps! aaaannnnd that will no doubt affect the footy
  20. I’ve already started writing my music based season review . It’s like Homers Epic - I better add Faith No More’s Epic!
  21. Dogs by 27 points. 2.07 on SB
  22. 1 mil a week of Pfizer arriving now. Sydney mass vax just opened for more Pfizer - brother in law confirmed booked for next week after waiting 4 weeks. Linking to footy - this means we should be able to go to the footy now.
  23. Your previous post re: restrictions: there are currently LGA and 10km restrictions. I make no comment on the appropriateness of 10k v 5k, merely make the observation. Lost the plot is quite a contentious assertion and implies quite a number of things - perhaps it might be more accurate to say they can't keep up with the volume? Which of course is a function of people moving around, which CT can't control. It's worth remembering these are actual people doing this - I know some of them. I am in regional NSW in the northern border bubble and would prefer a ring of steel approach and more stringent lockdown, 4 weeks ago. So as to avoid any perception this isn't about footy: I now can't get to theGold Coast Dees game (yes I unpacked my miniature Stradivarius). Disclosure: no political commentary. Not picking a fight, just highlighting some operational parameters.
  24. Citation required on following: NSW taking bulk of inbound travellers? (If that's what was meant by heavy lifting. Discl: am in NSW outside Sydney, hurry up with the ring of steel already!) What a mess. No more games in NSW this year, probably? Sydney and GWS won't be going home till they're knocked out?
  25. Why is 100 the magic number? Genuine q. 90, 93 and 98 seem handy. 93 and 98 in particular, lots of shots on goal
