On the 20th May in one of the many media releases from the state budget, this appeared : Funding is provided and held in central contingency for a range of AFL/AFLW and VFL infrastructure and community projects including Gosch’s Paddock upgrade (Melbourne FC), Kennedy Community Centre Dingley (Hawthorn FC) and Downer Oval (Williamstown Seagulls FC). Release of funds from contingency will be subject to finalisation of project scopes and funding profiles, and decisions regarding AFLW expansion. Essentially a feasibility and scope study for Goschs. Note : just because funds have been allocated does not mean they will ever be released.

Perhaps i was thinking too literally on community. What community does Goschs paddock serve in its current form? I dont think I have even seen a dog walker. Punt road murders access. personally I think the MFC winning the GF would be great for the community at large but what would I know....

One of my treasury 'sources' stated that any proposal must have community benefit and include AFLW.....

TBH I don't think passing a comment in this forum could be classified as kicking up a stink. I was just pointing out that it pays to be a late joiner. Mind you if I remember correctly $50 or whatever in the MCC reserve would hardly touch the sides, and you have to be there to spend it so it might be a good earner for the MCC. So we have won 8 straight and we have to pay people to join.

So I shouldn't take up my membership with my MCC renewal but wait 6+ months for a special offer?
