  1. We’re going and we’ll be loud! Goody convinced me! (Costing a small fortune- bought a package) Where’s a good pub for post game celebration (hopefully)? Also to watch the game on Friday night?
  2. I listened to the podcast on the way to work this morning, could not believe it when she talked about Jim’s statue and compared Melbourne’s tanking episode with essendon’s injecting program. It undid anything complimentary she said about us getting over the huge hurdle of Sunday. Just shows she takes it all very personally, can’t let it go, and must have really hated Cameron shwab’s guts. anyway at the end of the day, she the one that looks the fool - bitter and mean spirited
  3. This is so true LH, 3 generations of our family were together watching today, (some more intently than others!), but the joy was shared equally. My kids for example have grown up watching the Dees fail over the last 12 years, and I was born the year we last won the flag, so equally no joy for anyone. Then the really olds desperately want a little success before they fall of the perch.
  4. Home now after an extended celebration at the pub, where we we’re watching. How much sweeter after waiting so long. in the depths of despair after wce hit the front by a point fully expecting them to kick on from them. But the Dees, how courageous! Jones found something special, Harmes just so strong, Oliver, Petracca -class shows . So many things to like. Happiness at my House!
  5. How true that is, don’t they get sick of it?
  6. Oh and while I’m at it, wait for their whinging to start because they don’t get to play a final at their state government funded home stadium
  7. 100% agree with all these anti Geelong posts. I liked them while they won their flags, because they had waited so long, but since then, the unbearable arrogance of their supporters, the way g abblet, took the money from Gold Coast and ran, the unchallenged lack of sportsmanship from Dangerfield, and most of all the whinging, bleating of their coach, have made me hate them with gusto. May they be embarrassed out of the first week of the finals by 186 and spend the next decade at the foot of the ladder.
  8. The ABC interviewed an umpire last Friday night who was that weekend umpiring his 350th. His account made me appreciate the increasing difficulty of their job
  9. He sounds like he was so homesick in those early days.
  10. It’s all just so predictable, isn’t it? A big game with so much riding on it and we come out looking second rate. I left the ground thinking of tuning the rest of the season out. And the finals consisting of usuals in Geelong, hawthorn, Sydney and wce holds no interest for me.
  11. What a shame Cats sarcasm dripping
  12. Happened when we lost to the saints
  13. David king and that bloke from champion data, glen Luff(???) are of the same opinion. Even when we do things like sat night, the point they make, is that we are so very close, and when finally that last piece of the puzzle falls into place , we are going to be sustainably seriously hard to beat. who knows? But listening to their SEN podcast with what’s his name in the afternoons on SEN, on my drive home from work, has certainly helped with my MFCSS this season.

Remember stkilda beating us with a goal in literally the dying seconds of the game a couple of a seasons ago, I distinctly remember the club talk of the learnings from that game. They were able to demonstrate the ‘learnings ‘ and protect their narrow lead shortly after, with that amazing win over west coast in Perth -tommy Mac kicking that miraculous goal over his head. Remember him not stopping to celebrate but instructing team mates demonstratively, what to do to protect the narrow lead. they forgot the learnings
  15. After listening to Goodwin’s presser, I agree with your sentiments. still life in the season, and last nights’s experience will make the Dees better and hungrier. Meanwhile we are improving, this is the part from which I take solace. Also we have been desperately unlucky
  16. Yes, it will be challenging to win 3 more games with our draw, but if we don’t, we clearly are not good enough. Geelong are 100% vulnerable as are other teams given some key injuries. I believe we’ll make the 8 and closely miss the 4, that midfield display we saw in the third yesterday to be more on display. i tipped this round based on the most advantageous outcome for Melbourne, including telling my 10 year old lions barracking nephew, to do the job on the hawks. Ive done well, with wins to the lions, freo, and adelaide. Bonus points to see hawks end the round at 10th - out of the 8, Long may it continue!
  17. Ashley Porter gives a fair summary in the age this morning. And I feel the better for reading it. It was an intense, high quality game and we will learn from it. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/power-beat-demons-in-epic-arm-wrestle-20180622-p4zn82.html
  18. great post. In some ways it reminded me of last year, when we would have the ball in our inside 50 for minutes at a time yet not convert. Inexperience, lack of composure and polish. We have the fundamentals but need more experience to finish off. A realistic outcome for 2018 would be to make the 8, win a final then next year come back with some of the much needed finishing ability.
  19. Well done umpires, but it would help if we took a frigging mark
