Who do you remember/ honour?
My grandfather was a vet from WW1. Like many others he didn’t like to talk about the war. But there is one special story about him that we will never forget. He didn’t drink, smoke gamble or play cards, except on one occasion he did - while his platoon was on a long distance train travel. He played cards that night and gambling was involved. It turns out he was a healthy winner, so with his profits he purchased a camera. He then became popular as his mates all wanted photos to send home. He saved every dollar he earned from this side venture. He was either expensive or it was a long campaign, because when he returned to western Victoria after the war, he used his savings to purchase a bus, and started a bus line based in Hamilton and heading to and fro Portland, among other places. Ultimately he sold that business to a young up and comer by the name of Reg Ansett snr who obviously was able to grow the business exponentially and ultimately expanded into the airline business. My grandfather never played cards or gambled again. Not sure about the drink though. It’s he who I fondly remember each and every ANZAC day. Lest we forget.

NON-MFC: Round 06
Agree with your concerns FD. How anyone could be certain of our abilities after our last round performance, is just that - sheer optimism, nothing more. If I hear the excuse that we had 3 games in 13 days again I’ll scream. If we were tired, we would have faded as the game wore on. But we didn’t even have one quarter of solid football. We were comprehensively beaten all day. My previous optimism has taken a beating after that performance, so I have no idea how good(or not) we are and where we are likely to finish. And I guess maybe that’s how it’s supposed to be. The old “one game at a time”. So I’m looking forward to the Richmond game and not worrying about any further ahead than that. Four points first and if possible a percentage boost. Then on to the next.

Love the front, hate the back. You’d think Hertz might get into the spirit and have a logo that worked for this special jumper.

Yes, his career record till end of 2021: 102 goals, 118 behinds, so not so reliable at all.

The Tom $cully Medal
So ANB should have 5 votes, and therefore must have been missed for some reason.

Um
You’d handle both of them with one arm tied behind your back. They’d be WCW’d.

Um
Haha I’d prefer to watch this one.

Why do you care what Dermott “I’m just a Stone Age dirtbag baby” Brereton says or thinks? He’s an [censored]. Why give him any airtime at all? I do admit I love it when the football media is against us. Why would I want those cretins pushing our barrow? I’m a lot saner since I stopped watching and listening to these so-called football experts about 4 years ago. The only thing I get worked up about now is game day - and that’s enough for me thanks.

The ANB Appreciation Thread
In addition, RG, he said that once he has ball in hand he now takes a breath and steadies before disposing. I think that has been a key element in his improvement.

The ANB Appreciation Thread
ANB is the exact mould of a team- first player and clubman that Tasmania should be chasing. (But hands- off Nibbla!).

PODCAST: Rd 01 vs Western Bulldogs
Binny, why are you suggesting that the SCG has "ridiculous dimensions"? From a total area perspective (set up for AFL) its middle of the road from all the grounds we play on. From a length perspective its only 5m shorter than the MCG (at 160m), but while it is the shortest of the main grounds we play on, it's only 1m shorter than the Gabba. In terms of width, there are only 3 grounds wider than it - with the MCG (at 141m) being 5m greater. It is actually only 2m less width than the Gabba, but 13m wider than the Adelaide Oval, and a massive 21m greater width than Kardinia Park. It's approx the same size as the Gabba in length and width, and I cannot remember hearing any adverse comments about the "ridiculous dimensions" of the Gabba (although I could be wrong here). At 5m shorter and 5m less width than the MCG, the SCG therefore has similar proportions to the G - ie its exactly 96% of both its width and length - and therefore you wouldn't think it would affect the Dees too much. If the MCG is the benchmark for length to width ratio - (L:W 1.13 : 1), then the Gabba at 1.13 : 1 and the SCG at 1.14 :1 are all very similar. With Docklands at 1.24 : 1, Bellerive at 1.29 : 1, Adelaide Oval at 1.36 : 1, and Kardinia Park at 1.48 : 1 bringing up the tail. All this perhaps begs the question, should the SCG be copping such flack about its "ridiculous dimension"? I also cannot think of another code of football that doesn't have same set dimensions at every ground it plays on. This, I believe, is a unique character of AFL, and therefore makes it more interesting in so many ways - to my eyes at least. (dimensions taken from a 2022 ABC analysis article).

Welcome to Demonland: Caleb Windsor
My memory could be bad but I was of the opinion that the only player that had a Flower-like gate that I’d seen was Keith Greig from North.
