  1. Donny, perhaps you are presuming a bit much about Witnall! He didnt try to hard during a lot of his career especially to get fit etc. so why was his attitude different in his last game?? Luckily he did not come to MFC! Redleg. Not sure how by starting this post you hoped to end discussion on this issue???? Problem is that the media is all over this this week. Only distraction being the consecutive rising star nominations. We are all just going to have to tough it our over the next 5 weeks
  2. Based on form over the week end MFC could easily win more than 1 more game!! So yes nothing is certain! On Saturday we were comfortably assuming Pt Adelaide would come to play against MFC. Freo's effort makes a win against them at the G an odds on certainty now. The danger is that ALL of the sides was play in the next 5 weeks lost on the weekend and only 1 of those Geelong will play finals. As we can only afford to win 1 more game significant change we could win 2 or more! Swans and Roos at least may send some off early for surgery. Also, even if we make changes to the team the guys next in line playing at Casey are also playing well so the Football Department has a big task to manage things over next 5 weeks. As noted above its very frustrating to noe get an ideal run home when we least need one!!!
  3. Is Chris Connolly eligible to play? Colin Garland perhaps? where is 426 when we need him?? The worry with Newton is he might have a day out and hit form!
  4. All too true!! I am still haunted by then events of Norm's sacking and remember vividly watchin disbelievingly in the stands as an 11 yer old as Norm trudged past the Members on the fatefull Saturday! We all sensed the disaster! [i just hope PA and NM turn up when they play us because we will find it difficult to lose to Richmond and Freo.] Part of our risk is that the other bottom clubs dont have many likely wins in the remaining rounds other than MFC! So 5 winds might elevate us to 14th! Absolutely no benefit in winning more than 4 games! [Davey looks like his got a runny nose, might need some surgery.] I have heard that Jack Watts' migrene may have been infectious and should affect 1 to 2 players per game from now on. Alternatively, MFC players may continue the aggression from last week and a few more may be reported. IMO MFC should have appealed Sylvia's 3 weeks suspension as it is of much less value for the Pt. A, Geelong and Swans games compared with rounds 18 to 20!
  5. Dont tempt them!!! remember the other option for the 3rd colour in the members survey in 2007was the Pt Adelaide turquoise!!
  6. Hopefully the MFC players moved on from Chris Johnson's departure be Xmas 2008! We dont want to beat either Richmond or Freo to make sure they each win more games than MFC to make sure of the 2nd first round draft pick! Pt Adelaide and Nth Mlb are danger games!
  7. Thanks HT for top post. shows the importance of proper recruiting during the 3 years of Bailey's term. Hopefully MFC will ensure the long term by managing performances for rest of 2009 to make sure Scully and one more Rnd 1 pick added to our list for 2010. Agree this should ensure another 4 or 5 debutants for next year. Maybe finally MFC timing will be good as spread of players stocks will be thin for next few years due to Gold Coast and West Sydney!!
  8. Absolute stand out performance of the round and thoroughly deserved Jack!
  9. RR points both spot on and add Jared Rivers who has had a few weeks of poor performances in regard to decision making and being caught out on the lead (not his strong point). Yesterday NONE of our senior players had any influence on the games. Only Brad Green likely to deserve be retained beyond this year. Sad but true that none of them will still be in the side when MFC becomes successful given that is a couple of years away at least.
  10. Would have told him as early as possible in the week to allow him to settle and prepare. Also just got text. Will no doubt at to the day against the filth!! As long as Jack is ready this is a good move and will add interest and numbers to the QB clash! Well done MFC.
  11. Having survived watching the Gablich run from the wing as a 10 year old kid in 64 beating the filth by less than a goal is the ultimate premiership dream! (enjoyed 66 and 70 also even wasnt the dees!) Thumping the Bummers would be next best because of 2000 GF treatment of our young players!!! After so long in the end would not care as long as we break the drought!! Aaron or Jack Watts would be worthy candidates to hold the cup up as both likely to be in the mix in 3 or 4 years and not only have the talent but also quality individuals off field too.
  12. Hannabal is totally correct. Mick is not a hot head. I have had some strong debates with him in regard to some matters but is right to defend the position of the MFC in regard to women over the past several years. Whilst in favour of his motives on the issue Jimmy should have made it very clear that MFC was distanced from what he was stating. It is a very dangerous subject to be commenting on & MFC would be better served by refraining from the debate. Nothing to be gained and long way back might be of issue.
  13. I dont think Jackson was around when the Melbourne and North Melb merger was on!!! So cant be dementure!!!! Of all the proposed mergers it was the one which may have worked well - culturally and the mix of MFC NMFC and Qantas. Also the jumper was lot better than lot of the clash one about now!! Was mid 1980s I think. ATM all 3 organisations are financially challenged!
  14. Totally Agree. Very brave effort from a quality young guy! Our condolences also to Clint and his family.
  15. Looking like a top sponsor already and something of value to all MFC members. Hope MFC will push Kaspersky to support them. Have not received anything yet about this discount. Will change to them when our anti virus expires!
  16. I think our premiership clock is an analogue one (circa '64) and is a wind up one!! We are ahead of ND as his premiership clock has stopped altogether. Howevere I think it has somehow managed to not even be correct twice a day as I dont recalll it ever having told the correct time in 10 years!
  17. The guys listed need to concentrate on getting a few kicks and playing well for the rest of 2009 and future captaincy is a long way out at this time. Hopefully Junior will retain sufficient form to continue into 2010 as dont see anyone else being ready. Also that would go to end of DB's term. If had to appoint someone else in the short term it should be Brad Green but probably wouldnt be! Of the 4 in the poll Aaron is the maturest mentally ( I dont know Cale but he would not be short term prospect).
  18. The most worrying for me is the lask of influence and/or form of Brock?? if not injured then is a big problem. MFC getting NO value out of 2 top draft picks in the same year!! PJ also lost form. Dunn has not come on either. As is 2nd year of DB coaching group there should be better signs from such players. Far too much load on Jones, Green, Davey, Bruce and the defence! They can't keep it up all year! Only logic I can see in the first 3 rounds is perhaps because missing several senior players giving all the untried players a go and conceding the games on the basis that there will be clear basis for a clean out at end of 2009 - Meesen, Newton, Sylvia, etc. plus getting some game time into the kids
  19. Agree YM is spot on with this. Cam is one of the MFC more expericienced players who has viewed success in terms of number of possessions and not the effectiveness of the possessions he gets. Has become more wasteful and many more wayward kicks than earlier in his career and either more selfish or has lost lateral vision as regularly does not pass to players in the clear. Not on his own but is the worst ATM.
  20. Based on the round 3 efforts by MFC and RFC we definitely are a chance to win! Both MFC and RFC played absolute ##%& in 2nd quarter and lost their game then. So pretty evenly matched in that regard!!! Would prefer the media to get off Plough's back though as all the pressure may make the Tiges play better!! His self declared month is not up yet & they play North and Swans after us. MFC needs everything to go right for us towin on Sunday..they can get the knives out afterwards!
  21. Thanks Jaded. I reported first one last week & member was deleted and 2 more since over easter. Is just annoying!!.. *&&(&(^*%*%. What about making them buy a MFC membership before can post??? PS: Please keep YM out of the Mods so will keep griping!
  22. It is wonderful to have the MFC reinstated formally with the MCC. In hindsight the separation should never have occurred and would not have if we had not had to go into debt to buy Templeton's dodgy knees! If the term "margin loan" had been invented back in 1980 it would definitely have been one. Was well less than a marginal deal for the MFC and we have been paying for it for 29 years! Agree with earlier sentiment that all MFC supporters (and those of us who are also MCC members should just take the positives of this announcement and take it as just a restoration of the correct order and realignment which is positive for both MFC and MCC.
  23. Having sufferred all the lows we have over the past few decades we need to wait a couple more hours and see exactly has been established. However, if the announcement is as Andrew Maher was saying on SEN is will secure the future of the MFC "forever". In which case the Stynes board will have answered all our prayers!!.
  24. Also, Class does not get the pill in the first place!! Class plus one of most senior players should equal one of best players each week. Cam has become more of an outside player but fallen away in going hard and getting to the contest when it his turn to go. Sadly his effectiveness for the side is falling away too quickly! But wont be dropped YM. On the rest miller and bate worst for effectiveness from possessions they had. Think it is going to be acase of giving the youngsters some game time until enough of senior players are available. Need all of Wheatley, Whelan, Bell, Jamar Plus Wonna and Martin before can stand up all game. A number need to enjoy 2008 as will be going at end of the season.
