  1. Spot on! Could easily have won a couple of games early and another 3 in last 6 weeks. Vastly better structure and methodology in 2009 and if improvement in 2010 continues on similar level will be strting to be real finalist material in 2011. A number of commentators have noted this also. Richmond definately lot worse than MFC and dont think, Nth, Swans (although may spend to cover up) Bummers or Freo have as good a young list as MFC and less potential to develop over next 3 years in view of GCoast priorities.
  2. On the performance of the coach , DB should be awarded an MOE (Master of Experimenting). Very well managed
  3. Wheels and Wheatley would have to break a leg not to be in the team on Sunday & Robbo will be playing without any shackles at all. Doesnt matter if each of them cant play out the game. So certain to play! <_< Other selections should only be influenced by whether the Footy Dept is still unsure about any players future although not sure how 1 more game would change much. Only other considerations should be Davey to play as played all games this year and whether any MFC players need 1 more game to qualify to play finals with Casey.
  4. No lets not hold that against him!! Aaron has the maturity and ability to handle the responsibility as well as the personal attention while his game is stronger by the year. With Robbo departing he will be the most recognised MFC player. For those reasons we think he should edge out beamer and Greeny. Beamer and Rivers have not been consistently on the park enough before this year. So if it is for 2010 then a Flash is a fair bet for the double with the Bluey in 2009.
  5. Thank God the three Carlton muppets chose this week to miss training as we would have won if they had not played on Saturday!!!!!
  6. No chance after last game - we could't kick behinds from any angle against Carltank!
  7. Aaron would have to be odds on especially as the onle player to play all 22 games this year :D Brad Green has missed several games through injury so thie will hurt his chances. Stronger performances in 2009 have been by Beamer, Bate, Rivers, Warnock Col Sylvia, Chip
  8. Its a 2.10 start. MFC is also offering members an upgrade to premium membership for the day if anyone is interested. Email yesterday but contact the club for details.
  9. Although it will be sad that a number of MFC players are playing their last game for the club this Sunday as many of us as possible should get to the G and show our appreciation of the careers of Robbo Wheels and Wheater for the MFC. Hoping the DB will "instruct" Robbo to go for some speckies and give us a final highlight or two! I am sure the younger players would relish this also. Pretty sure Matty Whelan will be picked for Sunday and DB has said he fully deserves to get to his 150th game. Equally hope that Paul Wheatley is also picked to play for the MFC one more time. He also deserves a farewell game and at least once more should kick out to the centre - right up the middle and have a short on the run from outside 50m. Even if on one leg those 2 should be in the side. All of these guys are loyal MFC players and played all their careers for the Red &Blue. They are also leaving this week in deference to the long term interests of the club. Each of them is also a nice guy and always have had enough time to spend time with the supporters! So we need to ensure there is a decent sized crowd on Sunday to send them off. Thanks guys for all your efforts :D :D :D
  10. pitmaster. just take a deep breath and try to be patient!! only 5 days before we can all relax!! MFC is making some hard decisions in ending careers of current players like Robbo in interests of long term benefit of the MFC and all of us. Given all the effort to not win more than 4 games to this stage and 45 years since our last premiership absolutely essential we get picks 1 &2 now. Best for MFC is Saints have a good year this year and even win the flag as will mean we dont have to feel any sympathy for them in 2011 to 2104 wheh its our turn!!!
  11. No doubt like most of the other Carltank supporters he was embarrassed about how inept Carltank players were in the first half!!!! Still trying to cover up their efforts against MFC 2 games before in teh Kruzer cup.. Hey. shouldn't expect any Bluebaggers to let the facts get in the way - they havent in regard to salary cap, external deals courtesy of Visy, financials ala cost anyalysis for the"Legends" stand or the fact they had to borrow a player each Saturday from "Coburg College" to pay some years ago. All 5 of us were there and the Carlton and neutral supporters there all agreed that MFC is doing exactly the right thing by our club at the moment!!
  12. Was great that Robbo got to move to 3rd all time MFC goal kicker on Saturday as now absolutely no pressure in the final game on Sunday! DB MUST give him full licence to go for a final specky!!! Would be great for the whole team! Congrats Robbo on a great achievement! Not at all to shabby considering the calibre and standing of the two blokes ahead of him. Neita we all remember and the Red Fox apparently knew a bit a bout footy too!! B) We are looking forward to cheering Robbo and Wheels on Sunday one more time at the G!!

    Jamar

RR I would have thought that was the intention!! seemed clear to me with the late withdrawn midfielder replaced by another tall!! Problem was that Carltank were very ordinary in the first half and it nearly backfired!! Russian could not kick a behind at all on Saturday from any angle. Was very solid especially as a couple came from second efforts after marking contests!
  14. Not surprised if you didnt notice when Frawley was taken off Fev. DB had to do it twice before Carltank woke up to the move!!! first time they took Fev off to the bench too and he didn't get 1 goal on McNamara! Perhaps because we were ony 6 rows back???? Nice one DB very subtle countermove. Forced when trying to hide our best ruckman at full forward backfired when the Russian could not kick a behind to save himself!
  15. Spot on Dappa D. Not the same hard line as with Ooze, Whitey Wheels Wheater & Robbo. Sadly Macca at 33 clearly will not be part of the success of the young group MFC has and is building as finals window is 2011 to 2015. Hopefully Junior playing on will not turn out badly next year as he has lost a yerd this year and clearly struggled during the middle of this year (injury or form?). Perhaps Club's view would be different if he was not the captain and there was a ready candidate for the captaincy
  16. If fit Whelan. Absolutely must get him to 150 if we can. Wheatley to ensure he gets a send off. Next priority may be Buckley if fit if he needs to stake a claim to stay on the list. Out: anyone other than Davey as he is only one to play every game in 2009.
  17. Robbo has been a great presonality around the MFC since starting as Woey' sidekick at club functions. He has always been great on firled for memorable events but equally always been great wit the supporters and partiuclarly the kids. He has always remembered and chatted with our 3 boys especially the youngest who wears no 24 & his demon teddy "Robbo" is signed by Robbo. Hope the MFC makes sure Robbo is in the side in rnd 22 at least so we can send him off in style and DB should give him full licence to fly for everything one more time!!! Very best wishes for the future RR and hope you get another years somewhere on the condition dont beat the MFC! Thanks for all the memorable highlights during your career!
  18. ALSO VOTE FOR ROBBO's Mark insame game in Mark of the Year - on AFL site.
  19. BB59. your logic is sound but if it is to be applied to Robbo it should also apply equally to others who are up for renewal. Junior is also out of contract and whilst he had a good game on Sunday he has lost a yard and less efffective this year. Can't be part of plans 2011 onwards. Maybe Captaincy is saving him from same consideration? I agree with the previous sentiments that in pure terms Newton and Miller should go before Robbo as neither of them has shown anything this year and gone backwards without any injury excuses. Likely only to be saved by fact that they are contracted in 2010 and no currency with any other clubs.
  20. We will be happy picking up Scully but don't know what form Miss Cella Neous has? Worth a look Jaaded???? Saints being pipped by the Bummers probably good for MFC as alwys better to drop one a few games out and then gear up in last couple of games before the finals rather than in the finals. Saints were 43 down less than 5 minutes before 3 qtr time. Carltank more of a risk backin up from Adelaid trip and whilst they won well against PT Adelaide, like MFC the Blues did not play against much yesterday. Fact that is at Etihad will help. Hopefully we can relax a bit by end of Saturday afternoon.
  21. Good points in the post overall but a slight oversight in regard to the coaches. Mark Williams is one of the assistant coaches having been promoted in 2 steps from when was Sandy coach. He is a good coach (3 premierships with Sandy and good results overall). Also is a nice guy and very well respected by the players. I am not sure Mahoney will go. Wasnt he hand picked by Bailey and came with him to MFC??
  22. Bail (quad) and Bruce (wrist) certain outs and Cam is out for the rest of the year. No reason to play Brock given his lack of a preseason and Jack Watts has hardly played any sort of fotty for several weeks. Nex 3 weeks should be used to try and get Wheels to 150 if he is fit enough and Robbo should be given a farewell game either against the Shockers or Saints at the G. Club and Robbo need to come out this week and says what is happening with him. If there are any others ending up same applies. If fit should give Buckley 1 or 2 to see where he is at. Otherwise should play those who are playing for their career. If shockers can play as well this week as they did on Sunday MFC will not need to be carefull with selections although given the latest injuries things may well be taking care of themselves and so last 3 games of little concern perhaps.
  23. Dees of 26. Three questions. 1. How did you (a) know about and (B) get invited to the function? Dont recall it being publicised. 2. Did they say whether the MFC's is trading profitably in 2009? 3. What did they say the current amount of debt of MFC is? In regard to the debt it is very disappointing to see such a wide discrepancy in the reports of the event last night. On MFC website its say the debt is "now below $1.2m"; an email sent to me by the MFC this morning says"less than $2million left to demolish" and the Age article says the club "had debtsof $3.8m at the end of last seaon". Very confusing and potentially misleading. Given the performances this year, including the Sunday night twilight game against Adelaide at the G, there is no way the MFC would be making a $1m plus profit this year???
  24. Yes would hope Colin is!! I have met a couple of them some time ago but don't know if any of them are MFC supporters. Will try and find out.
  25. Either way MFC should have invited both of them to the Debt Demolition function at the MCC Members Dining room last night as maybe both would have had some cash to give to the club as each has something to celebrate!
