WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DAVID RODAN
Demons 32 replied to Demon Head's topic in Melbourne Demons
This is all true... Rodan isn't a superstar but would add something to our team that we do not have. His injuries were behind him this year, Primus just didn't pick him.... Primus got fired. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DAVID RODAN
Demons 32 replied to Demon Head's topic in Melbourne Demons
Rodans manager on trade week radio suggested the Dees have been in contact. The guy does have X factor... we need some of that, plus he is quick as lightning in bursts. -
Has said he is leaving Geelong and is confident something can be worked out with Melbourne as they have been in contact with management for most of the year.
-
Dan Richardson (Byrnes manager) said he is leaving Geelong and it's well documented that Melbourne are very keen so I wouldn't expect any issues for Shannon.
-
According to Trade Week Radio the MFC will hit the Wellingham chase hard as soon as he returns from Perth.
-
Trade week radio just tweeted that they are live today 3-5pm with Hutchy and Barrett. I am assuming they realised there would be some demand for Free Agency talk so are doing a small segment each day. You can listen through the AFL website, as well as the AFL app this year.

The Big Q and Clark? Good luck fighting those guys.

Enough with wanting to pick up other clubs rejects
Demons 32 replied to Parma's topic in Melbourne Demons
Seems pretty basic doesn't it? -
The thing that annoys me is that you have suddenly all made up an opinion based on this one game... All it ends up looking like is that you don't watch a lot of football throughout the year. Wellingham has stepped up multiple times... Beams, Daisy, Sidebottom, Swan... They all struggled. Said it before and I'll say it again, Swans played really well, try not to over analyse things. You lot would say Mitch Clark had some [censored] pea heart games in the past to, one game does not make a career.
-
Haha you guys are total morons... Wellingham has struggled, as has Beams, Sidebottom, Swan, Thomas. Could it be possible... Just maybe... That the Swans played really well? No such thing as a pea heart player in the AFL and for MFC supporters to ever bag a premiership player from the Collingwood midfield is absolutely laughable.
-
Now that is intense!
-
Are you honestly saying that you believe Watts attacks the ball with intensity? The guy reads the play, he has elite skills, amazing potential and scope to be an MFC superstar... but intensity at the contest is 100% his biggest weakness.
-
Still think Wellingham has potential to be A grader, still very young. Mitch Clark wasn't worth the cash etc last year in most peoples minds but we picked him up as he was entering his prime. Maybe getting 22 year old Wellingham will be the same?
-
Ok first off, not turning this into a Watts thing, he is my boy and I am not here to find reasons why he is no good. He has an extremely laconic attitude which does not mean he isn't trying, but to put his name in the same breath of Scott Pendlebury is very strange. I get that everyone wants him to be as good and they both have bball backgrounds... But Pendles shows incredible work rate and intensity at the contest when it is his time to go. Watts currently does not have that and I will not sit here and write that he does purely because he plays for MFC. In regards to tackling technique you are very very very right. Big muscles don't make good tacklers, technique does.... But so does core strength which isn't anywhere near as visual as arm size. Fact is Wellingham has had 5 years in a system promoting core strength, it was one of David Butterfants main directives at Collingwood. I do not believe our players have anywhere near the core strength needed to be a strong tackling side across the board.
-
Myth? Wowee. Because there is a difference between being streamlined and being weak. Morton attempts a tackle, shrugged. Wellingham attempts a tackle, sticks.
-
1. Kidnapp Wattsy's family and make him fight people for their freedom to give him some intensity. 2. Get Sharrod Wellingham 3. Bulk up the players 4. Promote Dan Nicholson 5. Make sure that Mitch Clark is right to go for round 1.
-
He is worth every cent and attention.... Had some concussions this year so everyone is bagging his current form.
-
First question, are you meaning Josh Kennedy from the Swans? If so it's pick 4 you must give. However the Swans still wouldn't trade him, purely because trading out proven hard bodies who have bought in for speculative 18 year olds does not fit their culture.
-
I hate some Australians.... love Australia, but this is just like the "don't put the Australian flag up" argument. Have some national pride you wanks.
-
Wellingham is a very good player who looks ready to become a star like Beams has this year. I would be very very very happy to have Sharrod.

Aaron Davey reconsidering his position at Melbourne
Demons 32 replied to Brayshaw Self's topic in Melbourne Demons
I know this isn't exclusive to Demonland, but over the past 2 years I have heard a somewhat common theme that Davey is overpaid and supporters would be happy to have him on less money. Money... I hate it when money comes into argument or opinion of a player.... fact is Aaron deserved that contract when it was given to him and the market dictated that was his worth. Injuries, form lapses etc happen in every sport, however it is important to never blame a player for his wage, always blame the guy who signed the cheque. If I was being overpaid for what I can output at this stage of my career am I really going to ask for less money? I don't think what a player is being paid from a contract signed after the best form of said players career is even remotely pertinent to his current output. Blame list managers, blame the market, but never blame the guy getting paid. -
Key Position Forward - who do you think we can/should get
Demons 32 replied to melbfc2013's topic in Melbourne Demons
Robbie Tarrant could be a good CHF option moving forward, has head scrathing moments but has potential. Q-Lynch actually makes a ton of sense, much like the Shannon Byrnes thing, we need mature heads to fill some holes for a few years who have premiership experience at great clubs, the big Q fits the bill. Also, imagine matching up on Clark and Lynch? Either one could kill you so you would be mindful getting in their way. Gumbleton has great hands, that is all he has though. I believe these 3 could all be attainable. However most likely is Aaron Edwards for mine, he could be our 2nd leading goal scorer next season no problem, always snags 1 or 2 every game he plays. -
Ash Smith and Koby Stevens for our pick in 20s
Demons 32 replied to ashdemons22's topic in Melbourne Demons
Jesus guys lay off the thread starter..... Just raising a topic of debate. Even if you think posts are crap or not what is wrong with someone stating their opinion? Or what they would like to see? It's an oldy but a goody, but if you don't like something, don't read it. Or better yet, if you have nothing nice to say......... -
Ash Smith and Koby Stevens for our pick in 20s
Demons 32 replied to ashdemons22's topic in Melbourne Demons
Would love both of them.... however this is not reality. -
I don't think the club want Rivers out.... I am happy for him to explore his options, I have tremendous respect for Jared and believe he deserves some finals footy with Geelong and he will be able to play a significant role. If he stays. great.... If he leaves, then good luck Riv, I hope you play some finals.
