Alot makes me mad.... But picking Wines over Toumpas would send me into a fit of rage. I don't want to annoy everyone on Demonland with my soapbox on draft night so just hope we get it right.
-
Take the picks, fine the club and boot out club people... But for god sake do not take Viney.
-
Yeah in the under 18's and occassionaly at Casey.
-
God I hope Strauss develops into a top small running defender.... He had elite skills as a junior and we could use that coming out of the back half.

I liked the look of Ugle... but didn't perform on the big stage. Luke Rounds would be a small chance I think, he is tough and works hard.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CAMERON PEDERSEN
Demons 32 replied to Hannibal's topic in Melbourne Demons
Trade radio saying it's Gysberts and a late pick being traded for Pederson. If so, oooovvvveeeerrrrsssss. -
What are North smoking? Pederson is a better version of Sellar and a worse version of Martin....
-
This is spot on... If Toumpas or Grundy slipped to pick 4 I think we would jump at them, but they will most likely be gone by then so the option really is Wines or O'Rourke. O'Rourke has a great upside and provides us with some class. Wines is ready to go now, he may not improve a heap once he is here but would still be bloody good.
-
Yes.... people who "never really stood out" always get drafted at pick 4. Even if 4 was overs, he was still top 10, Barry would never in any universe have been anywhere near top 10.
-
Good god MFC fans over rate kids.... Barry was predicited to be drafted anywhere from 40+ to rookie listed due to being very soft, not getting alot of the ball and struggling to impact games on a consistent basis. Yet you compare to him to a former pick 4 young star like Stephen Hill who tore juniors up?? Barry has some potential and could be a good player, or be very average like JB is for us. Either way he has shown nothing to even remotely compare him to Stephen Hill other than being fast and not a white guy I am not attacking just you.... but every kid that ever comes to MFC gets touted to be this amazing star and compared to some established player. Bennel was going to be Mcleod. Morton looked like Goddard. Watts was Riewoldt 2. Gysberts played like Pendlebury. Tapscott is the next Chapman. The list goes on and on and on and on and on.

Wasn't training... Training doesn't start until the 29th I believe. These are just photos of a couple of the guys who have come down a bit earlier to get a feel for it.

I know a fair bit about Taggert. He has most certainly got bigger but was always quite a big mid, I was shocked by his size at Casey last year - looked like he had lost weight since joining the AFL. The guy isn't fast but has great breakaway pace which I believe is something we are really lacking ... Hence why I am shattered we won't be able to draft Toumpas. Agree with the sentiments of a few above, Taggert is like an extra draft pick going into next year, I am expecting him to make an earlyish debut.

Would like Banfield and a late pick swap

Round 1, 2013 Melbourne v Port Adelaide @ MCG

Good lord.... So whipped. -
Moloney was always a one trick pony who never chased opponents, never had good disposal and never imposed his large frame in the correct way. Many posters were calling that he wouldn't last long in the MFC side 2 years ago, hence why many posters didn't rate him as a potential captain.

No need to spruik about being at games live, im pretty certain most regular posters on demonland hit most, if not all games during the year. First off, Howe is not a clearance player. So we can't judge him on that one specific aspect of midfield play. What Howe does do is chase, go third up in ruck situations, is roughly 8 times out of 10 a winner in 1 on 1 situations, has pace and makes good decisions. The only knock I would have on Howe would be his disposal efficiency, his kicking style is quite odd. However this is not so extreme that I would claim him to be ineffective.
-
Look I appreciate that you have put some thought into this and well done on that front.... But Howe and Trengove are walk up easily in 2013, 2014, 2015 etc.
-
Howe wasn't that effective this year? Tell'em he's dreamin....

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRIS DAWES

He can pinch hit, but that's about it. -
Lets face it, whoever we get... Be it Wines, O'Rourke, Grundy, Mayes, Stringer or any other kid. We will all be a lil shattered that we didn't get Toumpas.
-
Actually.... I am right. There is more to a footballer player than a highlights package. Clearly watching these players over multiple games you would see that Wines is a tough, smart young player with the potential to be a top inside mid. While Toumpas is a game breaker, he can burst from packs, kick goals, and impact the game with less possessions. I have seen someone mention Wines being like Matthew Boyd, who is a gun player. Looking at Bulldogs players, I would say Toumpas is similar to Ryan Griffen, who in my opinion is a genuine star when fit and at his best. Considering we will have Viney, Jones, Mckenzie and Trengove.... A player like Ryan Griffen at his best would really compliment the hard edge.
-
I actually agree....
-
We were soooo slow and boring this year.... Being a "tough" side requires a possibility of dangerous, fast, goal kicking mids to compliment the toughness. Hawks: Rioli, Whitecross, Suckling, Burgoyne, Shiels, Smith. Swans: Jetta, Goodes, Jack, Shaw.
-
Toumpass is the dream.... I am simply not buying into Wines. He would be great if we didn't already have multiple one paced mids. Jones, Viney, Trengove, Mckenzie, Magner. Plus Grimes who has class but lacks genuine pace. Adding Wines over does it for mine, our side is desperate for pace and game winning ability. Other than Blease and occassionally Sylvia we don't have any real game breakers... Wines is not a game breaker, he is a workman like midfielder... A better version of Mckenzie/Magner.

How can you possibly leave Sam Mayes out? He is a sure fire top 5 pick. He has everything we cry out for.... Speed, elite kicking skills (best in this draft) and x factor.
