A pass mark for 2021 for Goodwin is top 8. Realistically he won’t be there in 2022 if we don’t make finals. I do think though we need to win a final and show a competitiveness in finals.

So 7 news Adelaide said Burgess was in the mix to go to Crows. They better sort this out soon. Don’t the 1-4 year players start pre season next week?

I was initially not sold on getting Brown. However came around to it reasonably quickly. He will straighten us up and allow Weideman to get the second defender. Hopefully his experience in setting up the forward line will help us. I’ll be annoyed if round one we see three key forwards jumping for the same ball every time. The value we extracted from this trade is amazing. Never thought we’d get him this cheap. Similar if not better value then Bruce and Schache trades.

Lewis Jetta would be worth a chat. Pace and skills on a wing or back flank. But yep. Probably depends how keen he is on a move to vic to carry on his career.

I would like to have kept Hannan. He has speed and some tricks. Can’t see us getting much back in a trade.

I’m with you. I’m not overly sold on Brown but see why the club is going for him. He could pair well with Weideman and leave Weideman with the second defender. And yes Goodwin and Mahoney have jobs on the line so will want to recruit a mature key forward.

If we think he can become a forward hitting the scoreboard and applying pressure he could be a cheap get. Especially if Hannan and maybe one of ANB or Bedford go.

3 years will mean he’ll be 34 heading into his last season. If 3 years is what it takes then perhaps that’s what we do. He has pace so when he does slow down he will still likely be somewhat quick. And I doubt he’ll be asking for huge dollars on a 3 year deal. Will bring experience and a fair amount of knowledge of what it takes.

Apparently on a truck load of money as the contract goes on. Back ended and pies maybe looking to invest in a key forward. Not many win a flag without a key forward.

Surely if Collingwood let’s Treloar go it’s for a key forward. Merrett has better skills but not necessarily an overall upgrade on Treloar.

I have only really heard Barrett say we’re after Brown. Has anyone else linked us to him? Would make sense that we move Tmac on if we get Brown.

If Mahoney can turn Preuss and 23 into pick 9 he is a genius. We’ll be lucky if we get a pick inside 30.

I remember when we drafted him. A few doggies fans were annoyed we got in before them. Haven’t heard any rumours re Hannan to dogs.

It’ll probably land on giants pick 39. But given Preuss is contracted I suspect and hope we’ll ask for more. Supposedly on 400k or so. So we’ll get that off our books.

Not the worst idea as a DFA should we trade Preuss.

Yep my original post suggested flipping a late pick to saints for him. And yeah you could get for nothing as a DFA perhaps.

No way we’d get Witherden for the same pick we’d get Savage. Witherden younger and better. Of course if we had a choice it’d be Witherden every day of the week.

I don’t think we have many of his type. Outside runner. I wouldn’t think he’d be asking much and I’d only do it if it was for a late pick.

How about flipping a late pick for Shane Savage? Could help in a wing or half back allowing Salem or Rivers to a wing. Savage is out of contract and apparently on the move.

Great to see Viney re sign. Great to see the loyalty and that he has taken the whole losing captaincy saga and got on with it. 5 years probably means he has taken less $.

It’s a really good listen. Would have been good if he stuck around. But could also see him stepping in to help another struggling club at some point. Well maybe he wouldn’t be keen but could certainly do it. He speaks a lot of sense and particularly around the rebuilding of our club. It was never going to be a quick fix.

Pretty excited by the Yze retuning call. Leppitsch would be a great get to.

Is our game plan any good? No. Do we have a good coach? No. Things can turnaround but I don’t see Brown being a good get. We’ll have to give up a first. I think if we go for him it’ll be because Goodwin and Mahoney are desperate to make finals. Yes he has kicked a lot of goals. But personally not a fan of getting him.

I would be a fan of going after Ronke. Fills a need and has played well at the level. Couldn’t crack it for a game recently but I think he has something to offer.

Going by past history of back up ruck trades we’ll get a pick in the 40s for Preuss alone. Maybe we could get a fringe player chucked in like Zac Langdon who fits a need. Whether he gets a game is another question. FWIW I think Preuss will make a good number one ruck somewhere.
