  1. I literally said that from the very start.. So if Pickett doesn't kick a goal a game this year I think it's fair to say its another underwhelming season.
  2. Yeah, you realise we have Ben Brown, Viney, Brayshaw, Melksham and maybe Jetta to add into the team. That's 5/22 players that aren't quick. So don't worry, I'm not reading anything into a practice match. You should know better.
  3. I think Pickett will always be the guy with an amazing highlights package. But if there was a lowlights reel he would also have a very long one. I'm not getting sucked in to the highlights. I want at the very least a goal a game this year.
  4. Pickett came 14th and ANB not in the top 20. Not sure what youre getting at. I've always said ANB is being played out of position since his 2017/18 season anyway so....
  5. Wow, Balme and Gale. 2 guys that probably see about 5% of the games that I see. 2 guys that don't even know the club, make a comment about a practice match in Cranbourne that meant nothing. I think we are quicker, but we are still pretty slow. And for the record, T.Rivers showed a truck load more talent in his first season than Pickett. So it's got nothing to do with having unrealistic expectations on first year players. It's just that Pickett showed a lot of traits that I didn't like.
  6. I'd also put Kozzie in the team if he was fit. But that's because we're bloody slow and we need his speed. He sure as hell isn't going to help us kick a score though. He spends more time slipping over than keeping his feet. Your argument for the 11th and 13th in the best and fairest makes literally no sense. He played more games because he earnt his spot in the team. An 11th and 13th finish is an 11th and 13th finish, there's no other factors to go into it. Games played isn't a factor. Because the more games you played the more it highlights how important he was to the team in those years. So let me know when Kozzie finishes 11th and 13th ok
  7. LOL. In 2017, he came 11th in the best and fairest and in 2018 he came 13th. So considering all of these flaws that you say, the club internally rated him highly. So who is right? You or the experts at the club? Unless he has had a dramatic fall off in form during the peak of his career. I rest my case really. I'm not sure what you see in Kozzy. Did you not see how he slips over at every contest? And his kicking for goal has been dreadful. I actually think he will be a decent enough player because he offers speed but other than speed I've seen no goal sense or an ability to slow down and have composure. Come back to me when Kozzie has 2x best and fairest finishes as high as 11th and 13th. At this stage, he's purely untapped potential.
  8. I disagree. I've never understood the criticism of ANB. he is hard, moves well, decent enough disposals and his decision making is ok. he also hits the scoreboard. There's a lot of players I criticise but ANB has never been one of them. His form in 2017 showed me that he has already succeeded as an afl mid. He basically got moved out on to a flank since then. Hunt got a 2 year extension because we were the slowest team in the comp. Not that hard to figure out really.
  9. Yeah I hear what you're saying. I just feel that just because a player is quick it doesn't mean he applies forward pressure. I don't remember too many times where Pickett caused direct turnovers by his forward pressure. maybe 1 play. And he is only as quick as he is when he is standing. When he goes to ground, which is far too often, he may as well as be mark Jamar because he offers no speed when going to ground. That's my main criticism. Also, I think his kicking needs improving. He drops the ball from inside to out far too extremely. He also kicks the belly of the ball too much when snapping for goal. This probably explains his awful goal to behind ratio. ANB is being played out of position so I'm not that critical. He is a midfielder, not a half forward. When played in the midfield he has a lot of upside. Hunt also has never been a forward. Sure he's had the odd good game there but his best season has been as a defender and he really needed to stay there.
  10. wait, already performed well? he's kicked 7 goals in 14 games. At this stage, he is unproven. Until he kicks at least a goal a game then I will start paying attention.
  11. I beg to differ. Well i don't know what people said here but suggesting a guy to be delisted who ends up becoming multiple Bnf winner and one of the clubs greats probably just highlights peoples knowledge of football. Jones was good from the start and Dunn also. I remember seeing his first game too. Salem has never been bad since taking the field.
  12. yeah. if. he was shown to be consistently unreliable in front of goal. i'd love to be proven wrong.
  13. I think most of the time you can tell if they are up to the speed pretty quickly. Oliver was good immediately, as was Viney, Scott Thompson, Salem, Dunn, Jones, Frawley, and guys like Morton, Watts, Toumpas, Bate, Strauss, Blease never really were. So I hope Pickett shows a lot more improvement in year 2.
  14. We traded a first round pick to get him so I think expectations are justified. I've seen more from Bowey and Laurie in a afl reserves pricey match.
  15. 100% agree. I found Pickett underwhelming last year. Falls over for no reason and puts himself out of the contest. 7 goals in 14 games simply isn't enough in anyones language. He was also wasteful in front of goals.
  16. I think it's hard to say because ruckman aren't needed in this day and age. The tigers have shown this. Because of this I still rate Yze, Neitz, Davey, Jeff Farmer, Schwartz, Robbo, Lyon, Schwartz, Oliver ahead of him.
  17. That would be AMAZING! I definitely am going to miss it :(
  18. Tom McDonald and Kozzie Pickett as whipping boys for me.
  19. would anyone care here if Laurie and Bowey played round 1 ahead of melksham, hibberd, Jetta etc?
  20. what's the logic there? the 5th of March is still 5-6 days away from a possible Saturday/sunday game and teams can play whichever players they want for any amount of game time for rest purposes so I don't think the logic is right in this instance.
  21. We took Jackson because he was best available and he was life after Gawn. That's it. He wasn't drafted to play forward. But we've put him there to help with his development. He is a ruckman through and through.
  22. Jackson is a ruck. not a forward. Has his 3 goals on 6 games been enough to prove to you that Jackson is going to be a star forward? lol
  23. yeah let's take our AA ruckman and move him to the forward line where he can kick behinds with his shocking kick for goal. brilliant.
  24. The website and media stuff has never been the same since Burgo left. He is the only one that really knew what people wanted to see. Pics and interviews with the new draftees, details on when the intraclub would be, photos galore. A shame it's fallen apart since he left.
