  1. we all know what half a brain Goodwin will do. But what should we do is a completely different story.
  2. Good post. I haven't seen enough from Jackson to suggest that he has goal kicking nous so I would play Petty before him who has more exposed form (which is 1 good game but he looked more natural than Jackson). Fritsch as the third tall. I'd keep Petracca as a mid. He kicks just as many goals as a midfielder anyway. If Kozzie isn't right then I'd look for a Bailey Laurie to come in. Throw in Spargo on another pocket and I'd give Melksham a go for experience. HF: Fritsch Mcdonald Melksham FF. Laurie Petty Spargo
  3. true. but he didn't have this criticism in his good 2018 year.
  4. that's what happens when you play an inside mid on the outside.
  5. I'm so sick of Angus Brayshaw and training reports. He hasn't put on much muscle tone in about 3 years and I don't know why he hasn't pushed harder to play as an inside mid. He seems very content with just being a so-so player on the outside. I sort of hope he secretly requests a trade to a club that gives him the opportunity. Otherwise, what are we seriously doing here.
  6. when is our intra club match? Can't seem to find any info about anything these days. I feel that our media guy has dropped the ball a bit for a while now.
  7. you're probably the guy that thought OJ was innocent. I mean seriously, what were you watching.
  8. yeah. no. Yze was a great player but he's the icing on the top of the cake sort of player. not the cake.
  9. dude. you've lost the plot. top 4? how about making finals first. I see a 10-13 season coming with Goodwin at the helm
  10. Petty is actually a forward. but goodwin sees him as a defender. If Goodwin had a brain he'd move Petty forward now but he won't because he's literally the worst coach of the modern era
  11. Some people here have lost their marbles. You think Goodwin waits until draft day to say 'oh guys, what are you doing, I don't want 2 mids under 6 feet'. Lol. You're kidding yourselves. Goodwin would say at the start of the year of the traits in a player that he likes and maybe some areas that his team has hole in. And the recruiters would weigh all of this up when selecting a player but the buck stops with the recruiters. Goodwin literally says in the video that he hasn't seen one of the players play. Yet people think Goodwin is grossly unhappy with the picks. Lol, what has humanity come to. The recruiters do this full time. They interview them, test them, re-interview, re-test. They suss out their character from all angles. And Jason Taylor is a no nonsense guy. He wouldn't pick any player if they were timid. I 100% trust his judgment.
  12. no idea what you guys are on about. Goodwin openly said that he hadn't seen Jack Carroll even play. At no point did he even mention anything about wanting a certain player or not wanting a certain player. But if your'e the head coach I think it's fair enough to want to be 'in the discussion' when your club is making it's biggest decision of the year. I hate Goodwin more than anyone but he's done nothing wrong here. You do get a snapshot of what Goodwin is like though. How does this guy motivate anyone to play afl football? The answer is..he doesn't.
  13. we don't even know how many players will be used. a bit hard to predict a line up. also, who really cares. There's a few guys with niggles etc. which means they may or may not play. All I care about is the new draftees, no-one else.
  14. I love how all of last year everyone was canning Spargo for not being up to AFL standard i.e. 'He is too slow, can't kick 40m etc.' and now everyone is praising him for being a player that has a lot to offer and was a top 10 pick that slid due to injuries. lol. For the record, I've never talked trash about Spargo. Yes, he isn't quick but I'd much prefer someone with goal kicking nous than someone who is quick and who doesn't have goal kicking nous.
  15. Don't get me wrong, I obviously hope for improvement but a lot of those players have regressed in their careers. they aren't 2nd or 3rd year players. I'm really excited about Trent Rivers and I'm really excited about Luke Jackson, although he is going to be wasted as a forward as he is a natural ruck. Petty, I'm really excited about but he is better as a forward than a defender. I acknowledge that it's only a small sample size but as a defender he looked nervous and made poor decisions. Up forward he looked great. So I see it as a shame that he isn't training as a forward. I put this down to Goodwin not being a great coach and the recruitment of Ben Brown. But Petty is still a forward. Salem has been at the same level for years. He is a really good player that doesn't quite get enough of the ball for my liking. He was a midfielder at the Sandringham dragons and we recruited him to play midfield but he is still just a back flanker. So I don't see how he will improve unless he adds a string to his bow and plays midfield. Hunt is an enigma. I actually like Hunt. But I don't (and never have liked him forward). And as a rule of thumb, if you're not a good kick for goal you shouldn't be played forward. Momentum is too big in todays game. Fritsch is a great player but he has consistently shown to let us down in front of goals. I like his kicking action and I believe its mostly mental at this stage so I do give him a chance to improve. Gus Brayshaw has had a limited pre-season and he is simply too slow to play any position other than inside mid. Goodwin seems to not understand this simple concept. If he plays as a full time inside mid then he has every chance to return back to his best otherwise, he is going to have another so-so season where he can't defend on the transition. Tom McDonald I think can have a big year. But it's typical of Goodwin to entertain the idea of playing him anywhere other than forward. He has built a reputation for many years as being a poor decision maker and poor user of the ball in defence. A clanger happy defender like Oscar. Up forward, his decision making is simplified. Get ball, kick for goal. This is where he is at his best.
  16. I would argue that the 2020 underperformance shows that all of the excuses that were offered up for 2019 were BS. I'm skeptical as to where the improvement will come from. We still have Goodwin. And of the kids you mentioned Rivers and Jackson are the only ones who have shown they are AFL standard. You could argue Pickett but I thought he struggled last season. Even if you include Pickett, that's 3 players that we're pinning our hopes of improvement on. All whilst having Goodwin still as coach.
  17. we were going to under perform with brown so will definitely under perform without him. Whilst Goodwin is there, we aren't getting any better. People should see that by now.
  18. hopefully the club stops coughing up first round picks but I'm not as negative as others. It just means that Tom McDonald must get back to 2018 form. If he does, we will do well, if not... it's another 9-12 season with no improvement. unless we sack Goodwin early.
  19. I know the agenda behind the post but to suggest that James Strauss and Blease were the most impressive PS trainers you've ever seen suggests that you were just plucking out 2 names in order to antagonise. The main reason why Blease failed was because his tank was so bad that he couldn't play up the ground.
  20. what I want to see is: - how Luke Jackson plays up forward and in the ruck (when chopping out) - Where Tom McDonald is played. (hoping its either forward or not selected). The last thing I want is Tom McDonald played up the field making decisions. God help us. - Bowey/Laurie/Rosman: if selected, how is their form and where are they played. - Where Harmes is played. (hopefully in the middle). - Growth from T.Rivers. - How Ben Brown operates in the forward line and whether it straightens us up.
  21. lets be real here. No-one really knows what they're talking about. Everyone is just taking a calculated guess. i.e Petracca should be in because he had a good season. Or Gawn is a bad captain because we came 9th again. None of this is scientific. There's a lot more factors to consider. Who says that the stereotypical alpha male Steven May style is the best leadership style to lead the group? Maybe the players would respond better to someone who is a soft spoken student of the game like Adam Tomlinson? Who really knows. For all we know Fritsch and Weideman could be the best leaders. So we need to define whether to be in the leadership you have to be a top 10 player at the club.
  22. All good points. But Tom McDonald belongs nowhere other than the forward line. He is a terrible decision maker and can't execute under pressure. This has already been proven after years in the backline.
  23. Thanks for the report! so who is swallow?
