  1. best midfielder we've had in 30 years. if he calls that "dime a dozen" then I can't help him :)
  2. he just needs to learn a few things. his errors are usually costly. Like when one of the gws players had the ball on the boundary line he ran at them too quickly and it resulted in him being side stepped and an easy goal. When all he needed to do was corral the gws player to the boundary line and make him make a decision. This is the small stuff that he needs to work on.
  3. why rest forward. He can't kick straight for goal.
  4. Mahoney isn't even at the Mfc anymore. How about we sought out Oliver first :)
  5. Oliver: An immature performance. Pickett: Proving me wrong. Mcdonald: Lost at sea. Spargo: Good despite miss. Rivers: lacks defensive iq * a bit harsh but a lot of his mistakes are costly.
  6. 6 Gawn 5 Pickett 4 Hunt 3 Langdon 2 Lever 1 Tomlinson
  7. I think the bombers smashing of stkilda last night showed that our win last week maybe wasnt as good as we thought.
  8. I agree with what you're saying entirely. But the only reason I'm saying it is because people are saying 'definitively after only 8 games' that he is a star. And I have to bring the hype down because I'm tired of overhyping players because we have a long history of first rounders turning into busts.
  9. are we at a point now that we can concede that Dr. was correct saying that Jackson isn't a natural forward? He's now kicked 3 goals in 8 games playing solely fwd with brief stints in the ruck. (For the record, Logan Mcdonald has kicked 5 in 2 games)
  10. Nah apparently he handballs too much and isn't effective. Apparently, he is also not worth anything over 800k. literally our best midfielder we've had in 50 years.
  11. by far his best game and I'm glad to finally see him convert and apply better pressure around the ground. Credit where credit is due, he improved in a lot of these facets of the game in this game. I definitely haven't seen this sort of performance in him until now so lets hope he backs it up. Another game where Jackson has shown not to be a forward though. So im still correct on that front.
  12. saints by 5 goals. we don't have the small defenders to handle Lonie, Higgins, Butler etc.
  13. 100% agree. Brayshaw is an inside mid and that's where he needs to play. I'm not surprised Goodwin is playing him on the outside though because Goodwin has no idea about football and I can't wait until he is gone.
  14. I have to be just to keep everyone grounded because a lot of supporters can't see the forest for the trees and are blinded by their bias. I for one, think Jackson can become a good player in the future. But only as a ruckman. He isn't a forward and has never shown any forward craft.
  15. The fact that people call Jackson a star after doing nothing. Then what is Logan Mcdonald... a superstar? This is a sad and repeated story that has existed for decades with our fans. Hyping up our own youngsters only for them not to turn into anything. Bate, Tapscott, Strauss, Watts, Toumpas, Gysberts, etc. there's no doubt that people hyped up all of these players when they started out their careers.
  16. harmes, brayshaw, viney, sparrow, jones, Jordon, Vandenberg. We can't carry too many of these guys with the game being so quick. Out: Sparrow, Jackson. In: Viney, Petty
  17. I'd say he is the most important player. I personally have always questioned the influence of ruckmen. A lot of premiership teams have had no decent ruckman. And petracca has had 1 good season whereas Oliver has had several. he is also a far better clearance player.
  18. what world do you live in that thinks we would get an early 2nd or late first for Harmes. Good grief
  19. 6- May 5- Lever 4- Oliver 3- Langdon 2- Mcdonald (missed shot in the 3rd cost him 2 votes. costly miss) 1- Tomlinson (underrated game)
  20. you make a good point. I agree with most of your points. but the reason is because our forward line is shocking. Tom Mcdonald played super well but his missed shot on goal in the 3rd quarter changed the momentum of the game and almost cost us. He isn't the dead-eye he used to be. Jackson has proven that he isn't a natural forward and only averages 0.5 goals per game over his career. He was just a pulse in a jumper for the first 3 quarters. Fritsch is good but a wasteful set shot. And spargo and Pickett don't hit the scoreboard too much. So to answer your question. I don't think it's to do with melksham per se but moreso who is currently in the team.
  21. Here we go again. overuse of the word 'stars'. Jackson has 4 goals from 8 games playing as a forward and Pickett needs to fumble less, he has no composure.
  22. the club will never win a flag with a multiple AA midfielder under 25. sound logic mate. Not everyone is a leader mate, hence the term leader.
  23. did you watch the first 3 quarters? Logan Mcdonald from Sydney has already played better in his first game than Jackson has a forward. Fact.
  24. whatever he asks for he gets. He has shown more than Petracca over a longer period of time. Multiple All-australians and multiple best and fairests. Whilst petracca has the forward craft, petracca doesn't have the clearance work that Oliver has. Oliver is quite possibly the best midfielder the Mfc has ever had. Can this be denied? If not, then he is definitely in the mix. On average 50% of first rounders fail. so the odds that we get a player as good as Oliver with 2 first rounders is next to zero.
  25. oh did jackson play well did he? played a pretty average game by most unbiased supporters opinion
