I hear what you're saying. I won't go into the stats because I reckon Tom got a lot of ball in the back half, not necessarily the back 50m. But none the less, Tom has kicked 6 goals in 5 games (and 1 one his goals, he ripped from Jackson are potentially cost us a goal by getting it touched). But alas 6 in 5 games: It's not bad, but it's not great. I agree that Ben Brown and TMac can't be in the same forward line. What makes TMac valuable is his kicking for goal. I don't really like him roaming up the field. He is a see ball, mark ball, kick goal sort of player. I want his marks to be inside 50m or nowhere at all. And we've shown this year to be horrific in front of goal which makes accurate goal kickers more valuable. But Ben Brown is basically an accurate TMac but one that plays closer to goal. Also, finals is far from guaranteed. We're heading in the right direction but last year showed how we can capitulate.

correct. if he's fit he walks in. But he isn't so he won't.

Gawn - career best form Oliver - beat Tom Mitchell McDonald - Accuracy is treasured Salem - ever so reliable Petracca - continues hitting scoreboard. Pickett - reaching new heights Jackson - Good when rucking Lever - Repaying hefty contract Langdon - current AA wingman Rivers - involved but wasteful Hibberd - great individual play Viney - Viney was viney Brayshaw - preferring him back Tomlinson - a surprise improver Brown - goal accuracy cherished Jordon - just floating around Melksham - efficient around goals Neal- Bullen - proving demonlanders wrong ;) Hunt - Justifying Dr.D's loyalty ;) Spargo - Quiet but harassed Petty - Prefer him forward Jones - An unforgivable miss

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LUKE JACKSON
Dr.D replied to Lord Nev's topic in Melbourne Demons
are people finally willing to concede that I was right on Jackson not being a forward? I love how I got shot down for saying Jackson isn't a forward. He's kicked 1 goal in 5 games. I repeat 1 in 5 games. Is he a good player? yes. Is his role important for Gawn? Yes. Is he going to be a great ruckman? yes. Is he a forward? Clearly not. Thanks for proving me right. Yet again. -
Dude, May was out for 2-4 weeks. Try again

Tom Mcdonald isn't going to be apart of our future mate. Like I said, he has been playing well so credit to him. I don't read too much into stats. He had 22 touches but a lot of them were in the backline. So I'd prefer to have Ben Brown who is a bigger target inside 50m to straighten us up. Weideman also comes in after kicking 7.
-
I think people know that my answer will be 'No'. The club broke my trust mostly in 2019 and 2020. We had no excuses for not playing finals. And really no excuses for not playing top 4 with our list.
-
was he? He has named 6th best in the official match report and I think that's accurate. I was also at the game. So don't exaggerate it by saying top 3. He played well. But like I said, tough calls have to be made.
-
I think we have to give Jones his 300th. There's no guarantees in footy and it would be a travesty if Jones didn't get his 300th and then he ends up doing a hamstring during training or something. Jones will def play, even if his form doesn't deserve it. His missed shot at goal was potentially match losing. In: Weideman, Ben Brown Out: T.Mcdonald, M.Brown Tough calls need to be made.
-
great player but he's ducking and playing for high free kicks is a big part of how he will be remembered by a lot of fans.
-
lets not talk like we've done something. we've made the finals once in 15 years. good grief.
-
needs to improve his decision making
-
can people start calling James Jordon by his correct name. It's Jordon not Jordan. Thanks
-
why would Jordon only be given 56% game time. That's crazy. If you're going to limit him to such low minutes it just throws extra strain on 21 other players. Play him at least 75% or play him in the vfl
-
I definitely don't want him traded but people shouldn't minimise how costly his misses have been the last few years. He has consistently and reliably squandered shots in front of goal. One game doesn't change this. And the momentum we lose in games each time he misses gettable goals is frustrating.

1 goal in 4 games. if he was 28 we'd be saying he needs to get dropped. Pedersen used to do this role but kicked his 2 goals a game at the same time. Just saying some truth bombs. -
I may have got the year wrong but my evaluation of Hunt surely gets added to the long list of things I've been right about? Where are all of those people now? come and say hi.

As I've pointed out successfully in pre-season. he isn't a forward. I think 1 goal in 4 weeks and barely any shots on goal proves this once and for all. His role is important for Gawn to get breaks though and when he goes into the ruck he is good at ground level. -
6. Langdon. Offered vital run all day and kicked an important goal. 5. Gawn. 4. Petracca 3. Oliver. 2. Viney 1. Salem. Won some big 1 on 1's.
-
are we really ignoring the fact that we've been playing pretty ordinary football? We were very poor against free, we were average against stkillda who've showed that they aren't half the team of last season and we took 3.5 quarters to shake off a depleted gws. concerning.
-
It's defeatist because setting blocks etc. is plan B, not plan A! Plan A is attack the game, hunt the football. He basically was like 'ok, I'm not getting the football today, I'm going to block for petracca'. Yes, its the team thing, but Oliver is also our best clearance player! What would DeBoer be thinking when Oliver started doing this? Fantastic, my job is done and I didn't even have to work for it. That's why it was defeatist. It's like Buddy Franklin having Harris Andrews on him and him deciding 'meh, I'm not gonna be dangerous today boys, I'll be the decoy lead to the pocket'.
-
he didn't handle the tag with a maturity that I expected. After 5 mins he had already conceded that he wasn't going to get the ball and started setting blocks for petracca. It was a very defeatist mindset

Caro: Are the Demons the Real Deal in 2021?
Dr.D replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
getting way ahead of ourselves. we looked average against the dockers and average against gws until the last 15 mins.
