Do players then have a lack of respect for the organisation, or the then individuals in the organisation?
-
Why the reservation? Tom is great one on one, he'll either mark it or halve the contest and create crumbing opportunities. I think it would and could be a real long term prospect should the coaching staff pursue it...

Beyond our teams list, I think (hope) what holds us in good stead for recruiting/trading for one or two guns for 2018 are the types of wins against Adelaide. Surely in discussion with agents, this is used as leverage as to why we would be now a destination club. We have good depth, and I imagine for some players who would ONLY be depth, perhaps there would be a reluctance to battle it out to get a cemented spot, however someone who would be classified as a certainty (insert names here) surely would feel as though they would compliment the rest of the list on their rampage towards multiple premierships.

I firmly believe that we are a top four proposition on talent and consistency. We've been in every game in the ones that we have lost, we've come back from poor starts, and whilst we've had lapses that frustrates, the season is so so even, that we could miss the 8, we could comfortably be top 4 and even top 2 (as perverse at that sounds). God its good to be passionate again and not apathetic.

love it @binman

wining games is an output of cultural change, not an input. It's been changing for a long time. There never has been or never will be 'line in the sand game' - they're simply narratives that make us feel good, or help us make sense of why things changed. It's purely about process process process...

harsh marker there pick... I think both are serviceable given more time...and it is now a luxury that we have 5-7 players that can rotate through the 20-22 mix.

TMac... I saw someone flagged a Reiwoldt like endurance (the N, not the J) ... I quite like TMAC defensively in all aspects aside from kicking... but jeez, could it be a long term proposition?

Yeah I have, I just got back from os today - and have seen only the 3rd qrt - the rest of the game won't load... so so disappointing

Brief(-ish) moments of being switched off during games

Perhaps they need a psychologist Perhaps they need a new psychologist Perhaps the players could hold themselves accountable to their behaviours, not just when they feel 'good' 'on' 'up for it' -
Brief(-ish) moments of being switched off during games

@davo, great point! Mind, Goodwin himself will be hard pressed to put one extra game of experience in to each player he chooses to play per round I think... -
Just putting it out there... we are 2 games from second (or sixth), we have had opportunity to win ALL games, vs the last decade of never being in games. Clearly, the team struggles to put four full quarters together (letting teams get leads, squandering our own). Personnel will change, attrition will happen. As disappointing as it is to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory - I for one, STILL see an upwards trajectory. Oh and JKH, how I wanted you to achieve But it will be Casey I believe I was hoping you'd be a devil You're just not quite at AFL level

The Petracca v McCartin debate reprised

Correct. @Ethan Tremblay but mind yourself, if someones got a medical condition, you can't say anything untoward... -
The Petracca v McCartin debate reprised
Engorged Onion replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I love this thread... its about Cale now... I was expecting a comment about McCartin's report in the VFL - but we can let it go through to the keeper... CP5 is CaleV2.0? (new AND improved of course, not that things can be new AND improved). -
Mmm, this is true - and this is not about Nic himself, but I really think the recruitment team picked the better player that year... Watts is as laconic as Mark Waugh was, doesn't show urgency (nor does he need to) and has played better for longer in his position(s). onwards and upwards for Jack.

Was just thinking the same thing @Chook

TEAM SELECTION AND MATCH PREVIEW - ROUND SEVEN
Engorged Onion replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Does this now finally debunk the bull[censored] myth that Goodwin plays favourites? Eff me dead that narrative was/is tedious. -
