  1. Lets be honest, the Roos list turnover is not complete. Upgrading the bottom 6 for another year in October before adding an elite mid next year (whos avail free agency?) after we've seen another year of our rising stars is likely imo, aside from upgrading defence with Lever.
  2. Do we know if any elite players will become available next year via free agency and contracts ending because it might be the case that one or two on your list will not continue on their current trajectory and command big dollars in 1 or 2 years. This means next year we'll have a more accurate assessment of how much money to offer an out of contract mid from another club. Imo, our list flush has not ended from Roos era. We still need to upgrade our bottom 6 and give a little more time to our core group and midfield to find out who is long term, who deserves big dollars and who is trade bait.
  3. Geelong at Simonds? I made the joke (1v4 variant) a few weeks ago after our Port win in regards to the AFL [censored] us over often, but this would be a bridge too far.
  4. As of round 19, the answer to what Essendon would do after a year out of the game appears answered: Dislodge Stk/Melb/Coll from 9-10-11 10 MELBMelbourne 19 10 9 0 104.8 40 11 STKSt Kilda 19 10 9 0 97.3 40 12 COLLCollingwood 19 8 10 1 100.2 34 As bruce would say, "the old firm hey" - Together again.
  5. They'll go First next week, if they hold on and Win next week and results fall their way.
  6. We'll need someone to thump Eric Hipwood to do that. Our last regular season Tall KPF Giraffe to have to deal with.
  7. With the benefit of hindsight, our 2000 defence looks woefully inadequate. Our mid and fwd firepower did most of the lifting that year and the defence didnt really have to do much... until the final game.
  8. Good resuly! Happy for the winner of next week to have a strong chance of making the 8. Maybe thats me having a stk family member showing. But its far better that 1 of these clubs gets a shot above boring wce, ess and dogs. Its round 1 all over again. Beating st k wasnt the end of our rivalry. Stk deserve a rematch against us and we deserve to show r1 wasnt a fluke. Any fan of great footy sees better potential for a great elimination final football game now, with the saints in contention.
  9. I still think the Dons are due for a soul crushing failure against GC or Freo.
  10. Would trading Tyson or Watts if his next month is awful, allow us to not have to use a 1st round pick on Lever? ie Player + 2nd round pick this year and next ?
  11. Maybe we should just play a 22 game series vs North every year, if that's our measure of worth.
  12. How did Adelaide? Combination of many factors. We've had a poor stretch of form as did Adelaide, but it can be turned around and we've now got a decent enough fixture to make an attempt - And if we can turn it around then the question of what we can do in the finals will have changed.
  13. It might very well be the case that the seasons is done for us, we at least get home ground back on our side and we're not playing 1st and 2nd at an oval we never play on, but St K Bris and Coll who we've beaten already this year and are winnable games if we can get some early confidence in next weeks game with a big start and attack the ball as hard as we've done all year. + North are 17th for a reason, they don't win back to back games. No point comparing us to their game. Haven't Collingwood got the wood over Geelong too? And yet we have the wood over Collingwood. A lot can change in a week or two.
  14. We sneak in and a few things fall our way and we have a big final. Who knows what confidence we'll get from that the following week/s (and next year) - you're implying a losing big time, i'm not. We have 3 big games at our Home that are winnable. The footy landscape can change drastically in a month. Look at how Port were percieved after their loss to us two weeks ago, all they have to do is win a few their remaining games with some hard work and good fortune, and they get a final against Adelaide. That's 1 game they can roll the dice on with an all or nothing effort. Home prelim if the chips fall their way.
  15. The season is over? Absurd responses. GWS are undefeated at Manuka in the last two years and sit second on the ladder. A poor performance, yes. But we're back at the MCG with 3 chances against teams below us and we're away from shitty suburban backwater local footy stadiums. We should all come out to the G and fire up the team with some noise, so they have a massive start against St Kilda. Big Crowd, Big atmosphere, big energy to be gained from a good start that can propell us into the finals. A little confidence wouldn't go astray. Who knows, maybe we'll get lucky with a few injuries or poor form from a team that finishes 5th or 6th, if we can sneak in.
  16. Out: Terrible suburban local footy ovals In: Home of Footy
  17. 2 GWSGWS Giants Up 19 12 5 2 1836 1592 115.3 DLLWW WB 52 + Have GWS even lost a game in the last two seasons when they've hit their peak at Manuka? No. ^ Maybe stop with the woe-is-us and buller meme garbage.
  18. I thought defence was only true in fairy tales meant for some other club but not for us. KPF's were out to get us. That's the way it seemed. Disappointment haunted all my dreams. Then I saw his highlights, and now i want Lever. Not a trace of doubt in my mind. I'm in love, now I want Lever! I couldn't leave him if I tried.
  19. The question should probably be reframed "What happens to Garland, if we get Lever" as Omac can now take over Garlands role next year.
  20. Perhaps the best way to 'neutralize' a gorilla forward is to just have your own one. TMAC has come on in that department, but Max will also start to come forward when he gets his match fitness and confidence up and bag 2 a week at some point in the future when Hogan holds position. Ben Brown, Daniher & Hipwood fall squarely in the hyperactive Giraffe category me thinks.
  21. Re 2 wins: If The Dogs & Hawks can't get into the 8 and we get 8th below Essendon, then it might work out better to play Port (5th) at Adelaide Oval THAN win 3 games and still end up below Sydney and playing at the SCG. Annoyingly. Edit: Let's just win all 4 and stitch up a home final!
  22. Maynard is huge for a midfielder from that video! Or will he spend some time back in defence as he looks like a defender next to Wagner? 1.90cm. Nice to have another taller-physique midfielder in there with Oliver.
  23. I don't know if you've used ladder predictor, but a loss this week (one of the hardest road trips in footy) and then winning the 3 remaning games still gets us 6th provided Syd lose to Geel & Adelaide, easily a 'significant progression' on last year.
