  1. I would've thought personal attacks on demonlanders that bob up with an idea (however outlandish), are more the domain of the schoolyard.
  2. I'm not pushing anything hard, i'm just stating a case as to why he might be a handy addition to the list at a cheap price (in only a few comments). There's 'seeing very little of someone' and then there's seeing a good qualities in a player over a 10 year span from the exposure one person gets from seeing a small selection of Essendon games per year. I'm not a recruiter that watches every player, and so i put it to the forum to find out seeing as though we've had long discussions on Zak Jones and finding an outside mid with pace. Edit: I guess we'll see towards the end of the year how much of an upgrade we need on our bottom 6 and whether they stand up over the next 3 months.
  3. Why did this become a CP discussion when we're looking for an outside mid that can break the lines and play wing and move into the middle at times? Oh because the thread was hijacked with a label (soft) But compare him to current players on our list and at the very least with his pace, he allows others to develop as injury depth for 2-3 years and is a marginal upgrade that comes at little cost with free agency. He's going to have 2 or 3 big games per year which I think is also an upgrade on our bottom 6. V Stretch http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_player_compare?playerStatus1=A&tid1=6&playerStatus2=A&tid2=12&type=A&pid1=3129&pid2=4069&fid1=S&fid2=S v Bugg http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_player_compare?playerStatus1=A&tid1=6&playerStatus2=A&tid2=12&type=A&pid1=3129&pid2=3772&fid1=S&fid2=S v Harmes http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_player_compare?playerStatus1=A&tid1=6&playerStatus2=A&tid2=12&type=A&pid1=3129&pid2=3981&fid1=S&fid2=S His stats line up closer to Dom Tyson: http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_player_compare?playerStatus1=A&tid1=6&playerStatus2=A&tid2=12&type=A&pid1=3129&pid2=3641&fid1=S&fid2=S
  4. I'm sure you've seen Zaharakis play over the years and play very well on occasion. I admit to not watching Essendon much this year and sparsely over the years (Why would I want to really?) - But I do recall that he has scintillating speed and even tore us a new one in our Salem-match winner game. "If he still has speed" pertains to whether he'd still be a fast line-breaker from the age of 28-31 if he was offered a three year incentivised contract
  5. Oh, you don't want to have a discussion and just want to state your opinion as fact?
  6. He averages 6 contested possessions per game and 4.2 tackles over his career. Doesn't sound like he's overly soft. Maybe on the scale of 0-Oliver he inlines that way.
  7. 27 year old that has yet to re-sign at the Bombers. Has some line breaking pace that could push him past Stretch, Bugg and others in the pecking order. Averages 21 disposals a game over his career and 23 this year. If he still has his pace, he seems like a decent upgrade and maybe could come due to the Goodwin factor. Much rather Zak Jones due to his massive upside, but if he stays in Sydney and speedy midfielders are sparse in the trade period, why not target Zaharakis? http://afltables.com/afl/stats/players/D/David_Zaharakis.html What does DL think?
  8. This makes sense. But this trade isn't about getting rid of our surplusses, but matching Adelaides needs. So they'd want a first round pick and a midfielder, or two? ANB? Edit: They'd probably ask for Tyson or Brayshaw if he gets on the park, and our second round pick?
  9. Nice analogy but i would say Wiedeman is currently a toasted sandwhich thats been cobbled together in 10 seconds rather than a filet steak with chips, and yes i'd be pretty envious of the lamb and mash over on the other table.
  10. Absolutely not, i have faith in our recruiting department and back them in 2015 to make the most informed decisions, but i couldn't help but be left scratching my head yesterday with how well Curnow had played and how he imposed himself on each contest while Weideman has been absolutely disappointing this year. These questions over his body shape and development don't cover his one-paced jogging and lack of effort to get to contests earlier in the year that had the whole forum in chorus about needing him in the VFL for the rest of the year as we were basically fielding 21 players with him in the side.
  11. Well if there's a gloating thread on crystal balling Petracca, it's only fair.
  12. Carlton young gun Charlie Curnow has been named the Round 16 NAB AFL Rising Star nominee. "Curnow played a key role in the Blues' eight-point loss to Melbourne over the weekend, recording 19 disposals, two goals and a game-high 10 score involvements." Why exactly have we drafted a kid at pick 9 that needs another 1 or 2 years to get an AFL body and impose himself on the game, who's position we have to have our best CHB (TMAC) to cover for the foreseeable future and look at drafting in Lever while Carlton have their draftee running around impacting yesterdays match who was taken at pick 12 ?
  13. Said this in the Lever thread. We recruit Lever and keep TMAC Forward. Recruiting Lever has nothing to do with replacing Omac or Frost, but Wiedeman not coming on for the foreseeable future. If Weideman comes on, then at worst, you've got tmac lever and frost with omac as depth. We do need defensive depth too. Garland is probably finished.
  14. TMac another dominant display forward today, Looks like he could be holding down that spot until the time Wiedeman is ready. Hence the desperate need for Lever and Frost down back. (Omac absolutely lost at sea down back today)
  15. One factor also was JJ having the body of a pre-pubescent teenager. He was rag-dolled from barely a shove. BTW Are we only discussing this in a new thread because we play Adelaide next week?
  16. They're only a few goals from the top 4. Never Give Up Tiges!!
  17. That's the unfortunate caveat to this dilemma, i might be in denial about just how much we can cover our injuries over the next two weeks. Our win against WCE had me sure then we'd make the top 4 quite easily and it's a tough thing to let go of now that injuries might be pulling us back to the pack.
  18. I'd rather the pressure on us to prove we're not run-of-the-mill with the reward of succeeding a spot in the top 4. Than hoping Richmond and Port win games against StK/WCE and we safely land in 7th or 8th.
  19. Well I Said 'most' - I just got the impression that Prestia sounded chuffed to just be an AFL List earlier in the year in his first Richmond interview. And did not sound like he was determined to become a superstar. He'd probably have been out drinking with Kent, Kennedy, JKH & Spencer last week if we'd recruited him (And our mids were not injured)
  20. I can see that Lever will shuffle around our defensive priorities, but what about the fact that TMAC has shown in the past month that we don't need a ruck/fwd or CHF as an imediate priority with Weideman 2 years away from being an effective CHF? Maybe LEVER is the insurance on Weidemann for the next 2 years as 1 of TMAC/FROST or OMAC will play forward ? If Weideman (God Forbid) ends up a dud, then we'd have a hole at CHF that would take TMAC away from our defence permanently. Assuming Pederson is 2 years from retirement. So recruiting Lever leaves our defence 1 player too tall, but it also allows our forward line 1 tall swingman forward. I don't have faith in Wiedeman and i dont have faith in recruiting Tippett. So recruit Lever and keep TMAC/PEDO forward. If Garland is depth this year, why can't Frost/Omac be a depth player that waits in the wings for an injury? Hogan,Watts, Pedo forward TMAC,LEVER & OMAC or FROST. Pedo goes down with injury and you move a defender back into the side and push tmac forward. OUr defensive stocks won't remain injury free next year now that this year they've been injury free. It's karma
  21. Also has anyone noticed that Richmond fans haven't acknowledged that we would've beaten them earlier in the year if not for injuries and that they think they're a premiership hope and not still around that 5-10 mark that will never go further this year? They've been the same team for 4 years.
  22. I don't think Prestia's that exceptional or intelligent a bloke from hearing his interviews, just sounded like an ordinary kid. Most up and coming stars are well spoken and sound like they're smart enough to know what is required to set themselves apart from the pack. Prestia is happy he's overrated as he probably deep down is only happy to be on an afl list and has the potential to make a career of it.
  23. Did he mean Omac made the team of the week? Or a rolling AA team on Marngrook?
