  1. That partially answers it. I was curious about the duration. If they will only offer 3 years and he sign's it, does that mean he can not break a contract and nominate for the draft next year but can only be traded?
  2. My question is, can he walk into the pre-season draft as a contracted player next year if he is not offered 1 year, but offered 3 years or 'he doesn't play for a year' from North but chooses to to sign and nominate next year?
  3. The quote a month ago from Tex was "We hope he does the right thing and re-signs" Apparently the right thing is only what Tex thinks is right.
  4. Pendlebury wanting to finish his career where he grew up barracking?
  5. How does preseason draft work? Can we officially offer Lever 1 year for 1.2 million front loaded with the rest payed over 3 years, so that no clubs will pick him up? Or can a club like North offer him a contract for 3 years but it has to be done at 1.3 mill per year, and if so he can't walk into the draft but they can trade him next year for picks?
  6. Vandenburg was best 22 every week in his first season while injury free, he's superior to vfl standard and has unluckily been crueled by injury. He has an extra year contract because he was AFL standard 2 years ago, unlike Kennedy. Vandenburg offers physicality and goal kicking nous that many other players on our list don't offer.
  7. If the lever deal bombs, because sydney refuse 1st round, then we could request alir alir.
  8. I know this topic was about value, but wouldnt Lever free up Hibberd to play up the ground too and on the wing for a longer period of matchtime? I cant see Hibbo as intercept marker and Lever as wing nor can i see Frost/Lever/Hib/Omac flying for a pack mark together. So bringing in Lever could be seen as a trade that fills two holes or three if TMAC plays forward, Hibberd and TMAC can also still play lock down intercept defenders if required.
  9. Bidding war between Coll, Carl and us confirmed!! /s
  10. Apparently Jarman Impey was dancing with Melbourne players in the footy show revue, which obviously means nothing much, but he is on the trade table according to rumours and matches our need for pace and could release Hunt or Hibberd to play higher
  11. Well seeing as though he did not play this year, we may as well reminisce about the moment he rag dolled Luke Hodge. Hope he gets to his best, because like Pedo, he can impact when the ball is on the ground with bone crunchingly tough forward pressure. I know it's the new fad to point to Richmonds small forwards, but he wouldnt look out of place in there.
  12. Well I think i called that one. Another 'unfamiliar with the G' interstate club choking against a team that plays there regularly. It will be great to see Melbourne win a premiership against another MCG team in the future, rather than have it easy over a higher seeded "away" team
  13. I'm stll suspicious of the re-occurence of a 2014/2015 GF let down with the MCG winning the premiership for the MCG club. Hows the weather out there by the way? I'd sooner see a wet bog than another windy overcast match.
  14. That was never going to happen as we'd have to trade a second round pick, which means we wouldnt have got Hibberd and means we wouldn't have gone anywhere near the finals. But that's kind of off topic, as the opportunity has arisen to add him as FA, i think he will definitely help push us into the finals if he keeps up his Daniel Wells style of easing past opponents and hitting players in space .
  15. Let's swoop in on Essendrug and get revenge. Watts for Stringer! We think a 2nd round is too low, but know a first round is too high. Ditto the Dogs with Stringer.
  16. He also played well against us, which is admittedly the prime reason for a lot of my trade hype. I dont watch GCS on most other occasions.
  17. It makes me wonder why we bother to draft WA/SA players at all, or at the very least, to limit it to low draft picks. I stand to be corrected on that though with past track record. Scott Thompson the most notable off the top of the head player loss. I recall my friend told me excitedly about a key forward named Hogan that would dominate in the future being drafted (having lost touch with the goings on at the dees for 2 or so years) - in response, i asked him: Where's he from? "WA" - My first reaction was "Oh, ok" and then apathetically: "So when will he go back?"
  18. Westhoff? Edit: Ah, did not know he was 30. Would be handy for his marking abilities, but with another pick coming back to us. Watts + 3rd for Westhoff and their 2nd
  19. Perhaps he only meant the 'on field physicality or pub fight standard setters'
  20. He also loved Pikey and would always point them out excitedly whenever they got into a shoving match or bumped players off the ball. I guess he saw them as standard setters.
  21. The umpires are as casual as i am, i wouldn't be able to pick most of them apart in a line up. Actually I think Dane Swan himself suggested he'd be putting stickers on apples if he wasn't a footballer a few years back. Fake news?
  22. "Still in the making" is both exciting and impatiently depressing. That players tend to reach their peak at around 25-28 with few outliers, suggests that while hard work collectively will see drastic inprovement, we realistically may have to wait a few years before we're challenging in prelims and GF's with high end stars like Rance, Cotchin & Martin etc. Although if we can perfect a system next year, Oliver & Petracca could be the extremely effective disposers like Bontompelli that can lead us to an exciting momentum gathering early assault. Lets hope we're up for raising our game next year lest we fall behind others.
