  1. Watts (Motlop & Rockliff) have officially nominated Ken Hinkley as a pretty decent boss to work under from their interviews*
  2. Interesting stat here and a disclaimer that i'm not suggesting there is any correlation but: Heading into round 14 after the Dogs game, we were considered #1 pressure team (Remember the article?) and then fell away remarkably over the coming rounds, incidentally the Dog game is when Jack tore his hamstring. Perhaps his injury hurt our team balance and "defensive pressure" more than we'd like to imagine?
  3. It's a pretty darn good jumper imo, much better than ridiculous lightning bolts or zigzags.
  4. It's obviously boring from a 'stories per hour' standpoint, but from our point of view: HOLY [censored] LEVER IS JOINING US. It only really sank in today.
  5. Ill only start to worry if we dont win a premiership in the next two seasons. If we're in prelims and close, i doubt we'll see any poaching just yet. Maybe if we do a st k and never capitalize in a 3 or 4 year period, player/s may leave for mega deals.
  6. This is exactly what equality is about. A top team should lose talent due to cap pressure and have to try and develop elite talent for another 3 years. Eventually the future will catch up with em
  7. With all the huff and puff about urgently needing outside mids and speed on the forum, it doesnt seem that the list managers share the same sentiment? Esp with Saad about to go for a 2nd round and us never showing much interest. Balic it appears has a bit of speed and Lever at hb must be about moving Hibbo or Hunt onto the wing if we play Frost and Omac back.
  8. GWS want 15-20 for Nathan Wilson, so they're preoccupied with getting their #1 trade target and only have 5 and 40 apparently.
  9. Stinga is returning to the Dees to play on the wing alongside Lewis.
  10. Only two pre-season matches this year and AFL X apparently, so VDB would probably need more time to get up to match fitness? Hannan for VDB IMO
  11. Opened this thread thinking an off-season scandal had erupted over Josh Mahoneys extra-curricular activities with a demonland poster.
  12. I dunno, usually you postpone the (Adelaides) grand final rematch until later in the year.
  13. 'I can see where the club is going and i want to be a part of it' would've been a good mantra to repeat over and over while doing the extra yard on the training track and in rehab.
  14. GWS are not accepting 40 for Nathan Wilson but are asking Freo to give them 15-20. I wonder if the pick 18/2018 1st we get back from Adelaide can be used in conjuction with the pick to get Balic so we can get a Fremantle player like Lachie Neale/Weller or another. Not too familiar with their list though and doubt they would have much.
  15. Not sure if this video is promoting the good work of Weideman more than the terrible defensive efforts of the Box Hill players on him! Some great kicks on goal and speccy though.
  16. I see. So google tells me he's contracted until the end of 2018, so Hawthorn have probably not offered an extension? He was also 2nd in the 'forward half pressure' graph that 'on the couch' displayed last week. Given we're not going to trade second round picks that Hawthorn might demand, it would put us out of the picture?
  17. Any rumours on whether we have a small forward who adds forward pressure and a little goalkicking nous in our sights, if we're going to be ridding the forward line of a 3rd tall ?
  18. On the topic of 2 man kpf forward lines. This was an Interesting article on the rise of importance on forward pressure and speed with this years trade period. Mentions JW and a few others in relation to the 'third tall' becoming an increasingly less relevant position http://www.theroar.com.au/2017/10/11/afls-small-ball-revolution-afl-trade-period-2017/.
  19. If thats a reason to not find a 2018 first round, then it could also be a reason not to recruit him. But cmon, bit disingenuous as lever is clearly a 21yo thats all about potential. He's tracking better than Rance at the same age. I think its justified in doing the 2018 1st pick and getting something back because its not solely about the intercept role. The Lever trade fills 3 holes. It pushes Tmac fwd and hibbo or hunt onto wing. We might have to pay more than 10 + 2018 2nd, but its worth it in the grand scheme of the team dynamic.
  20. 3rd forward seems like such a derivative label. Tom Lynch at Adelaide is a 3rd tall, and yet he's one of their most important link up players. I think Jack Watts has shown the potential to play in this up ground role that dictates all inside 50 movement with his skillful disposal, goal assisting. When he moved into the ruck against Geelong, it really felt like it was JW vs Geelong. He has that potential to be a genuine superstar but it's just so infrequent. I back Goodwin to make the right call. One thing that i'd like to see if JW stays, is him being told he is not going to play as a deep forward or high half forward anymore, but play on the ball as an outside mid, or on the wing. Just build up the tank over summer and turn yourself into a player that expends every ounce of gruelling effort to become some kind of distributing outside mid. If he gets it on the edge of a pack from Gawn/Oliver > Viney > JW, then we know he can be damaging and can become a player that provides the perfect link up disposal to a CHF Hogan or TMAC deep. Is it too late to reimagine his role in the team if he stays?
  21. I just mean we're taking a risk on two kids one of which whos barely played a game and both were injured in their draft years and were meant to be higher and both have wanted to go home like Schache does. Fascinating to see the difference of opinion on a former #2 pick in Schache not being worth a punt with a second round pick as opposed to the excitement on DL over what will be a #45 pick in Balic.
  22. Im still bitter about being called a turnip. Put it on the ban list!
