  1. Maybe we can offer our 2018 first round pick in exchange for a St Kilda 2017 first round pick and onward trade it for Lever, love these future form hedged bet pick swaps.
  2. You can't expect our Sexagenarian landers to be up on the nuances of free agency.
  3. Every draft position counts, if you've got your mind on someone and are assessing other teams lists and who they're going to take. We traded one or two postions up to get above Essendon and nab Clayton Oliver.
  4. The point was that a club may not want richmond's pick 14, but would prefer 10. So Richmond would sacrifice what amounts to 30 points, to get our 37 points. This way Adelaide would be getting a better deal with 14 and 16 rather than 10 and 27, and Richmond would presumably be satisfying a 3rd party with pick 10. Similar to the Hawk deal last year, they're doing an unsatisfactory draft pick deal in order to just get a trade to happen. Edit: Todays recent article was about Adelaide wanting 2 first round picks, which prompted this kind of deal idea.
  5. Not really. It depends on the club that Richmond are dealing with, and whether they want 10 and not 14 or 16, in this particular case the Demonland user (Apologies for not remembering) was talking about Schache though its been disproven as not an authentic rumour.
  6. Its more a balance or 'meet you halfway' kind of thing rather than coddling/over-discipline. Kids that are given nothing but an 'old school' hard ass authoritarian one size fits all coaching approach with strict discipline, either end up alienated or want out, or turn into assholes and a club atmosphere becomes divided. There's a reason Pagan and Rocket reached their expiry date. Like all things in life, moderation and nuance.
  7. Another fella on DL suggested we give 10 and 27 for richmonds 14 and 16 from memory so they can use #10 on a target, and then we pass them both on for lever, though i think it was also for Gaff. If Adelaide want two 1st round picks then this arrangement fits the bill.
  8. Maybe Brayshaw Self is alluding to the idea of a Gawn for Shiel swap, if Kelly was staying. I don't know how we could get Shiel if we were targeting Lever with our picks.
  9. I'd like to see Hoges model his game on Tex Walker, not Daniher or Brown. We need him playing authoratively rather than reactively ie moving up the ground and being #1 creator of goal assists like Tex is in the AFL . He has a good kick on him when he gets his confidence up and his footy brain will have him punting a 40-50m pass that sets Watts, Garlett or TMAC into a positive goal scoring position. Him and Watts in that tandem role are when our forward line is at its most damaging. We dont necessarily need 60-70 goals, we need him being the forward line General that moves up the ground and dictates where our forwards move to. Which I think suits his personality more, he should be hanging his expectations on positive team-play and nothing is more team play than goal assists. If he hangs his expectations on taking marks and kicking goals, well it's not going to work out for him on many an occasion throughout a match. If we're playing TMAC forward, we only want him kicking set shots not having to link up and find a player forward with his disposal. With enough game time and no injuries, he will get there. In summary Jesse needs to be in the top 2-5 players for goal assists in the entire AFL next year.
  10. It seems like most of his kicks are dabbed at and end up like a chipped lob pass, even when he nails the. We desperately need another player with Petracca's boot that can do a 40-50m lace out pass that has the leather kicked out of it. Players with authorative kicks that assist players and lead them into positive spaces. Dangerfield may lead clangers, but his long passes are damaging and clear the ball from an area and change the complexion of the game. I think Hogan could get into the middle and chf more often and really develop into the Tex distributor as he gets his confidence up because we defintely only need TMAC kicking it after he's taken a mark and not in general play. I think Salem suffers a little from over chipping too but he's less clangery.
  11. They could do a Cloke like the Dogs, add a player with attitude issues who could struggle and change the dynamic of the forward line and bring the rest down and cost them a few games next year and a top 8 spot, after winning a premiership. 10 and 27 should do it. Upgrading 7 spots! Great idea I think.
  12. He'd be on the trade table no doubt about it, and he basically is for doing the same in past matches and not providing some strong counter-memories for why he shouldn't be up for trade. (Ie he's not a [censored] forward, and he's not a [censored] tagger)
  13. If we're in the running for Lever and Gaff, we also need another pure forward and perhaps another outside running wing on top of having Gaff. I hope we take some list spot 'risks' on free agents, trade a player who hasn't taken a few chances and a player who's best 22 and a pick for an upgrade or identify a discard to give another chance to. (Stuart Dew anyone?)
  14. Funny that we had the exact same situation and it was TMAC who took the tackle and kicked the goal instead of playing for the high free. Though if it was 40 out it would've been goal of the century.
  15. I hope the only Jetta ever involved in a trade for us, is Lewis Jetta on the wing receiving a rebound pass from his cuz (In red and blue)
  16. Is there a Clangers per possession stat? Because a bloke that gets 10 possies and 2 clangers is far worse than one that gets 30 and 3.
  17. How has his year been? I refuse to believe the Dogs would not do everything to keep him, he's one of their best players.
  18. They also seem to score a goal every time they go in there. If they weren't touched or free kicks, they'd kick one anyway from A Port turnover coming out.
  19. Can we recruit Luke Shuey instead?
  20. Are we basing his recruitment on the last 30 minutes and the next 5 minutes? Cmon Gaff, set up a few goals and the come back win!
  21. It could be a snowball effect too. Get a player that realistically brings us to 5-8th, then another player will nominate us and that will get us to 3-4, and by that time our currently young elite talent will be 2-3 years older and ready to have a sustained period of peak output while for 2-3 years we've unearthed a few new best 22 in the draft and some of our developing vfl players will be afl ready. Our current depth or bottom 6 will have been delisted by then.
  22. He'd certainly be an expert on identifying stage-fright after this year.
  23. It was McKenzie who we passed on as a temporary 'stopper' in last years trade period, he was a FA from memory. Getting a game in an elimination final, shows we could've used him. Another case of DL calling every non-elite talent from other clubs, duds.
