Thanks DeeVoted. I'm keen to go around again. See if I can hold my form this year and not fizzle over the last month like I did in 2014.

I think Cuddles might have won that match up a few years ago . . . -

I hear he did pretty well at school and comes from a basketball background. Anyone know what his work ethic on the track was like?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN NEWTON
Goodvibes replied to Moneider96's topic in Melbourne Demons
It was probably unfair of me to lump Michie and Riley in with the much older Jones. Michie and Riley hopefully have much improvement in them. If two of Michie, Riley and Newton can become regular B grade mids we've done well. -

The question for me is whether he'll offer midfield depth in the same way Michie, Riley and M Jones have or is he going to be a step up from them. Anyone seen enough of him to know or at least guess? -
Last time I was confronted by a Demonland homepage featuring you as the last poster on the first 10 threads was grand final day 2013. You ok Demoneyes?

Was I the only one expecting Jones puts off contract talks as the focus of this thread when first opening it up?

Give your mates from golf a call. -
I'm in the Riley camp. I think Michie has a fair amount of work to do on his defensive running. Also seems a little one paced but is still young and has time to prove his worth. He's certainly at the right club.

Congratulations, Western Sydney Wanderers!

I always find this anti-expansion sentiment interesting. Whilst I'm a Melbourne fan first and foremost, I'm also a lover of footy and would like to think I've done my own small role to further the game in the northern states. I don't see success for Melbourne and Australian Rules Football being truly embraced in all states as being mutually exclusive things. I guess, I'm asking why the hate? Is it the draft concessions? Is it Scully? Is Sheedy? Is it Demetriou? The Gold Coast expansion doesn't seem to attract the same level of hate from Melbourne supporters. How is it different to GWS?- 47 replies

You're putting forward an argument to download picks 1, 2 or 3 for a player at 9, 10 or 11 Tyson/Salem style. History shows you're right, we're just as likely to find a quality player lower in the top 10 than higher in the top 10 but once the trade period is over and you've got a top 3 pick, surely you back yourself in and pick who you consider to be the best possible player.

Why do we do this to ourselves? That was truly horrendous. I won't sleep tonight. -
I hope his fake twitter account hangs around a little longer.

I can see Roos using him off half back next year if we pick him up. Vlastuin was impressive in his first two years in that role for Richmond. I think Brayshaw has the same strong body and combative approach that should allow him to survive from day one. His kicking is better than Vlastuin it seems and even though he would be a first year player, he may help alleviate a deficiency if he can give us that Malceski type player until he develops into Tyson's best mate in the middle. -
So if Jones has already agreed to sign would the club announce it now or wait for the start of next season to maximise the feel good vibe in the hope of increasing membership?

Yep. Roos Out. In GNF we trust.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SAM FROST

His recruitment means that we can really focus ourselves on other areas. If we do draft two elite young midfielders then we may be an experienced midfielder, a ruck/forward and a creative half back away from completing our jigsaw. -

BB, the thing I've slowly come to terms with over the many years we've been doing this forum thing, is that Demonland is obviously a microcosm of society. So many people like to see things in black and white. People like their history to be neat and simple. And people can change their seemingly very passionate and emotive views really really quickly. On Demonland we often talk about 'group think'. Well it's real. We've actually constructed our own version of MFC history (particularly the last two decades). And their is no place in that history for grey. Bailey was too soft. Neeld was too harsh. Roos is a God and Jimmy is immortal. Those seen as failures have no redeeming features. Those viewed positively are worshiped and beyond question. The posters on this site that I value are the ones who look for the grey and challenge accepted Demonland thinking. -
Potential Trades [Warning: Reading this thread may self-destruct]

I think we were spoilt last year. I long for the old days. 2010: Out: Cheney In: Nobody 2009: Out: McLean In: Nobody 2008: Out: Nobody In: Nobody 2007: Out: Johnstone In: Meesen 2006: Out: Nobody In: Nobody 2005 Out: Nobody In: Pickett So Pickett and Meesen in 6 whole trade periods. How did we survive? -
Is there anyone here who has seen more of Jake Lever than the short highlights clip above?
