  1. I was interested to read Rohan Connolly's most recent effort in The Age. With reference to the possibility of 8 games going free to air next year he asserts, "serve champagne on tap and in time, it will start to taste like water". He also makes reference to the fine line between fanaticism and obsession. Connolly is basically questioning whether our game is attractive and engaging enough to sustain this level of coverage. I often defend the standard of modern day football when debating with older friends and family who enjoy reminiscing nostalgically about the "good old days". If I wasn't intent on proving to those nearest and dearest to me that football isn't all consuming, I can confidently say I could watch every minute of every game each week - particularly during a week where Melbourne has notched up a convincing win. But then again, I've always assumed I linger closer to the obsessive than the fanatical when it comes to all things football. I'm interested in what others think. Is 8 games a week too much? Does the quality of footy really matter if Melbourne are winning? Do you watch footy for its aesthetics or purely because of your dedication to the Demon cause? How many non-Melbourne games do you watch per week? Full article can be found below: http://www.realfooty.theage.com.au/realfoo...6895525107.html
  2. Miller clearly deserves a shot at showing his game against Freo will become the rule rather than the exception. Dunn impresses me and can play on a flank while he's still a little under-sized. If I had to leave one of the key position forwards out it would probably be Robbo. In my eyes the pressure is right on him. Daniher seems to be placing more and more emphasis on defensive pressure within the forward 50 and as a consequence Robbo might start to struggle to get a run. Dunn is the future and with Davey playing more and more up the field, I'd like to see Chris Johnson playing the O'Keefe type forward role that others have alluded to on this site. This may well be the position Sylvia fills in 07 given his on-going injury concerns. Not sure he'll have the motor to play permanently in the middle.
  3. Foolish stuff this team prediction business so far out from the season proper. Let me have a crack! FF: Green Neitz Robbo CHF: C Johnson Miller Dunn C: Bate McLean Davey CHB: Bell Holland Bruce FB: Rivers Carroll Whelan Foll: White McDonald Johnstone Int: Jamar Jones Sylvia Pickett Emerg: Warnock Ward Moloney
  4. Would being in our best 22 by the end of the year constitute huge improvement for Michael Newton? If so, I'll put my money on him!
  5. Sorry jacey, gotta disagree. I think Miller's days as a forward are numbered. When Dunn fills out a little more, he looks the more likely option to me. The question is whether Miller can fill the position with sufficient success in the meantime to help us do a little September damage. I think the longterm future of Miller is down back.
  6. Miller was impressive today. He is a genuine option at CHF providing we play most of our footy at the G. Top 4 so important.
