  1. Spencer couldn't have done much better than he did yesterday v.the Bendigo Bombers. With Jamar rucking they'd have been killed.
  2. I'm convinced we all OVER-RATE jamar.
  3. Yes, it was a very strong retaliatory shove by Swallow and a mate. Juddas went flying!
  4. Adams was helplessly pinned on the ground, so Pratt's "green ambassador" grabbed his arm and wrenched it back as far as it would go, causing excruciating pain and jeopardising his footy career. (Judd then got the free kick). If the incident happened in reverse, it probably would have finished Judd's career, given he has dodgy shoulders. Twice he's been caught eye-gouging. I've described before on this forum an incident when he was playing for Caulfield Grammar v. St Kevins when he was being effectively tagged by that young Irish rookie who later came to Melb but didn't make it(can't recall his name) .Judd trod on his abdomen when he was down, and twisted his stops with his full weight on him, to try to break the tag. It takes a special type of guy to perpetrate these deeds. I'm sure that one day he'll get what he deserves . "Fairest and best!!" What a joke!
  5. We at Melbourne probably have a jaundiced view of the value of high draft picks. Almost all of ours have missed significant parts of their early careers due to injury.....viz. Blease, Morton, Strauss, Gysberts, Grimes, even Watts in his second year. Also Gawn, Tapscott , McLean , Tynan,Taggart Cook and Sylvia have all had lots of injuries. Also Fitzpatrick, but I guess he wasn't a high pick. Trengove and Jones the real exceptions.(though there is a suggestion that Jack's groin is playing up) But I think there oare others who have been injured a lot of the time, .....can anyone remind me?? Collingwood have had blokes like Thomas, Cloke and (until now) Pendlebury having relatively injury free careers, which has really helped their development.
  6. Judging by your avatar, I suspect your Aunty does have balls. But I find it slightly frustrating that you homed in on that part of my post,(249) and completely ignored the main thrust , which was noting the courage of Rivers and Tapscott. You didn't recite your hackneyed cliche when posters said that Richmond would have thrashed us if they'd kicked straight. Some supporters derive satisfaction from emphasizing negativity.
  7. I'd like to pay tribute to two Demon players who displayed absolute guts yesterday in two incidents. One was Jared Rivers who had to commit to running back with the flight knowing he'd be crunched.Similarly Luke Tapscott with Morris. On both occasions we came off second best, but as a Melbourne supporter I was proud of those efforts.Tappy showed that as well as dishing it out, he can take a heavy knock. Posters have all noted that If Richmond had kicked straight they'd have killed us, but we missed a few sitters as well. In fact if you give us Magner's goal , take off the unfair goal they got from a 50 meters for nothing, and give us a couple of easy shots we missed, we'd have beaten them, despite playing probably as badly(skill-wise) as we have all season!
  8. Coll. will miss Wellingham. They' ve got a lot of hard games between now and the end of the season. Wouldn't it be dreadful if tonight's loss to Carlton was the beginning of a big slump!
  9. I refer you to post no. 72 on this thread, from "Bossdog".
  10. I reckon Sellar is improving with each game down back. Dunn worries me. Occasionally he doesn't "take his turn". This can cost goals in the back line.
  11. No-one seems to have mentioned the physical side of Spencer's game. He likes bumping people. Did anyone else see him shirtfront Bateman against Box Hill?. Did his a-c. joint, and I don't think he's played since. He showed a bit of physicality in his first games in the big league too. How I'd love to see the Russian bump somebody! I think Gawn might like throwing his weight around, too.
  12. Salmon was like that at Essendon, too.
  13. I'll never forget that wonderful day! I think we won the reserrves, too! Oh for those days again!
  14. What I don't understand is this..... If you try to get on to the Demonology site, you still see the opening page. On that there are about 15 posts on current topics, just the headings, but with no replies. If you try to read the posts you bring up the error page. But it looks like people are still posting. Can anyone explain this to me.?
  15. ??????? Your article says he's moved to SA to boost his chances of playing more Test Cricket Disappointing result overnight. Clarke elected to bowl on a perfect pitch with a wet ball. Our batsmen were under pressure from the first over. D Hussey was bit stiff....bat to helmet to stumps!
  16. Interesting article on this in today's Age,p22. While Longmire dismisses the importance of "Goalkicka", he emphasises the importance of practice in accuracy. Perhaps he's keeping his cards close to his chest......not wanting the rival Clubs to obtain the benefit he has!
  17. A method for an Ozzie to get through to the second round of a tennis Major(other than Sammy S) 1. Play another Australian 2. Hope for an injury and walkover.
  18. I don't know how the "Goal-kicker Target" works. I think it's a round target strung up halfway up the posts. I was hoping a Demonlander might know something about it, to inform me. If the stats about Sydney are true, it might be worth looking into.
  19. Yeah it doesn't matter if you kick straight.....as long as you get it into the forward 50!!!
  20. West Ham have got rid of ex-England goal keeper, Rob Green. I don't think they'll miss him. Not too many clean sheets!!! But I know defence is up to the team as a whole. Calamities do occur when he's in action!

  23. I love watching Bubba play. He lines it up like an Albert Park hacker, and whacks the thing out of sight!!! He always deliberately hooks or slices it, but it ends up where he wants it! Did you hear his interview with answers to 10 quick questions? One of them was....."what's the best piece of advice you've ever received? " The answer...."never take a lesson"!! I'm not so sure about the religious remarks after his victories, but , I must say, he must have about as much god-given talent for hand-eye co-ordination as you can get. He'd be brilliant at any skill based ball sport.
