  1. Did any other Demonlanders see Robinson’s puerile, inane questions when interviewing Caleb Windsor on 360 this evening? Poor old Whateley was squirming with embarrassment, while Caleb managed ok.
  2. Carlton had a couple of chances to pole-axe Skunkhead last night, but let him off, to my disappointment.
  3. What an inspired pick he was by us from Adelaide!. I hadn't really noticed that he was that good before we got him.
  4. I remember it well, too,Tiers. Dean should have been suspended for staging. They got their come-uppance with Neville Crowe not long after, an innocent victim in similar circumstances (was it John Nicholls?) BUT..... I hope M Pickett isn't suspended, because I want Richmond to be at their strongest, and knock off a few of our rivals.
  5. Clarrie disclosed after the game that he had sore ribs, and the punch got him right in the sore spot. I hope this was noted by the umpiring fraternity, because otherwise it could be interpreted as an exaggerated response to the hit.
  6. I'm so besotted with Bobby Hill, I'm going to get "GAOL" tattooed in large letters on my thighs, like him.
  7. Skunkhead wouldn’t care about oaths!
  8. I hope Charlie concusses a few Cats players, now he knows he's sacrosanct.
  9. Me too………..but I’m glad, because I want Brisbane to take the wind out of Geelong’s sails.
  10. The tribunal actually besmirched Lever’s character saying he is an expert at milking frees. It would be amazingly quick thinking for him to jerk his head back after hitting the ground. It all happened so fast he didn’t have time to use his free arm to break the fall. Saligo threw his head back after Kozzie brushed his face. No- one said he was trying to draw a free.
  11. I’d like to add Steven Icke to the list of great recruits from other clubs. Courage personified in a weak team. I guess you’d have to add Peter Moore, though he didn’t shine in the above feature. Brian Wilson, too, who helped get strong again in 1987.
  12. Don’t let’s be rude to dogs by comparing them to Maynard. I quite like the sobriquet “skunkhead”. Do other Demonlanders think it’s not inappropriate? Or is it offensive to skunks?
  13. Great , thanks! I’d forgotten about that.
  14. Two instances of incredible football irony occurred last round. 1. Picket’s suspension because of the “Maynard rule.” Brayshaw(and Melbourne) suffered deeply when Maynard viciously poleaxed him in the final last year. ( no penalty). Picket’s indiscretion was in no way similar to Maynard’s, with absolutely no injury, but he’s suspended because he brushed the face after trying to spoil, and that’s the new rule. 2. Carlton’s win after the obviously touched mark. We lost the final to them last year, because , in Q 2, Nibbler’s goal was disallowed due to replays suggesting possibly, but not definitely, the ball brushed Marchbank’s finger. Carlton and Collingwood don’t seem to realise how blessed they’ve been with recent controversial decisions.
  15. He reminds me of Garry Hocking on appearance. Great if he plays like him!
  16. And the free kick count was kept under wraps.
  17. But in the instance I've illustrated in the opening post, the Carlton player picked up the ball, saw an opponent approaching, and dived his head between the tackler's legs. (as mentioned above, very like the Viney incident in the 2021 GF, but there's more emphasis on head protection nowadays) The umpire that gave Carlton the free just has no understanding of the game. This was not a difficult adjudication....it was an egregious error. If that error is repeated, serious injuries will inevitably follow.
  18. Most umpiring mistakes are understandable and forgivable, but not an error as ignorant and significant as this.
  19. I witnessed a shocking decision by the umpire in the North/Carlton game on Friday. I have tried to attach a video of it below. The Carlton player received a free for "high contact". I think this is worthy of being a new topic, since it is such an important digression from the AFL's determined efforts to lessen concussion injuries. Surely the umpire must realise, that by awarding a free to the player who is leading with his head, it will encourage players to adopt this method. The result??? More concussions, even possibly a broken neck. That umpire should be dropped and forgotten. He has no understanding of basic football. Umpire error.MOV
