  1. Yeah, if he does play my expectations will be rock bottom. That way he can only exceed them!
  2. So, what, you two are hoping we lose on Monday? I agree that there are plenty of hypocrites on this website who will trumpet the notion of tanking when it suits us, yet when rival clubs do it they condemn it. But we've got 1 win on the board. We can afford 3 more under your rules, and I wouldn't back us in to win all of Richmond, WC and Fremantle. I'd be surprised if we did. This is the one game of the year that matters to this club, for so many reasons. We absolutely have to win.
  3. Gee, the Bulldogs really are struggling to drum up support, given that they're 3rd on the ladder. Poor them, they deserve it. If Hawthorn's season continues on the way it's been going so far, their membership figure for 2010 could be 10,000 down on this year (at least).
  4. Ah yes, here I can feel very lucky since my exams start on the Wednesday, so there's no guilt at all. Yay.
  5. Peter German's official report: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsart...09/default.aspx
  6. Agree. However, I think we'll see one, if not both, by the end of the year. Hopefully with good results too. So did I. I've been impressed with the improvement from Bate. Just when I thought everything was going to go downhill for him, he picked his game up. Bate stays.
  7. What's that for? I'd have thought that, given Collingwood's forward line, Martin could play as a forward this week.
  8. Fair enough. We certainly need to do something about our forward line. I'm nowhere near convinced that Newton's the answer, but I guess we can only play who we have.
  9. In: Robertson (plays QB well, need his goal kicking), Cheney (surely is doing enough at Casey to warrant a recall) Out: I have no idea. Miller certainly will come under consideration. Otherwise, Bell? Whelan?
  10. First of all, you can't seriously think that hitouts are a decent measure of a forward? I'll accept that my previous comment was biased. Newton's numbers may show equal or better output than Miller, but I think it would be fair to say that it's much of a muchness between the two. When Newton's had recalls, he's let us down. I really can't see the benefit of Newton for Miller.
  11. It's been confirmed: Wallace will finish as coach after this week's match against the Bulldogs. Source: SEN (taking the press conference live now)
  12. Nadal's out of the French Open! Defeated in 4 sets by Robin Soderling. http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,2...3-11088,00.html Sporting upset of the year?
  13. About an hour ago on SEN Keven Bartlett said that his mail was that Wallace would coach this week and then sign off. Wouldn't surprise me. We'll see in 13 minutes I guess.
  14. I agree. I just don't think the timing is right now. But some time later this year I'm sure we'll see him.
  15. Miller might have played like absolute crap on the weekend, but he's still a better proposition than Newton. At least he runs and chases. You'd get a similar output from Newton on a good day.
  16. I cannot believe what people are saying about Watts. Unbelievable. FFS, he's only just turned 18, he's playing on a wing/half-foward and got more than 20 disposals. He mightn't be ready for AFL football yet, but for a kid like him, playing out of position, and not being able to train fully because he's still at school, I certainly can't see any reason for concern. The positives to come out of this match are Jurrah and Cheney, I reckon. Cheney should get a call up this week. He was stiff to get dropped in the first place. Should be in the team. I doubt Jurrah's close to ready for AFL football yet, but I'm excited to see him amongst the goals.
  17. And West Coast still needs another 2 wins...
  18. I heard that in a highlights package on the 5th quarter last night. That was just crap. Whilst I'm glad I didn't have to listen to DR, the 774 commentators weren't that great either. There were plenty of players I hardly heard last night who racked up disposals (Geary is one of them). Jamar got little credit for the ruckwork, PJ got more. Rivers got more negatives about his kicking than positives.
  19. Exactly right WJ. Almost every week now we hear Bailey say something along the lines of how we're overposessing or using the handball too often, yet it continues to happen. I think the problem last night was, again, that there was no target up the ground. At stages last night the commentators were berating us for not having anyone forward of the centre. It's happened many times this year, the forwards get sucked up the ground chasing their opponents and don't hold position. That means our defenders and midfielders look up and see nothing, so they handpass and go backwards/sideways. Our poor skill just exacerbates the problem.
  20. According to the paper he played 80% of game time. No he didn't. Maybe you're thinking of Maric, who played about 4 games because he had to couple footy with school? Watts isn't ready. He isn't playing decent footy at Casey yet. He's had one good game, the rest he's been struggling. I don't want him to be thrust into AFL level with a heap of expectation on his shoulders if he isn't gaining confidence from his footy at VFL level.
  21. I'm assuming that Rivers played on Koschitzke? From the radio I couldn't tell. About the only thing that got Rivers a mention was a couple of poor kicks (which, actually, is something Rivers needs to work on).
  22. I didn't have the luxury of being able to see the game, but from 774's radio coverage (which was pretty crap, but I didn't want to risk getting worse coverage from MMM), it seemed as though Johnson, Bennell, Green and McLean played well. Having read the papers, it's obvious that Jamar had a good return as well.
  23. Do we usually travel with 2 emergencies? What are the chances of Cheney in for Frawley?
