For those who want Jenkins, how do you see our forward six lining up if everyone is fit in Round 1 next year? I was totally against him but, if he came for next to nothing on a minimum deal, then I could stomach it a little more... but where does he fit? Who does he keep out of the side? Do we go with a 31 year old towards the end of his career or stick with the Weid and his development?

Has there been anything else on this since last night?
-
As rjay says above, I think you're putting too much stock in the calculator. If a club felt moving up a spot like that at the top end was worth it, then sticking a mid 2nd rounder in wouldn't matter much to them.
-
Is his middle name Basil?
-
Was it from the hosts or did someone call in?
-
Something like that. Seriously though, the CEO mentioned the call. No phone tapping from me.
-
To answer the question - yes, I would and no, they won't.
-
Eagles CEO said today that teams had inquired but totally rebuffed. Gaff had apparently called Simmo so he could be reassured nothing was happening, and he was told 100% that he was staying. Zero in it.

When did we get rid of Frost? Still plenty to play out there, Doc.

They can have it if the want to pay up.

I just don't think the points would be of much importance to clubs as they seemingly are to the fan on the street. I understand why they have done it, but it seems short sighted to me. Let's say we are keen for a couple of players who we believe we fall in the last first round or early second, and they are players who we think are of high quality. They would dangle that pick 3 for, say, picks 14 and 18 and possibly something else thrown in and feel like we're adding three quality players and people to our list as opposed to just one. There is slight risk involved, as there always is when drafting kids, but I don't think the club would care re: the points and what the AFL says they are worth.
-
Yeah, I think we're more than happy to take it to the draft, but we're also happy to dangle it out there to see what bites we get. If we get a big bite then we've got something to think about, otherwise we take our lot and select a gun kick who can play 200 games for the club.
-
Do any other sports use this points system for picks? Seems meaningless to me. The worth of those picks would change from year to year based on how deep and talented the draft is. Pick 20 might be a really handy pick one year and kinda average the next. I'm surprised we do this to be honest.
-
This is the stumbling block for me. I know others might feel it is fair, but swapping 3 for 14 and 17 just doesn't feel right. A top 3 pick is a valuable commodity and if we're going to deal it then you expect a pretty darn good return for it, and 14 and 17 isn't it for me.
-
Putting points aside, how would you feel about giving up Pick 3 for those two much later in the first round on their own? I know that we overrate picks at times, but I still feel as though there needs to be more to it than that.
-
With the Tim Kelly deal going ahead, would the Cats be an option of a team we could split Pick 3 with? They are getting #14 from the Eagles to go with their current pick of #17. They would have to add something more to that to get our pick, but they provide another option outside of a GWS or a GC.

I've heard that the lack of interest is down to his current contract being quite large.
-
His manager said this morning that, if he is to leave, that his choices are pretty much down to Carlton or St. Kilda. No mention of us.

I don't think there is a player I want less in this trade period than him. To me he is everything we don't need going forward.

Not really buying the Gaff rumours. I think it's coming up due to what the Cats are asking for Tim Kelly, but they pushed hard to re-sign him at the end of 2018. Hard to see that changing now.
-
Harry Petty to potentially get an upgrade to Frosty's #17? And if we keep Pick 3, perhaps they get #15 or #24?
-
I'd take him, especially as we can get him for nothing. As it says above, we could do a lot worse than having his foot skills coming off half back, and at 22 he still has plenty of footy and potential improvement ahead of him.
-
Of course they are. They are the most desperate person at the dance.

Short update from Scott Lucas (Langdon's manager): Lucas said Melbourne and Fremantle have had "really good dialogue" about a trade for the Dockers wingman. "If the deadline was this Friday it would all get done, but when it's next Wednesday you work to that date. "To get a deal done opens up a heap of other deals. "I think there's an understanding of getting it done and I think expectations from both sides are quite close."
