  1. I'll go with two. The ANZAC Eve game and then one against a random opponent late in the season.
  2. Their recruiting wasn't bad, but I still feel like they're putting lots of faith into Max King. If he doesn't come good or gets injured, all they really have down there is Tim 'I like it an easy goal Josh Jenkins style' Membrey. I think recruiting Hill and Dougal Howard were good pieces of business, but they aren't really in the next two drafts and still have plenty of holes in their list.
  3. I'm always amazed when people remember this stuff. I don't even remember what I've posted half the time until someone quotes it hours later.
  4. He's another who is a bit 'meh' to me. Has struggled for a few years now. I don't think he would make us any better.
  5. He is off to Carlton: https://www.afl.com.au/news/2019-10-25/delisted-saint-to-play-on-at-carlton-after-rejecting-twoyear-deal
  6. Hey DeeVoted, Massive thanks to you for organising the league each and every year. I find that these are easily some of the most competitive leagues that I've been in, with pretty much everyone playing right through to finals. There are rarely any easy games and it's nail biting stuff each week. You do a great job of putting this all together. It's very much appreciated by myself, and I'm sure the other players in these leagues appreciate it too. Cheers.
  7. This has to be the longest farewell since $cully ran away to GW$.
  8. Not sure? The bloke is a numbskull. I wouldn't trust a single thing he's saying.
  9. Is there anyone supporters don't want? At this rate we'll need to delist another 10 players to fit everyone in.
  10. What is wrong with taking Ash/Young/Serong at three and then Weightman at pick 8? Why fuss with the above? If that is what we want then bidding on Henry doesn't change that.
  11. Here are those three goals. Still love watching the third goal on the run!
  12. I'll never forget the three final quarter goals that JKH kicked against the Tigers in a NAB Cup game in 2014. First time I'd been excited at a Melbourne game for a few years and you could feel the change in attitude amongst supporters that night. No doubt having Paul Roos in the box helped but it was great to watch. I had high hopes for Stretch as well but, in the end, both of these guys just couldn't translate some of their VFL form into AFL form. Thanks for the contribution to the club fellas.
  13. Josh Bruce is pretty 'meh' to me. He had five games where he went goalless and seven where he kicked just one goal. His two big games from this year were when he kicked 4 on us (not hard) and 6 against Norf. Hardly the sort of stats to get excited about.
  14. The kid looks like he has plenty of talent, but is this the 'risk' we all want to take? I know it's been a talking point in terms of the club not wanting to take risks, but I'm not sold on this being one of them. I'd rather take Ash/Young/Serong and then Weightman at Pick 8 and go from there.
  15. True. I think what stood out to me from it is the fact that we actually have wingers who can not only play the role well, but do so for extended periods of time. It therefore allows us to rest other players and keep them fresh for longer, thus allowing them to have a more positive impact on a game for extended periods.
  16. Didn't tell us a whole lot we didn't already know, however: One thing that did stand out form the article is the 'time on ground' average for both players. I think Tomlinson is around 85% and Langdon at 86%. They compared this number to Scully, one of the hardest running mids around according to Jay Clark, and his TOG is at 84%. The idea here is that it will give our in and under mids more time to rest during a game, whether that be up forward or a spell on the bench, and will keep us fresher for longer, giving us the ability to play better footy for sustained periods rather than just short bursts.
  17. Thanks for keeping this all up to date, LH. It's very much appreciated!
  18. Do we bother? If he wants to join Carlton, would we select him and potentially put up with him sooking through the entirety of his contract? Actually, stuff him. If we can afford him then I'd select him. Stick it right up Carlton.
  19. We need to look at the bigger picture. I can't recall who they are, but I believe we have a number of important players out of contract next year. The club may see the money we were going to use on Elliott, and anything left over, as important in achieving our goals of who we are going to re-sign. If we don't pursue him for financial reasons then there would be far more to it than just not being able to afford him now, but also looking to what we need to do in the future.
  20. Maybe, but we don't really know. Does the club see a target next year that they can use the money on, or are they keen to pocket the cash and use it for contracts over the next few seasons? Our priorities will dictate whether or not we chase Jack Martin.
  21. The only sticking point may be money, LT. If he puts a high price on his head then we may not be able to match it, or feel as though it will hinder our ability to sign up some of our key players next year. Make no mistake - I'd love him at the club, and I would be happy for us to bluff Carlton a little to make them sweat, but if he puts a big bounty on his head then we may have no choice but to pass on him as we can't afford his salary.
